  1. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Aug 10, 2013 -> 12:07 PM) What notable free agents where there will be in 2015? http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2013/02/2015...ree-agents.html
  2. The walk off against Aaardsma was probably the best stroke I've see put on a baseball in my life. I especially loved the reaction from the catcher & pitcher simultaneously immediately after he made contact.
  3. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Aug 9, 2013 -> 09:13 AM) Huh? McCarthy made 10 starts that year, including 4 in September. Yes, I think he is mistaking that McCarthy start in Boston on a Monday which was a makeup from a washout a month prior. That wasn't a double header it was a day game on Memorial day if memory serves...and he pitched excellent that game.
  4. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Aug 8, 2013 -> 09:38 AM) Hickory is right and I don't like sitting in front of my computer all night. But, I might go to that MLB Extra Innings cable site next year If anyone has a playstation, you can stream it right from your playstation to your TV. Amazing quality as well. I understand not wanting to watch on the computer- another option would be to link a HDMI cable to your TV and watch this way.
  5. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Aug 7, 2013 -> 08:08 AM) Saved myself $100 this year by not doing so. I will say that, because of this thread, I had something to watch while I was at the gym last night. Fun game. Alright I just find it amazing that real fans living outside of Chicago (like I do) would ever balk at getting access to all MLB games for the year for only $100, but to each their own.
  6. It's interesting to think though, that if someone slipped something into your food or drink and you tested positive, how easily you'd be blackballed from the game. I suppose if someone close to you had an alternative agenda, this could be done quite easily, no?
  7. QUOTE (zenryan @ Aug 6, 2013 -> 04:43 PM) every post in this thread made me laugh. good job guys. I still get a kick out of the fact that fans outside of Chicago won't pony up $100 a year for MLB.TV. I mean, guys, it's 2013 not 1993.
  8. Don't look now but he's hitting .226 for the season. All of a sudden those numbers are looking more and more respectable.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 1, 2013 -> 02:40 PM) This has to be the worst team I've ever seen play baseball. Blowouts, close games. They'll always find AWTL (A Way To Lose). You think the'd be sick of all these losses to teams in their own division the past few years. This team obviously has no pride. Amazing how much money some of those guys make. I guess they feel it's owed them because they are great individual players. So many guys are stealing money. Let's look at the bright side- if we continue to get worse (which it appears we will) we'll get the #1 pick in the draft next year and hopefully be able to get a very nice position player who is near major league ready. Miami continues to win and hopefully the Astros can too and secure our position. I have no idea if there is a Bryce Harper type talent out there in 2014 but it sure would be nice if there was....
  10. QUOTE (WKamm @ Jul 30, 2013 -> 01:11 AM) If Keppinger, Dunn, Ramirez, and Flowers are still here after the deadline, it will be a failure on the Sox part. LOL, maybe in return for a bag of baseballs and assuming 95% of their contracts we could dump Flowers, Dunn or Kepp. Who in the world is going to want Flowers? Keppinger maybe has a tiny bit of value as a utility guy but it seems he hasn't drawn much interest with that robust .543 OPS (surprise surprise).
  11. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jul 29, 2013 -> 12:30 PM) Here's mine Jake Peavy: Not traded Alex Rios: Not traded Alexei Ramirez: Not traded Jesse Crain: Moved to Tampa for a package that is near impossible to speculate on Matt Lindstrom: Moved to Boston for a low level starting pitcher with a live arm and is otherwise completely terrible. Other: Nothing else of note other than the fun of watching Soxtalk cry. LOL, let's hope not, Soxtalk would be crying if this was the case. I'd be so happy if I heard Peavy and Ramirez for Matt Adams. That would be enough for me.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 01:35 AM) Don't worry. Sox are so bad at home they'll wind up as the worst team in baseball. Road losses take care of themselves. But our team is SOOOO bad at home that'll assure the worst record. From your mouth to God's ears. I'd love to have the # 1 pick next year.
  13. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 27, 2013 -> 01:24 AM) 2013 OPS+ of remaining 2005 White Sox who are still playing baseball 1) Juan Uribe 108 2) AJ Pierzynski 99 3) Paul Konerko 83 Interesting that Juan Uribe is a) still in the league and b) a bit above league average.
  14. QUOTE (Jake @ Jul 24, 2013 -> 09:02 AM) They're saying there was evidence of continued and cyclic use. I would say there's a decent chance the guy is juicing as we speak Strange that he never tested positive in the past 1.5 years though?
  15. Here's the one question NOBODY has answered. Did he juice in 2012? This year? If so it doesn't seem he was caught. Assuming he was clean in 2012, he absolutely raked so you could make the argument that it made no difference to him whatsoever. It seems that his association with the Pharma company is what did him in here, and he is just admitting guilt to that now that all of the skeletons have been removed from the closet. My guess is after all of the drama in the 2011 off season he would've been hard pressed to continue to juice throughout 2012 and into 2013 no? And if that was the case, why isn't anyone reporting a positive test over the past 1.5 seasons?
  16. The way the news is reporting it, it seems that he is accepting guilt for the 2011 season, and DID NOT test positive for anything the past 2 years. Can anyone confirm or deny this? Did he in fact test positive for something this year?
  17. I've never understood the fellatio that the media loves to perform on Riviera. Sure, he has been one of the games best closers but really, come on. Let's be honest here if he didn't have a cutter the guy would be shoveling sh*t along side the panama canal. Yet the media & commish treats the guy as if he cured cancer. Did you see that incredibly uncomfortable and inappropriate hug? Hard to watch. I agree with an earlier poster that said it would be great if he decided not to retire, then they would be forced to do this whole thing over again and realize how stupid it is to over do it as they did on so many levels last night. The idea that he was the MVP is absolutely ridiculous and the MLB should be ashamed of themselves. Maybe Sale didn't deserve it either, FYI...in a game like this it's hard to choose a clear cut MVP. But in no way does the Riviera choice make sense. In an all star game they should put this ceremonial crap aside and leave that for his final game at Yankee stadium.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 14, 2013 -> 02:41 PM) Just have to hope it's not broken and he can take the next 4 days to rest his hand, assuming he's not a last minute invite to play in the ASG
  19. I cannot believe the Tigers still think they can get anything out of Phil Coke. The guy is awful.
  20. That he has finally "figured it out"?? He's looking good at the plate and it seems the times where he's getting completely blown away is nearly non existent from the limited AB's I've seen out of him this year. After 147 AB's, he has a .347 BA and .817 OPS. I know we have him under control for another year or two but is this the time to sign him to a team friendly extension? If we wait until the end of the year, and he finished the year hitting somewhere around .320 with a .800 + OPS, he may just choose to ride out his arbitration year or two and go for the bigger payday. He's a marketable guy and could be a decent guy to build around to keep the average fan excited about the team as well. Please discuss.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jul 7, 2013 -> 04:55 PM) I could see him getting DFA'd in the future as well. There's not much reason to have him on this team. There's absolutely no reason to have him on this team unless we feel we want to relive the 2007 nightmare that was Andy Gonzalez.
  22. Anyone else concerned about the mullet he's sporting? Does this indicate he's more of a throw back type of player?
  23. Isn't it time for Beckham to be moved up in the order? He's really swinging the bat well, and seems to be figuring it out this year.
  24. It's my fault, as I have not been participating as much. Sorry guys.
