  1. QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 09:01 PM) Fixed someone doesn't understand the term VORP
  2. QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 09:00 PM) .361 OBP ain't that bad. I'd probably prefer Jerry Owens with no consideration of financial status.
  3. QUOTE(Linnwood @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) Well in that case, Texas can have him. Rather, Cleveland, with them trading back for Coco Crisp
  4. QUOTE(BaseballNick @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 10:03 PM) You're right. Thanks for straightening that out. Vazquez make it a lot more tolerable. Losing Chris Young hurts that tolerability
  5. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 11:00 PM) It's good to hear that Cabrera wants to mentor Richar veteran players aren't always open to the idea. It does help that a. Cabrera was brought in to be the starter on a different team b. Richar plays a different position
  6. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Does Cleveland still have the Korean gay porn star? They could take hot dog eating to the next level. He's actually a part of the Oakland A's organization
  7. Damon has a NTC to the White Sox, and as I recall, wouldn't accept one, which debunked every Crede for Damon rumor there was.
  8. QUOTE(29andPoplar @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 08:16 PM) I wouldn't be too sure you're right about all this. You have no more clue than anyone else what could or couldn't have been done, nor a clue how the team will be constructed. After all, you are the guy who said, "What's sick is we are letting Buehrle go, while extending Vazquez ... SICK SAD SICK SAD. I have a 4 yr. old son I've tried to turn into a Sox fan. Now, I don't have a single argument for why he should root for the Sox. Frankly the Nationals are more worthy of fan support. Buehrle will be at 280+ wins at age 40. Again, the sick thing is almost 200 of those wins will be for another team." Maybe it's better to wait and see how it turns out. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAACCCCCCCKKKKKKK !! When people seem to be sarcastically saying "Logic has no place here" they are actually not being sarcastic, that is the truth. Logic has no place on these boards.
  9. I actually like Patterson, but then a left-fielder would have to be brought in. The only left fielder with a big enough impact to make up for Patterson's .300 OBP is probably going to jail.
  10. QUOTE(rockren @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 03:09 PM) Uribe will be given away. I think it will be somewhere in-between, but closer to given away than getting decent prospects. I see it being a bullpen arm, though obviously probably not a good one.
  11. QUOTE(bmags @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 03:51 PM) this is 2007 nobody looks at baseball cards touche
  12. QUOTE(Jenks Heat @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 03:43 PM) OC will help Fields like Guillen helped Ventura. The OC thing looks better when you look beyond the back of the baseball card and into the clubhouse. I actually think it looks just fine when you look at the back of the baseball card.
  13. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) How would that have been remotely possible? You can't piss in the air and convince them its raining... Sure you can; you just have to drug them first
  14. QUOTE(YASNY @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) Anyone have anything on Armstrong? From what I recall reading, good defensive catcher. That's about all I remember. QUOTE(SoxPride56 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 03:44 PM) I don't think that taste is there... White Sox lore; I thank him for that and not much else
  15. QUOTE(PAUL KONERKO 14 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 02:42 PM) Just trade him for two decent prospects and I'm fine. Just curious, how do you define the word "decent"?
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 02:08 PM) Fields really isn't that athletic on the field. You would never know he was a collegiate QB. I'm one of his biggest fans on this site, but I was kind of disappointed in his speed. Would you at the very least agree he would be better utilized elsewhere on the field?
  17. QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) Considering the old stiff we got for young Garland, I hesitate to see what we'll get for Uribe. Two minor leaguers who will never sniff the big leagues. KW is in a major trading slump. Make a GOOD trade for once, Kenny. The Sox cut $5 mill, got the 10th best SS in the league last year (not including defense), are lined up to either have a shortstop for the next 4 years or get 2 draft picks, and you can't stop complaining because KW traded one of the boys from the 2005 team. Guess what Greg? Sometimes change is necessary, and this is good change; there is an upgrade defensively, an upgrade in the lineup, the team got faster and smarter on the base paths, and a team leader has been brought in. I really don't understand why everyone is so upset about this trade; the value for a starting pitcher with 1 year left on his deal who is pretty mediocre and is expensive is not that high. I figured people would have realized this after the Freddy Garcia deal last offseason, but apparently not.
  18. QUOTE(thedoctor @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 12:53 PM) local radio reports that the indians will announce the signing of relief pitcher masahide kobayashi today. i heard the guy's a hot dog... and that he eats himself
  19. QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) No kidding. Knowing KW and Jerry it'll be trash and cash. How did we win a WS in 2005? That is what I want to know? WITH PITCHING
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 09:56 AM) I'm going to be seriously pissed if Matt Holliday wins the NL MVP today. I know there's no clear cut best player from the National League this season but I would have a problem with them giving the award to a guy who put up a road line of .301/.374/.485/.860 to go along with only 11 of his 36 HRs. There's a 300 point difference between his home and road OPS, how can you give the award to a guy who is merely "good" when playing away from his joke of a home ballpark? IMO Chipper Jones and Prince Fielder were much better than Matt Holliday in 2007. Hell I'd be satisfied if Howard or Rollins are given the award despite not being "great" last year. Rollins wins. Personally, I would have had no problem giving the award to Holliday, even given the fact that he was merely a good player on the road. It's still impressive as hell to put up a .376/.435/.722/1.157 in half your games, no matter where you play home games.
  21. QUOTE(CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 01:20 PM) ...Personally I think Paulie may be next to go. Seems the emphasis this offseason is on defense ,speed, and surprisingly a looser clubhouse. My feeling is it's possible that we keep both Crede and Fields. Keeping the superior D of Crede at 3rd and possibly moving Fields to 1st base though within the organization we haven't heard of Fields playing 1st. Echoing a thought fathom has stated earlier, I have no problem with Konerko going; however, if Konerko is being traded to have Fields be moved to 1B, KW may as well be fired, because that's absolutely dumb that you have one of your most athletic players on the field playing 1B.
  22. QUOTE(greg775 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 01:53 PM) The question is ... how old is he now? Rumor in media I've read is he is another guy with doctored birth certificate. I've never read anything like that, so if you could point that out, it would be great. Secondly, even if they hypothetically added 2 years to Cabrera's age, that would put him at 35; if he ages as well as Vizquel, that would mean he'd still be a good offensive shortstop for the next 5 years (age 35 through 39), and if Silveiro is as good as the White Sox seem to think he is, he should be ready by age 21. So I'm not worried in the least.
  23. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 09:07 AM) Let me dream here.... 1) Owens, LF 2) O. Cabrera, SS 3) Konerko, 1B 4) Thome, DH 5) Dye, RF 6) Hunter, CF 7) Crede/Fields, 3B 8) Pierzynski, C 9) Richar, 2B DAMN!!! any lineup with Owens leading off is a bad lineup...so the phrase "DAMN!!!" is misplaced here. If Crede were kept, Fields would be in LF with Owens in the minors and Cabrera leading off. QUOTE(Colorado Sox Fan @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 11:47 AM) There's something I don't like about Coco. Not sure what it is, just something. The fact that he is not a good hitter.
  24. QUOTE(IowaSoxFan @ Nov 20, 2007 -> 08:56 AM) If KW trades Crede to the Twins he needs to be canned ASAP. There is no value in trading Crede at this point. The better move would be to trade Paulie and move Fields over to first. No
  25. I also have to imagine the Sox are going to pursue some type of insurance for the rotation this offseason; if I were a betting man, dare I say Freddy Garcia on about a 2-year, $12-16 mill deal?
