GETZ’s biggest accomplishment?
Fine, merge it. I mean there's a dedicated thread about PHing Benintendi or whatever. The Sox are quite fortunate that they possess the 1-1 pick this year or things would be even more bleak than they already are.

”I think the injury/durability concerns that will go with Smith (which is why he was an undrafted collegiate FA signee to begin with and exposed him early to the Rule 5 draft) factor in alot, too. His stuff is MLB-caliber, but not necessarily as a front of the rotation starter until he proves he can be that type of workhorse. As this season wears on, it's clear Smith will have to potentially try proving that in 2026 - because that's not happening this season. Was it a mistake to leave Smith exposed in the Rule 5 draft? Yes - but I don't think it was a travesty considering how many arms the Brewers have in their organization and on their MLB roster who Smith would likely sit behind on the pecking order for innings in Milwaukee.“ ”It’s not clear that he would be one of the Brewers’ seven best starting pitchers at this point. BrewerFan makes a great argument that losing Smith forced the Priester trade. OTOH the Brewers clearly had their eyes on Priester for a while, including at the time they cut bait on Smith. Would they have even (rightly or wrongly) given Smith a shot? They appear to have liked Priester more. We’ll see if they were right or wrong. BTW, we should probably convert this into a “tracking ex-Brewers organization starting pitchers on the White Sox” thread. Adrian Houser, who was unpitchable for the Mets last season, is having a career year. Bryse Wilson and Aaron Civale have managed the impressive achievement of making the White Sox worse.” Brewer FanaticRule 5 to CWS - Shane Smith Discussion Thread

2026 MLB Forbes teams values, Sox lose money for 6th straight year
And chose over a team already laden with $450/500 million debt that he believed was being over valued by the Pohlads...and with no opportunity to build a new stadium. Also, not his adopted hometown.

Baldwin out for the season
All those early extensions are going to be grandfathered in. Cholowsky should get the first $100+ million Sox contract.

4/7/26 Orioles @ White Sox 2:10 Chicago Time. Shane Smith SP
We shall see how this one ages.... "The average exit velocity he allows has jumped by more than three miles per hour, and his hard-hit rate has jumped by nearly ten percent. His average fastball velocity has wilted by 2.5 mph, which is directly related to the five-percent drop in whiff rate. And, because of his recurring shoulder issues, his arm angle has declined by about five degrees since 2023, which factors into the next part of our discussion. Now on the fringes of the roster, the former closer is likely only safe by virtue of being owed $25 million over the next two years; no team will pay him that much for his recent production, and the Red Sox are unlikely to waive him while soaking up such a large dead cap hit. As such, expect Hicks to be on the Opening Day roster in 2026, barring a bad-contract for bad-contract swap at some point this winter." https://talksox.com/forums/topic/90434-is-jordan-hicks-too-broken-for-the-red-sox-to-fix/&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwi3jcaN3t2TAxUGmGoFHfIBEZcQFnoECAMQAg&usg=AOvVaw1kYsCoJNLTf_63rHK2YPKM

Fire Chris Getz
Look at the top teams on that list. Almost all playoff teams. Minnesota has always been better with scouting/development. Pirates the most promising "bandwagon" team. Colorado the only one in top half that could be described as foundering. Braves near bottom is interesting. But their intl guys like Acuna... Another great chart would be career fWAR of intl players ranked by cumulative fWAR by original team of signing. SHOW ANYTHING.

They've given up the most runs in mlb so far though. I know...distribution.

His SFG BOS era's last year should have indicated that well enough to send up a bright red warning flag. Getz tried to outsmart everyone but probably got conned in the process.

Ofc, if Quero had been traded, Lee or Romo would be your starting catcher as of today.

Jeremy Haber lol. Look no further than who really runs the Bulls. Everyone else just a scapegoat for the real culprit.

Argued all off season that Quero's value and his slower bat speed/lack of power as well as glaring defensive deficiencies were not making him a slam dunk add for a contender to automatically just annoint for a starting role.

https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/o/ohtansh01.shtml Ohtani had a very good first season at 23 but his age 24-25 stats average out to around a 105 wrc and maybe a 770-780 ops. That's a bit lower than most are hoping for from Mune, yes???

Eight Sox hitters in current box score with under a 700 ops. Murakami now sitting on the Mendoza Line exactly.

Would be ten consecutive losses at home to the Orioles. Thankfully not many witnesses.
