  1. Just shows how you can pitch quite effectively with varying arm angles, command and deception while featuring only a 90-93 mph fastball against one of the best, most patient lineups in the game.
  2. And Kapler’s self-help tomes. He’ll probably lose 20-30 pounds, too.
  3. First time all season we have legitimate hitting threats in the 1-6 spots. Lowest average .257, Vaughn at .318 and Robert .291.
  4. Because the Astros and Jays are actually really good, playoff-worthy teams. They won’t be passing anyone for the division until late July/early August. The FG odds will be in their favor from that point, barring another major pitching injury. In some ways, they are competing more with themselves and their manager. Everyone needs to be on the same page. The day-to-day lineups have suddenly improved dramatically, whatever the reason.
  5. If the White Sox win two of the next four games against the Astros and Blue Jays…then fans can start to believe in them a bit again. The biggest challenge is consistently scoring 4-5 runs a game, not going 0-2 runs for two and then one explosion the next. That’s what they will need to do against Minny and CLE.
  6. Except that’s arguably true of 95-98% of MLB hitters this year. Not exactly Silver Slugger standards. Or whatever that award is now referred to as.
  7. My favorite is the life that complaints about complaints get. But then a lot of time those same posters aren’t consistently following the team or posting in game threads, both good and bad games.
  8. Sox failures would take three Jay Cuda lifetimes tweeting everyday to fully encompass. Tigers “destroying” Rangers with a 10-1 lead. Helping out Sox in WC.
  9. Let’s see where those guys are 2-3 weeks from now, first. Zavala provides some pop but his defense has been so bad. Worse than Collins.
  10. The crazy thing is that the Astros traded for Yordan Alvarez a mere 45 days (Josh Fields the reliever) after the Dodgers signed him. Amazing scouting organization, especially Latin American operations but also amateur draft-wise, too.
  11. It’s just that these offensive spurts have never been sustainable with everyday play. See Engel, Adam. Interesting decision looming now with Burger/Mendick vs. Moncada/Harrison.
  12. Would be first win since 2019 in Houston. Also, never would have thought in a million years that Burger and Mendick would be fighting for playing time with Moncada.
  13. Who would have imagined Sox fans “clamoring” for a Cueto extension over Lucas Giolito in mid-May? Might end up being the one move that saved the Sox season from totally getting away.
  14. Up to a tie for 23rd with 271 runs scored. AZ the other.
  15. Hopefully that mattress guy made a massive sucker bet. Balta was right. Houston blowout just felt way too obvious.
  16. These are not the droids we are looking for. Robert already with four RBI’s, Verlander TKO’ed in the fourth…with no Grandal, TA7, Moncada, Jimenez involved.
  17. Gisele Bundchen the richest supermodel in history, fwiw. Next up for Verlander on the all time K list is the poster boy for free speech and wasted MA taxpayer dollars Curt Schilling.
  18. Verlander struggles when slider sweeps instead of breaks straight down. Got Mendick with it. Pitch count already in mid 70’s…Phil Maton warming up.
  19. That’s definitely Eloy’s natural power stroke already.
  20. That’s not tough to do when you’re with Kate Upton, but he prefers being the Tom Brady of MLB. Hard to blame him. 3093 strikeouts ties him for 16th all-time with CC Sabathia.
  21. Might be their only true bargain contract on the entire roster, other than Vaughn, Cease and Kopech. Mendick the way he’s going, and Burger (past tense).
  22. Cueto putting on a pitching clinic. Mid 30’s range for pitch count (34). Minimum through three. Graveman probably quite excited to (hopefully) get the SVO.
  23. .364 career average against JV still going up. Thanks, Ron! Four straight hits. 32 Ribbies for Jose. Like clockwork. Oops.
  24. 98 mph FB lined to RF by Robert. Great at-bat by Luis against one of the best pitchers in baseball cranking the velo up. Robert getting a bit emotional. Mendick continues to impress, as well.
