    i am drunk

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 01:51 AM) From delusion lead me to truth. From darkness lead me to light. From death...leadme to eternal life. Soxtalk, I solomly swear that i will no longer jerk off in public with the possums and racoons/ Guess I'm the only one left. Oh well.
  2. QUOTE (qwerty @ Jun 25, 2010 -> 02:01 AM) I fully take that as an insult, which it likely is intended to be. This 9 game win streak started on june 15th against the pirates. Coming into that series the pirates lost 8 consecutive games. You better believe they have something to play for at that point. No one wants to lost 8 consecutive games, let alone 12, or potentially worse... even the worst team in the majors. Do you know how hard it is to prevent a team a win after 8 consecutive losses , 9, 10!? Then to prevent a team during that very same winning streak from extending their five game winning streak to 6, or potentially even greater? Unheard of. No to mention they extended a three game losing streak the nationals had to six... a team that was, and is to this day not terrible. We even faced strasburg, something this league may have never even comprehended up until this point. While the nationals are not even league average, they do indeed have talent, and promise. The first six wins were on the road. Winning six games in a row, on the road, against even the worst of teams in the league, is an accomplishment in itself. I don't see how this can be considered anything other than a spectacular run... barring everything they had to do to lead up to this point. Even if they end up 20 under by the time the season is over... the sox brought happiness to each and everyone of us... even if it was just for 7 to 10 days out of the entire season. It's something. Enjoy it. God bless us, every one.
  3. QUOTE (Chi Town Sox @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 03:53 PM) I'm thinking it was just a thought of his as Crawford was up to bat, and stayed in Left the next inning. Then boom, he's out. I'm sure it was, but it's a bit of an overreaction when there are several other more logical explanations for a guy being pulled in the 3rd, like a minor injury or a managerial decision (as Maddon has pulled Upton for not hustling before) as opposed to a trade. Desmond Jennings hasn't exactly torn up the minor leagues this year either, and on top of that, he's been a bit banged up too.
  4. QUOTE (EvilJester99 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 05:08 PM) Nix gets waived and the Sox go on a big win streak... coincidence?? I think not!! Actually, I'd argue that it's completely coincidental. They started the win streak with Nix on the bench. Teahen going on the DL and the Sox getting fantastic defense at 3B has more to do with the win streak then Nix being DFA'ed. Overall, Nix neither added or detracted anything from this team, and that's why he was DFA'ed.
  5. QUOTE (TitoMB @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 04:03 PM) Nine in a row.. how awesome would it be to run this streak to double digits?! Man, 10 in a row.. that would be SICK! f*** 10, put up 15 or 20
  6. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 12:31 PM) Nobody expected Dunn to have to settle for a s***ty 2-year deal with the Nats last time he was a FA. I thought he'd get 4 years and big money easy, but apparently other teams didn't think he was worth that. Adam Dunn is a major K threat who has always had issues following him around like the infamous "Adam Dunn doesn't like baseball" saga and the "Adam Dunn doesn't try" stuff. Beyond that, Prince is elite, Adam is not. Adam is a guy with some of the biggest raw power in baseball and is LH, and he walks a ton, but he's not the hitter Prince is. He's not the name Prince is, either. .281/ .382/.540/.922 - Fielder .251/.383/.522/.905 - Dunn Personally, I'd argue that Fielder has been and has the ability TO BE elite, but Dunn is the more consistent performer. Dunn's put up an OPS of .900 (if you give him .002 points in 2008) in 4 straight seasons, and he's had a .927+ OPS in 5 of the past 7 years. Fielder, on the other hand, has put up .831, 1.013, .879, 1.014, and .842 (which doesn't include his homer today). It's more arguing just for the sake of argument, as I'd give up my left nut for either one of them.
  7. QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 12:04 PM) Carl Crawford was just removed from today's Rays game in the top of the 3rd for absolutely no reason. Has he been traded??? The Rays are in the thick of a division race, why would they trade a guy who is arguably the best left fielder in the game?
  8. I think it's ok for Williams to go get a bat now.
  9. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:42 AM) Don't get me wrong, I love Prince Fielder. But if we aqcuire him, it would likely be for a package of Hudson, Flowers and Viciedo not to mention his large contract for 2011. If we are paying Prince Fielder 11 million next year, that pretty much all but ends the possibility of bringing back Konerko and AJ. Who will replace AJ at catcher next year if we deal Flowers for Fielder? I wonder if KW can be swift and have Milwaukee pay about 6 million of his remaining salary? If he does that- we can likely re-sign AJ. . . As far as Adam Dunn goes. Although he is a Type free agent, he would likely cost less than Fielder in regards to prospects. And Im sure Washington would rather have guys they can immediately insert into their lineup for next year rather than wait for the draft. . Why would Dunn cost less? He's essentially the same exact player as Fielder, apparently doesn't want to be traded, the Nats don't want to trade him, the Nats want to sign him to an extension, and he's a Type A free agent. He's probably going to cost the exact same as Fielder.
  10. You will get no love from me gypsy
  11. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:36 AM) I'd like to see Prince acquired and swinging the bat in a Sox jersey. He's going to command a ton of money, and I wonder if KW would even try to sign him if he were acquired. Maybe they could throw in a clause that guarantees him free Chicago pizza for his tenure a Sox? Better be cheese or mushroom pizza
  12. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 06:37 AM) NL teams or not, the Sox have now won four consecutive series and are trying to sweep a third straight. This team has got its stuff together, and it started with the pitching. If it keeps up, and Quentin earns the T back in his name, the Sox can go back to playing AL teams and beat them, too. And speaking of Quentin, RBIs are hardly meaningless. It is amazing, though, that he could end up with over 100 RBIs with an average below .240. I hope he's back, because if he is this team just gets more dangerous. Five
  13. QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 11:28 AM) I just dont see KW trading 2 long term position players and a potential 2-3 type starting pitcher for 1.5 years of Fielder, especially with Boras as his agent. Be prepared for the Adam Dunn rumors to continue to heat up because it makes the most sense for the current state of the team. Adam Dunn does not make the most sense for this team. They'd only have him for this season, they'll have to pay out the ass to get him (because he'll almost certainly be a Type A free agent), and they won't be able to resign him. I think I'm going to trust the guy who has proven to be accurate before over pure conjecture and assume that the Sox are atleast talking internally about acquiring Prince Fielder.
  14. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 24, 2010 -> 10:55 AM) I'd prefer it stay that way honestly But if you have to get him a game (and you're right, can't sit him everyday), put him in for Kotsay, not Rios. I agree, but Ozzie apparently can't get enough of Kotsay. I mean, I understand why, with him being so talented and all.
  15. Jones hasn't played in a while. You know Ozzie's not going to take Pierre out of the lineup, Quentin's on a monster rampage, and Rios hasn't been blowing the world away recently. I'd prefer if Jones played for Kotsay, but eh, whatever.
  16. QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 11:34 PM) I was gonna post and then thought nah this will never fly but what the heck. What about Tyler Colvin from the Flubs? He seems to be adjusting very well to MLB pitching and has power and a good eye. He is not a K machine so far but is an outfielder. Maybe if we could look at him as a potential DH to spot start in the OF and 1st base? I don't think the Flubs would ever consider letting him go as he has 2 ARB years left after this one but you know they are going no where and Jim Hendry gets fleeced quite often. Do we try looking at him? No. Never has been a very good prospect. He's under team control for another 5 years after this, and there's no point in buying high on a guy that might soon return to mediocrity. He's not a game changer, and he's not worth any price the Cubs would ask.
  17. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 11:22 PM) One more and this team will do something that even the '05 club couldn't do. Yeah, but the 05 and the first 0.62% of the 2006 team did it, so suck on that one Mr. Stats!
  18. Well, we just won a series against a legitimate National League team. That's nice. 8 in a row, 12 of 13. Crazy to think that 2 weeks ago, this team was 9.5 out.
  19. QUOTE (soxfan3530 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) Yup. Can you imagine Vlad on this team right now. Pains me to look at his box score every night. Vlad has benefitted just a little from playing in Arlington. Home - .373/.403/.655/1.058 Road - .259/.317/.411/.728
  20. QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 11:08 PM) Mariners are up 6-1 on Cubs with 10 hits, 3 of which are infield singles, 6 shallow singles to the OF and one bloop double. Lee seems to be putting them to sleep. I really hope someone other than the Twins gets him. If you replace Blackburn's killer 5.80 ERA with Lee's 2.44, the Twins are gonna be ridiculous. I see no reason why they won't get him though. As good of a prospect as Wilson Ramos may be, they just locked up a guy for 8 years to do his job.
  21. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 11:02 PM) Or maybe he will blow it then I can rip the living s*** out of him! Ha
  22. QUOTE (daa84 @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) man i love quentin when he gets hot...he definitely has the potential to end the season with 25 HR The dude can carry a team on his back. This team is really, really fun right now.
  23. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) Actually, Balta is close, Thiggy put that up during the 1990 season. Thigpen wasn't even on the Sox in 94. I, uh, cited the '90 season.
  24. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 04:02 PM) Buerhle Buehrle wasn't a 1st round pick.
  25. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jun 23, 2010 -> 03:55 PM) I just say that stuff to SoxAce because he always shows up to tell me I'm wrong. We're enemies. I see where you're coming from on Teahen but I just don't think he's good enough defensively to play all over the field like that. But I do think he brings something to the table that could help us in kind of a Rob Mackowiak kind of way, with less defense but a better bat. The whole crux of my argument though was that Teahen doesn't need to be a starter anywhere on the field and Sox fans shouldn't accept him as one. They should demand better. But yeah, Teahen as the lefty makes Kotsay redundant. Viciedo would do the same to Jones if he gets going, although not having another true OF back up would kind of suck. You absolutely need another backup outfielder besides Teahen, especially because he can't play CF. Beyond that, Jones adds an impact bat to the bench, which is something this team does need - Viciedo's presence or hypothetical emergence would have no impact on that whatsoever.
