4/25- White Sox at Blue Jays, 6:07
We all need to retreat to a private Caribbean island with no internet or satellite connection at this point. Minus the Epstein crowd.

Rockies 8-17 now. Beat the Guardians in CLE two in a row.

Palka was fun for 1/2 season and Davidson had his moments like the KC game. 2016 was the worst after that 23-10 start and then all the wheels came off...damned Rangers' debacle.

The first clue was clubhouse reaction to Anderson's All-Star selection...

41-121 pace... or 40-122 lol. Depends if you give them the benefit of the doubt or not on those other two games.

It's almost like 2004-05 cursed the Sox to never find the right set of bargain veterans to supplement a core of players... haven't even come close since the 2006/08 teams. Or Rick Hahn is the curse...more simply put.

He looked like he had the potential to be a star in years 2/3...just plateaued earlier like Giolito. Twins were right on the money trading him too early rather than too late.

FA is not the solution either. Urias Snell and Nola have all been forgettable and certainly not in the Tier 3 or K Mart Blue Light Special FA bin.

What happened now? Lost track of the ball when his stylish hat fell off and he prioritized picking it up over the catch?

Going to be trailing the Rockies here soon... only Oak and KC left to go.

2023: MLB news not AL Central-related
Peralta Thompson and Heyward all struggling for LAD... Heyward hitting in the heart of the order tonight at .179. Chris Taylor looks like he might be toast, too.

Garbage
TLR is too involved in efforts to bring an MLB franchise to Nashville at this point...

Apparently Lynn just needs to "throw more strikes" and nobody is concerned about his stuff degrading as well as his lack of conditioning... We rip on Robert Moncada Jimenez and even Grandal to a lesser extent for their lack of will to win or just collect checks...but how is Lynn any different? He's missed a lot less starts comparatively? Always takes the ball when it's his turn, except when he's hurt too?

Benintendi, Suzuki, Yoshida
It was either Kellogg or Univ.Michigan Business School. Harvard for JD. Hahn isn't exactly the front office equivalent of similarly-educated Quin Snyder...that's for sure.

Kenny Williams speaks...
This sounds more like Hahn Speak than a true reckoning... going to require a LONG LONG losing streak for that to occur.

The Pedro Hire
Kim Ng and Dan Evans (DePaul kid) as well...

I keep hearing that $15 million per season is a fair price for Benintendi... but the way you win is guys that are 2-3x more productive and often younger for less AAV. "Absolute steal for the Pirates inking Reynolds. Less than $14MM AAV, and now with the DH in the NL, aging players who reach a point where they can’t play the field any longer still have value as long as they can still hit." Ofc, that's yet another top flight FA off the market...leaving slimmer and slimmer pickings for the next two successive years of free agents the Sox would potentially be interested in. Moreover, continues to increase value of Shohei Ohtani on the trade and offseason FA market as well.

2023: MLB news not AL Central-related
Reynolds and the Pirates reached agreement Tuesday on an eight-year, $106.75 million contract extension, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post Gazette reports. Advice: There is also a ninth-year club option for 2031 that is worth $20 million with a $2 million buyout. Reynolds did not receive the opt-out clause that he had reportedly been seeking, but the deal does include some form of no-trade protection -- Mark Feinsand of MLB.com hears that Reynolds will be allowed to block a trade to six different organizations. All in all, it seems like a fairly team-friendly long-term pact for a player who has been consistently excellent since his arrival in the majors in 2019. Through his first 22 games this season, the 28-year-old outfielder carries an .872 OPS with five home runs, 18 RBI, three stolen bases and 13 runs scored.

And that's two significant extension moves now... along with 3B KeBryan Hayes, Charlie's son. O'Neil Cruz would have been the third... and still likely will be. Fun team to watch now on 2003 Royals/"We Believe"-like run.

At what point will it be riskier to keep Hahn than fire him?
Has there ever been a GM in MLB history to come into an organization with TWO failed GM’s (KW would have been fired by 90-95% of teams after 2007/09/11) stacked up above his new position with vague/opaque powers over him/her?

You Can’t Sue Your Favorite Team for Stinking, But Can You Sue Them for Intentionally Stinking? "Mr. McGuinness is claiming his own “economic damages” as a result of paying a premium price for a ticket that shouldn’t have cost so much. McGuinness, who bought his ticket on the resale market, alleges: The legal argument here is that they increased attendance by nearly 25% in 2022 in the midst of dramatically underperforming/overpromising expectations of a World Series contender, but still raised parking, ticket, souvenir and concession prices well beyond the prevailing rate of inflation all while hard capping the amount of spending in the offseason... despite losing one of their most important players in Hendricks (insurance subsidy/payment as well involved here)... and failed to replace that talent, resulting in an entirely predictable outcome for fans.

Risk versus reward. “There’s a lot of drama and intrigue, but this is always about managing risk vs reward,” the person said. “I know that’s not very exciting, but it’s how these decisions get made at the highest level,” the executive added. “A weighing of the negatives - and risks to the business - versus the positives or benefits.” At this point, what if any benefits are there (in terms of the future success and value of the organization) to continue to retain the services of Rick Hahn as GM? The Sox brand is being destroyed and the good will of the fanbase is being diminished on a daily basis. Yet there's still no action to restore the faith of season ticket holders and sponsors who were certainly...at the very least implicitly...promised a competitive product in 2023.
