  1. He just kept producing huge numbers in the minors and never stopped...definitely under the radar as a prospect because he didn't receive that huge signing bonus. I remember watching him in the SAL and everyone was talking about Andrew Jones, Guerrero Sr., Dye, Ruben Rivera, Sexson and Jaret Wright at that time.
  2. For an MVP candidate who's arguably better than TA because of his power? They would laugh at that offer.
  3. Paying Eduardo Rodriguez and certainly Javy Baez and Miggy Cabrera. Also have lost a boatland of pitchers to injury, not to mention Riley Greene.
  4. Sheffield was a much better base runner and SS coming up though...before eventually moving over to third. Certainly much better agility. Second half of career maybe the comps are more apt for where Vaughn is now.
  5. What a mess the Cubs are right now. Not exactly unexpected, of course. The big surprise was that they were so competitive until about ten days ago.
  6. That bat waggle and approach is so different...maybe in the sense that he's a better pure hitter than a true power hitter?
  7. Had a feeling Ray wasn’t going to work out that great…has been okay, but not a consistent Cy Young contender. Always had elevated pitch counts, lots of K’s and walks, struggled to reach the 6th for most of his career, not unlike Cease.
  8. Looks like the Twins are not going to cooperate. Up 4-0 late in Seattle. Would have been nice to creep a bit closer before this upcoming week’s games against Houston and TOR. Pilkington trying to hold serve for the Guardians in Colorado.
  9. You’ve heard of Daniel Snyder? The Phoenix Suns owner, at least on a personal level dealing with employees…?
  10. Seems they panicked once they realized Correa was not interested in DET, as everyone assumed. Or they just weren’t able to get as creative as the Twins. At that price range, it was either Semien or Story.
  11. Otoh, the original scouting failure was…
  12. Up to .181 and .527 OPS, or less than half of Goldschmidt’s MLB lead and 0.07 clear of Javy Baez. Hopefully that homer brought him back and took all the pressure off his shoulders. We shall see the next two series if it was permanent change or just a temporary Tigers’ blip. (In fact, Detroit now has 4 of the 6 worst qualified hitters in the entire majors by OPS.)
  13. Now imagine the lineup with Grandal and Jimenez healthy and with their legs under them, TA7/11 (Charlotte #) back, and Burger.
  14. https://www.mlb.com/video/yoan-moncada-s-monster-game
  15. White Sox have played just 5/38 (total season) home games against Central. Just wow. Won’t face Tigers again until July.
  16. Astros series over the weekend Giolito/Valdez Cueto/Verlander (uh-oh) TBA vs. C.Javier Just need to get 1/3. 2/3 would be a minor miracle. Guess stranger things have happened. Just don’t let Alvarez or Tucker beat you. Bregman having a very pedestrian season so far.
  17. Or Jimenez returns hitting like Vaughn and Burger…that’s enough for this division.
  18. Let’s be honest. These are the Tigers, the one Central team that we own the last four seasons. What’s more important is Moncada’s confidence hitting against Houston and Toronto…then Minny/CLE. But obviously a very positive sign.
  19. Yep, that was quickly broken. We did the same thing to Martin Perez but shockingly lost that one behind Giolito and the pen.
  20. 93 is right there a notch below VV and right there with Giolito recently and Lynn last night…and just above Cueto. Generally, that’s a FB speed that now gets you kilt in MLB. Unless you have a ton of movement and pinpoint location. Or face the Tigers.
  21. Trade him ASAP! Teal/green. Let’s wait for him to at least get to .200 before we celebrate that “he’s finally back.”
  22. Hadn’t homered in 21 games. May 14th vs. Yankees. The heat seems to be helping. Btw, Abreu 33 walks and 41 strikeouts. Career high is just 51 in his 2014 rookie season.
  23. Tigers 38 total runs behind the Pirates for 29th in MLB. White Sox averaging 7.7 rpg last six games and still just 26th in total runs. On the plus side, only 14 runs behind the Astros.
  24. But then they’d only get about 60-65% back…? Makes the Kimbrel move/s even stranger.
  25. Did anyone see Harold with radar gun in hand shouting to the heavens, “Just give Kelenic one more shot, one opportunity….Better go capture this moment and hope it don't pass him,”
