QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Jan 11, 2013 -> 03:30 PM) J) For an added bonus, when you walk around Asian countries sporting a New Era Sox cap, girls think your cap actually says "SEX" and not SOX and it provides you the opportunity to explicate about White Sox baseball, haha Well played Caulfield.

People are guessing 1 yr @ $4M ?!?!!??! No way can I see that being the deal, but stranger things have happened. Too bad for AJ coming off a career year offensively.

Born on southisde, but main reason is my Dad. He grew up near the park and came from a long line of sox fans. Pretty much had no choice but to love the Sox and I'm glad that's the way things worked out!

White Sox winter meetings thread...
JohnCangelosi replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
.235 with 19 HR's is not worth much to me. Really I think if Morel was healthy we could get something something similar? Certainly it's not completely crazy to think he could do it, as awful as he was last year. But his September of 2011 showed something at least. I don't like the idea of putting any cash towards Youk right now when he's expecting $6-8M per year or perhaps more? I am not sure what the market is going to bear. I'm sure this has been posted somewhere but an interesting article about Morel: http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/news/artic...ws&c_id=cws -

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 5, 2012 -> 11:32 AM) Ramirez is likely in decline If they have the opportunity to trade him they should. I don't see any takers with the year he had last year. Generally speaking, he was awful, and I've been an Alexei fan since he's come to the team. But batting .265 with 9 HR's and a .287 OBP aint getting it done for me, despite the solid D at SS. -
'12 payroll was higher than reported, more room available?
JohnCangelosi replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
JR always has more room when we need it. And I still think this team makes at least $30M per year despite all reports of it being a hobby and not a legitimate business for JR and his investors. -
How much are you willing to offer Josh Hamilton?
JohnCangelosi replied to South Paw's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I have to admit I'm a bit dumbfounded why seemingly everyone on this board is wanting to trade our MVP from last year for "salary relief", not even prospects!!?!?!. Obviously everyone must be expecting another 2011 from him. -

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 15, 2012 -> 01:02 PM) I wish we hosed somebody into taking him last offseason. Preferably Toronto again, those assholes. LOL, haven't they had enough by now? -
It just hurts even more, knowing that this Detroit team wasn't any better than us and here they are one win from the ALCS. What a complete choke job by us to give Detroit this opportunity.

We will know who Gordon Beckham is for sure by the end of 2013. As Marty pointed out he's near a finished product at this point, so I see no problem in giving him one more year, then if no improvement give consideration to him being a utility guy.

Being in the internet business since 99, I get a kick out of these guys who wake up and finally realize they too can start a blog and put adsense around their junk posts hoping to make $$$. This is what we did back in 2003 when spamming Google was working so well for many of us. Now the game is to put up a crappy White Sox blog and link back to their site from SoxTalk, WSI, etc and hope to make some revenue from adsense clicks. Problem is you're beginning to realize that 1.49 a day isn't going to cut it, even while living in your parents basement. I'm sorry but I'm all for laying it on you for this one WhiteSoxNews, you deserve it. Add value and you will be embraced here. Self promote and you'll be crucified. Deal with it.

Sept 29 Devil Rays @ White Sox: Memorial Day Pt. 2

I like the way that the assume the last series the Rays have against Baltimore will be meaningful. Not if we win these last few games, but they just assume we won't. Can't blame them I guess but it's a bit insulting. -

These announcers are awful. Sale threw a change up and McCarver called it a fastball. Then the next batter fouls one back and they said he swung and missed. Embarrassing. -
Gentlemen, this season isn't over yet. We have a tough task ahead of us, yes. We've made it this far, and who knows by the end of tonight's play we could be in a tie for first again.

Chicago White Sox vs. Cleveland Indians

I want to see us talking some junk tonight. If we can't get up for these last 10 games something is wrong. -

QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 24, 2012 -> 07:34 AM) It's out of respect to all of our Jewish fans. Youk could have and has sat out before due to this holiday. Did we ever do this before? I can never recall it. Also, interesting that we're the only team doing this in all of MLB. I think it's because of Youk personally... -

Anyone else think it's crazy to change Tuesday's game to a day game so Youk can play? It's not like the guy is lighting it up right now. Let him sit for a game and play it at night, IMO -
QUOTE (Jake @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) I think the travel has taken a significant toll. I wish they could get an off day as a team. No, unfortunately we just ran into a good team where we don't traditionally play well in Anaheim. The KC series was what it was, we gift wrapped a few games for them also but again we don't play well there either. The truth is in the past, like 2006, I just wanted to get in to see what we could do because I thought we had as good of starting pitching as anyone. This year you cannot say that, especially since JFPINAA. The way Floyd has thrown the ball recently he definitely should get consideration for a spot in the rotation if we made it. Bottom line is yes it would be great to have some playoff baseball in Chicago and some meaningful games in the postseason. No expectations though like 2005. I'd be happy to make it and have a chance.

We are an awful baseball team right now, but what's funny is Detroit is just as bad. That 6th inning today was the worst I've ever seen defensively from a "contender". So who knows maybe we'll still be the tallest midget in the central

There's no reason to get our main guys in the pen up right now. Bring in Humber, we ain't scoring today.

QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 23, 2012 -> 02:54 PM) That's fine for fantasy baseball. He's no threat to any AL pitcher. Worst #3 hitter in baseball. High K rate doesn't work in the AL. He's the first guy I get off this team. Fine, then bat him at 5. Good luck finding a left handed bat that gives you 40&100 on the free agent market
