  1. No range, no arm, no bat....but he did have a good glove....that's it.
  2. Good point, Jim. Reinsdorf is attached to Frank like a leech. Lee would be gone way before the thought of Frank leaving would come up. I like Lee, don't get me wrong, but he can't compete with Big Frank for the DH spot. Once Borchard is nice and ready, Lee won't have much of a place to be on the White Sox. As much as I would hate to see C. Lee leave, him staying on the White Sox staff for years to come is a slim possibility. i dont hate the thought of lee leaving.. but as much as hes attached to kw's hip bone i dont see that happening....the love affair between jr and frank is wearing down... i think frank leaves before lee(not that i want to ever see that happen).. espically if kw has his way........ HSC....from which side if the Thomas-Reinsdorf relationship wearing away? Reinsdorf made a good, fair offer to Thomas to attempt to keep him in Chicago....and Thomas then accepted it, even though he had an offer from the Dodgers on the table. Reinsdorf then complimented Thomas after signing him saying he's the best player in White Sox history(which I agree with). You don't think that their relationship was rekindled by this incident?
  3. I hope he sits down, says"I'm going to rip the f***ing cover off the ball this year," stands up, and walks away.
  4. Assuming that is Jose leaves, of course.....getting him between $2-5 mill is pretty cheap for a guy with his talent. But man, that would be cool to see Dellaero play. I hope he can hit like .275 this year....that translates into about a .240-.250 major league average....and then you get incredible range and an incredible arm....it'd be almost like having Ozzie Guillen. If he could hit like .290....that'd be like a gift from heaven.
  5. My thoughts exactly(UNLESS it is a player like Lofton that we are trading and we would be getting two pretty good arms in return). It wouldn't hurt getting a good defensive catcher that is coming out of college....give him 2-3 years, and he would be able to be up. Also in that round we could be getting a very, very good player with raw talent. And every once in a while, you'll get lucky and get a 38th round draft pick and he turns out to be your ace.
  6. wsc....I'm looking at I believe 3 leagues...so I probably will join yours. I've already got the League # and password from the other league. IT BETTER AS HELL BE GOOD!
  7. As a South Dakotan, we rarely get to see athletes at the professional level....I can only think of a few right now as it is(Mark Ellis in Oakland, Eric Piatkowski and Mike Miller in the NBA, and there are some pro football players too....lineman mostly if I remember correctly....Josh Heupel, runner up in the Heisman balloting during Oklahoma's undefeated season a few years ago, is also from South Dakota)....and it is even more rare to see a player from SoDak get traded. So I figured I'd point this out. Mike Miller was traded tonight from Orlando to Memphis today.
  8. You'd be able to hook me up a plane ticket and we could watch the Sox....maybe rent a hot tub and we could soak while watching the Sox kick the crap out of the opposition(hopefully). Or better yet....you could buy the naming rights to the stadium back...hell, you could call it Royce Stadium if you wanted to...that is, if you wouldn't mind being castrated by the diehards of Chicago that aren't your friends
  9. Rowand's a damn good bunter too....and I believe Jose can get some down every once in a while. I don't know about dickwad(Lofton) though....he couldn't get a bunt down to save his life during May and June...but he was good in April.
  10. I think it was something like "I'm not going to lead us to a World Series. But I'll break my back trying." And while you're at it....make some KW quote shirts...."You can't spend a dollar if you only have 50 cents" and many other timeless quotes. CW....you'd be a millionaire!
  11. sry i was talking bout regular non-cable tv (for cheap folks like me), espn's cable They will(unfortunately) show it on Fox....this is unfortunate for those of us with cable....because Joe Buck and Tim McCarver and who not else are morons.
  12. I feel rather dumb here...but what is the Charlie Lau theory?
  13. So he was a Rey Ordonez type player? Great D, no O....am I understanding correctly?
  14. They are good together...I know that. But they don't have that natural chemistry that Hawk and Wimpy did. Man, were they good. I could actually watch a game and enjoy it when those two were doing it, and I was like 12 in Wimpy's last year. It seems that DJ is getting held back. I remember he did a game with Fox a couple times last year....he was pretty good...he could be one of the better commentators for the Sox in the future. Man, I hope I can get some kind of deal where I can watch the White Sox games....that would be awesome. I might not get Hawk and DJ...but atleast I'd get the Sox games. Crossing my fingers
  15. I'll watch the home run derby and see a player or two totally f*** up their swing for the rest of the year...and then I will watch the [multiple] White Sox All-Stars play.
  16. Rowand is a month ahead in his rehab...and he will be our starting CFer....Jimenez will probably be the 2Bman and Harris will make the roster as a backup 2B/CF/pinch runner.
  17. Doesn't Dan Wright throw a knucklecurve?
  18. I don't think Enemencio Pacheco(the guy we got for Alomar last year) was invited...but I may be wrong.
  19. I doubt it..... especially if the White Sox are contending this year. Couple that with the fact that KW has expressed his desire to make CLee the DH once he can get rid of Frank (make no mistake..... KW wants Frank OUT of Chicago's SS) and I just don't see the Sox getting rid of CLee anytime soon..... or as long as KW is the GM. Thomas is Reinsdorf boy.....Reinsdorf has a bit more power than Williams. From this, I have concluded that Lee will be out of the south side before Big Frank.....or so I hope.
  20. I'd have to agree...trading Durham was a dumb, dumb move Had we been able to sign Durham in the offseason....we wouldn't even be having this debate right now. We'd have an All-Star 2Bman who can leadoff and hit for some decent power. He plays solid defense, though he's never been able to go to his right. He turns double plays very well however. Had we offered him arbitration and he turned it down, then we'd get a first or second round pick from the team that signed him(in this case, a first rounder from the Giants). We'd be able to draft someone better than Jon Adkins Had we flat out lost him to FA....we wouldn't have had the bad rep of trading an All-Star for a bum minor leaguer....teams don't get bad reps because they can't afford/don't pay their players loads of money....KW doesn't look as bad as he does now. If he could have gotten Esteban German as well(who I believe is the A's top 2B prospect), I would have been fine with the deal....but to get just Adkins...it pisses a person off. However, that happened like 7 months ago....it happened, we ripped KW, and now it's over with. We really need to get over it.
  21. Unless you're Jerry Manuel and your friend is Nardi or Waving Wally! As for crappy players being good coaches....I can only think of a few good coaches that were also good players....Joe Torre(though his job is actually quite easy)....Lou P, Dusty Baker, Mike Scoscia, Bob Brenly....maybe a few others as well....there were also some decent players that turned out to be s***ty coaches....like Don Baylor for example.
  22. To get someone original in here....how about Jeff Liefer? He had a great minor league career and he won the 1B job out of ST in 99 was it? Got injured and was nothing more than a bench player from there on out. Let's hope he can hit well in Montreal
  23. I actually think what baggs meant by his 96 MPH comment(if I may take the podium here for baggs for a moment) was that Wright doesn't fatigue as easily as Garland doesn. He has more endurance and keeps his good stuff longer than Garland keeps his. They are both young, talented pitchers....let's just hope they turn out to be something.
