QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 10:13 AM) I wish Ervin Santana and Jimenez would just sign already so this moot and useless conversation ends. Chances Paulino outperforms Ubaldo Jimenez this year?? 50/50

The Seahawks only blitzed 6 times last night.

QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Feb 2, 2014 -> 11:09 AM) I wonder how the most famous non American White Sox fan became one, Barack Obama This is hilarious.
-
QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 09:10 AM) But that doesn't mean he hasn't received the recognition he deserved...whether people knew who he was or not, he still received the highest possible honor in his profession. And the word recognition has multiple definitions and interpretations too.

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 09:17 AM) Andre Reed getting in before Tim Brown is about the biggest joke ever. No it's not. Reed has been on the ballot longer 4 years longer. Brown will get in. Relax.

QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 08:52 AM) How is winning an Oscar for best actor not getting the recognition you deserve? I'm guessing I wasn't the only person in America who saw the name and said "where do I know that name?" and then looking him up and saying "God he looks so familar, what the heck has he been in?" and then seeing that oh yeah, this guy has been in a ton of stuff.

The Seahawks will inevitably lose some of those defenders too, but that team is absolutely set up for an extended run. I think I saw that they're the youngest team to ever win the Super Bowl.
-
They'll ultimately wait until the CBA expires to change that, but you can bet it will be changed again.

QUOTE (Knuckles @ Feb 2, 2014 -> 10:01 PM) I didn't really know which thread to put this in but here it goes... Out of town Sox fans, MLB.TV or Extra Innings? MLB.TV will be able to follow you. You can use it on your phone, computer, 360/PS3/One/PS4. If I do it this year, that's what I will be doing.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 3, 2014 -> 08:17 AM) in the Palehose bracket, yes. There are several buster and SLaM debates that are pretty epic bad Sorry, yes, I should have been clear. It's amazing that we closed a thread due to this pointless argument and the vitriol being thrown around, yet here it begins to populate itself again in another fashion even as management has made it's indications pretty clear as to what they are going to do (which is to say, not sign any current free agent pitcher to a 4 year deal and not outright release Dunn), yet people are still defending it to the death.
-
This really has become one of the worst debates or arguments or whatever in Soxtalk history.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 1, 2014 -> 04:39 PM) Why would you want to build Dunn's value at the expense of one of their better trading chips De Aza or Viciedo? Penny wise and pound foolish. I think you answered your own question here. Dunn has little to no value while you can actually get a useful piece for De Aza or Viciedo.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 05:14 PM) You belong to that SABR crowd, but you're not one of the militant ones so I'm sure you know any player you sign has the potential to be a bad contract. What made Dunn's contract so awful was the Sox farm system was than only thing worse than it, they were locked into him. With a lot of money to spend and presumably an improving farm system a mid-rotation starter is not even a drop in the bucket. Not a drop in the bucket, yet it's going to take a very similar commitment overall to bring in Santana or Jimenez as it was to bring in Dunn. He's now untradable and people (like yourself) find him so repulsive that you want him outright released. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 05:28 PM) You're one of those SABR people who thinks the game is best played on paper. Get your head out of a book once in a while and watch the game. This is absolutely uncalled for. Just as a novel can be viewed and interpreted multiple ways, so can baseball. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 05:49 PM) You're probably right and they are laughing at me. That doesn't mean the joke isn't on them. Nope, the joke is on no one. Again, this is absolutely uncalled for.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 04:13 PM) Why suffer through another Dunn AB when you don't have to? Turn the game off then dude. The White Sox are a legitimate, rational business. You are the one who doesn't like him. Just walk away when he comes up to the plate.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 03:25 PM) My argument is whatever we get back for Dunn isn't worth keeping him. you can believe in Santa Claus and think otherwise if you like. So you are saying you'd rather have nothing than something? They could use people with your generosity in sub-Saharan Africa.

QUOTE (The Ultimate Champion @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 02:00 PM) It's funny how people think a pitcher who was very good as recently as last year can't bring back a worthwhile return in trade within a year or two but somehow Dunn can. Whatever. At least we don't *have* to pay another pitcher, however we do *have* to pay Dunn. You guys are terrible. We're terrible? You are the one who wants to eat $15 million and kick Dunn to the curb while then bringing in a player for the same exact type of contract! Hypocrisy, thy name is you
-
28-24 Broncos. Seattle scores a late touchdown, attempts an onside kick with 4 minutes left, Denver recovers, and The Sheriff kills the clock.
-
Yeah, even as a guy that likes De Aza, you aren't going to get anyone to overpay for him at this point. His value is low right now.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 12:16 PM) Why keep him? #1) If this team is going to compete or resemble something close to competitiveness, Dunn will be needed. He shouldn't play much versus lefties this year with Konerko on the roster, but they have absolutely no chance without him. #2) There is a chance that, with a good first half, some of Dunn's contract can be saved in a trade. #3) Who are you reasonably going to replace him with that is going to do or be anything of significance? I think they are probably trying to work out trades to get him off the team, but they don't want to eat $15 million just to get rid of him. He's still a useful player.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 11:48 AM) Coming off a 99-loss season it would behoove the Sox to throw their fans a bone. Why keep Dunn? No, the White Sox should do what's best for the White Sox. Not to say screw the fans, but they don't know s***.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 09:35 AM) Not sure if this should go here or the video games thread... The Breaking Madden Superbowl How have I never seen this before? It might be the greatest thing on the internet.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 31, 2014 -> 09:00 AM) OP said 06' or later son. And didn't Contreras break the franchise consecutive wins streak or something in 2006? So anything before 2005 just remains forgotten? How else are we going to remember the Sox coming back from an 8-1 deficit against the Cubs?
