Sox v Rangers Game Thread

Poor Dylan tonight. Much like Lance Lynn the other game, it must be frustrating as ever going into the game, knowing he has to pitch a near perfect game, as this offense will likely struggle to score runs. Of course thank you again Mr. Hahn, for all the great roster options for Pedro to actually have available.

At least Grifol got one thing right tonight and moved Burger to #4.

Since Pedro is so good at calling out the fans, maybe he could send another tweet out to the fans, "Are you happy now, all you stupid Sox fans questioning my lineup decisions? Your boy Burger is batting 4th and not 7th."

What a 27th birthday for Touki.

"Happy birthday, young man. We want to congratulate you on the opportunity to possibly pitch for the most overhyped team out there currently, and we welcome your astronomical walk rate to the Southside!"

I waxed poetically about Remillard when he made it to AAA but man is it hilarious that grifol just falls in love with his grindiness. Impossible for sox not to be like this.

Another s%*# lineuo

The sox just use waivers like "hey I remember this guy from the BA handbook 5 years ago" and that's it.

at least Touki is a starter. It really has seemed like Hahn completely gave up on trying to build pitching "depth" at various points over the last 2 years

2 guys on the team, over an 800 OPS
2 guys on the team, over 17 walks for the season
2 guys on the team, over 321 OBP (Sheesh)
3 guys on the team, with double digit HRs

Team is Fine...quit worrying...

So Cease has to throw to Grandal and simultaneously pitch with the worst Sox defensive eight played in recent memory on the South Side.

Cease may need to strikeout sixteen and hope the other 11 will be caught behind or in front of him.

At least Robert finally gets a day off, his fourth total this year. Two of the three came after the Sox threw him under the bus in May, and one in April.

Our problems are solved!!!

Would have liked a claim in on Zach Plesac last month to be the sixth starter they failed to stash this Winter.
$3M salary this year and Arb Eligible next year. He had a terrible ERA in five starts, but his FIP was nearly half (7.59 vs. a respectable 5th/6th starter FIP 4.50).

Touki has a 4.91 ERA, 6.28 FIP. A smidge better than 2023 Jimmy Lambert (5.91 ERA, 6.66 FIP).

Yeah that seemed like a miss there.  28 years old, woulda been worth a shot.  Wonder if his covid policy breaking antics with Clevinger weighed into that decision.
