There are definitely many, many others I'd take above Jaye right now. I see a scouting report like that and, even in the Sox system, I can't help but think he should be rated in the 15-20 range at best.

Tough for Chicago to prove last season's surprising run wasn't

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 03:44 PM) Does to me Sox could not beat KC last year before they improved there team this year, and cost Sox the AL Central in 2012. Because analysts are 100% spot-on when it comes to their predictions. How many times do we have to go over this before people will start taking analysts' opinions for the grain of salt they're worth? -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 03:00 PM) (They're just the Rays now). Yes. Just referencing when the expansion team came out.

Heck, I like it more than the Thunder, and if we are comparing it to other sports, how about the Blue Jays or Devil Rays? Those all seem silly too, but nobody thinks twice about them anymore. Pelicans are awesome.

Sammy kind of looks like a vampire. And by that I mean, even past the gelled hair and the nice sweaters and suits, he looks terrible.

QUOTE (Reddy @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 02:35 PM) expert on agriculture now are we? To be fair, there is a lot of land in the Dakotas alone that is privately owned and not being used to farm that could support a lot of crops. I can make this fairly safe assumption because there are large farms that sandwich said pieces of land.

QUOTE (lasttriptotulsa @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) I get it that the Pelican is the state bird and all, but to me that name is awful. I think Rougarou, Swamp Dogs and Bullsharks all would be better names. Rougarou would have been my choice. I am in strong disagreement then. I think all the other names sound like D-League team names whereas Pelicans has a real nice ring to it.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 01:53 PM) We've all had those bad days when we got naked, broke into someones house and pooped everywhere. Yeah, that goes without saying. The masturbation is really what throws me off.

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 01:48 PM) 25-home run potential for Hawkins? He had eight in 229 at-bats, which extrapolates to 21 HR over a full season. Mind you that was with a wood bat for the first time. Because it's potential and obviously no guarantee he would ever reach that, that seems awfully conservative. When I read 25-homer potential, I generally consider it to mean an average of 25, meaning he is probably a 30-35 homer hitter during his prime years.

QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 01:51 PM) KC ranked to finish ahead of the Sox in alot of predictions of the AL Central. Still doesn't matter -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 11:42 AM) I thought I read somewhere that the Earth is about 30% land, and humans inhabit less than 1% of that. So, we have a long way to go. I think it's much more likely that the human race goes through another plague and subsequent dark age before we literally run out of land or water and are forced to move to Mars. Much of it is virtually uninhabitable though as well. The vast majority of people would simply not want to live directly in a mountain range (meaning living on the summit of Mt. Elbert as opposed to in Denver) or in the Arctic or Antarctic circles (and even in the Yukon Territory in general, not all of wihich is in the Arctic circle). There are also other areas where land is extremely unstable due to fault lines or unsatisfactory topsoil, and there can be other areas with annual or regular flooding. Don't get me wrong - there's still plenty of room for expansion, and Japanese/Tokyo method of building up rather than out still exists as well. It's just that 30% seems like way, way too much. I'd guess closer to 15-20% is available land that is habitable (and a lot of that will be up for debate as well, including in the middle any desert or tundra as well)

You should have showed them some of the stupid f***ing posts with all the f***ing profanity

QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 11:23 AM) This will be a very close game.. The Ravens will be tough to beat. Flacco has had a great year and I have always loved their D. I like that more. I'm looking forward to the game.
-
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 11:10 AM) My confidence has been up all year. I've faith and a lot of passion for my team. And they almost lost to a Falcons team that isn't nearly as dangerous defensively nor versatile offensively. I like the 49ers chances, but there's no way I'd bet on either team this game.
-
QUOTE (SOXOBAMA @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 11:04 AM) Can't wait for the 49ers to WIN their 6th Super Bowl. My friend couldn't wait for a Peyton-Brady reunion in Denver, and then couldn't wait for Tom Terrific to do his thing in Foxboro. Might want to bring the confidence level down about 5 notches there.

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 10:34 AM) How the hell did you remember this thread? Saw it when I was looking for another this morning. Decided it was time for a bumpity bump.

QUOTE (WilburWilhelm @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 09:19 AM) The theory should have been - batting Adam Dunn third all year long was the difference between winning 83 and 85 games Because he wasn't a poor #3 hitter.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 23, 2013 -> 09:10 AM) And he was in the NBA last year. True, but it's not like it was me or you playing Scalabrine. Scalabrine is still a boss.
-
First guy he played was on Syracuse's roster last year

And the winner is - ss2k! Legendary bump is....legendary

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 03:16 PM) It all started with Viciedo needed to be platooned then the response was "you wanted to trade for Greinke" and it ends with "what 3 win player do you platoon Viciedo with." I'm aware of how it started and progressed. I didn't ask that. I merely stated that the reason you get called on is because you fail to back your bold assertions, instead trying to turn them around and change the topic when you get to a point of having to explain your assertions.
-
QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 02:20 PM) Why fix any problem? These are the kinds of responses people have called you out on before. Answering a question with a terribly vague, generic, somewhat unrelated question of your own to change the topic and veer off course. If you are going to make bold assertions, you need to be able to back them up.

QUOTE (TomSeaverFan @ Jan 22, 2013 -> 01:25 AM) This is a great thread, but it might be expanded to include How to Slay the Tigers {AND} Royals and Twins. Sox have had some problems in divisional games. Sox went 14-4 against the Twins last year, and swept them twice. Won every series against them. Should be no different this year. The Twins suck.

QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Jan 21, 2013 -> 04:43 PM) I'm not saying you're wrong, but how so? Due to the free hanging form of the weight itself, one slip and the weight itself can sway and hit you in the face, the arm, or other parts of the body on either the way up or down. When doing so, the least you'll end up with is a scratch and the most is probably deep contusions and/or open wounds and gashes from cinder blocks falling on your face and or arms. If you drop one side of it, the other arm can also be snapped in the opposite direction (if left cinder block falls, right arm snaps to the right), and such sudden, violent, and jerky motions can also lead to injury. It just far, far, far safer to lift with regular weights, because honestly, lifting regular weights can be dangerous enough if you don't know what you're doing.
