  1. Terry Francona apparently not good enough when you have Terry Bevington in waiting for Lamont. "After retiring as a player, Francona began coaching, spending several years in the Chicago White Sox organization. In 1991, he managed the rookie league Sarasota White Sox of the Gulf Coast League. In 1992, he ran the South Bend White Sox of the mid-level Class A Midwest League. As manager of the AA franchise Birmingham Barons in 1993–95, he posted a 223–203 record and won two distinctions: Southern League Manager of the Year in 1993, Baseball America's Minor League Manager of the Year in 1993, and top managerial candidate by Baseball America in 1994, the same year Michael Jordan played for Birmingham. Birmingham won the Southern League championship in 1993. He managed in the Dominican Winter League with the Águilas Cibaeñas, and he also won the championship and the Serie del Caribe in 1995–96. That team included Miguel Tejada, Manny Ramirez, and Tony Batista. Francona became third-base coach for the Detroit Tigers in 1996,[9] working under their new skipper, Buddy Bell, a former teammate of Francona on the Reds." wikipedia.com Of course, they had another chance to bring back Francona after he parted ways with the Red Sox. Essenually, the White Sox got screwed twice over.
  2. See Palka/Delmonico/Alonso/Eaton/Mazara. Rinse/repeat.
  3. Realistically, we needed Foster more but both Matt and Jose Ruiz have turned back into pumpkins.
  4. Good luck with that. But yeah, Cleveland, has three more with a wilting Tigers’ team and they’re at 9 games over now. High water mark. Pretty sure Twins got to 11 games over a couple times this year.
  5. For instance, Rays went something like 17-2 against Balt last year. This year, Orioles giving everyone a HUGE battle. Tale of two teams. And the Tigers did play quite well the last 6-8 weeks last season. Recently, Detroit has had just four homers in their last 16 or 17 games. Including three games at GRF.
  6. Tigers’ announcers (Dan Dickerson and 2006-07 Sox nemesis Craig Monroe) calling out the White Sox for a “lack of joy” playing the game, as well as chemistry/clubhouse issues. Say they don’t believe they have a run in them against better competition, team hasn’t played well even with Tim Anderson. Pointed out the Cueto quotes as well. That’s raising lots of eyebrows around the league. Could theoretically be down 4 games after tonight to CLE. Right now it’s 3 back. Credited Indians’ pitching, Clase, Karinchak added back to pen, speed, defense, contact rate and consistently pushing opposing teams with aggressive baserunning and clutch hitting (especially at home). Comped Kwan and Michael Brantley. Brilliant trades like stealing Clase from the Rangers in Kluber deal, etc. Jose Ramirez now with 94 RBI’s, btw.
  7. Saving face for Hahn...hasn't exactly gone as well as last exactly $3 million deal for Rodon. Otoh, for Hahn apologists, Cueto in roughly that same price range one of the one of the positive developments of 2022. Original move definition of bargain bin shopping.
  8. Would Jeter be willing to work with Melanie Hobson? Or Chicago's not "glamorous" enough for him? Thome/Konerko as faces of franchise with small ownership stakes?
  9. I have never once said anything either positive or negative about Chris Woodward. Tony Beasley I know through Jeff Banister's staff and his time in the Pirates' minor leagues. He's pretty solid.
  10. maybe aboriginal tribes...what's the special category for those groups who have never had any him an contact previously?
  11. Steve Jobs lol? That second run worked out pretty pretty good for investors.
  12. If the Guardians take 3/4 or 4/4 from the Tigers coming into this weekend and Sox struggle with HOU, it’s going to be pretty darned tough to recover from a really poor effort against CLE. Baltimore threatens to run them over, too. Guardians have 6 of final 9 against KC and Tampa. Sox have 6 of final 9 against the Twins and 3 with San Diego. Maybe the Padres try to lose to avoid facing 4 ATL instead of 3 seed StL/Milwaukee NL Central winner.
  13. One Pagan strike away on Saturday night…
  14. Already waived/released, just last week. We did same with Franmil Reyes’ brother and pretty sure a Vladdy Guerrero cousin.
  15. Probably too late in just a couple of weeks. Already this week CLE hosts DET for three and then there’s the White Sox this weekend. Bringing him now against Houston, CLE and Baltimore…pretty ballsy, which is the opposite of Hahn. Also, Sosa’s struggles will be used against that move from AA, and TLR not wanting to play younger guys other than Sheets unless there’s little to no other choice.
  16. Alex Call, leading off for the Washington Nationals today and playing LF
  17. Or at least make it to the playoffs like Toronto…although far from assured for now.

Except Moncada has surprisingly been better against LHP than RHP. The only hope is that is being caused by the oblique to the right side for a lefty that's causing him the most discomfort still.
  19. Seems like the dreaded second lane to home challenge of the game. Buxton made an amazing diving catch in CF and doubled off the runner at first but of course Pagan eventually blew it.
  20. Lots of rumors about a huge bet against the Nationals out there...Sanchez vs. Darvish
  21. If they keep calling plays like that catcher's interference at home...then there's no point even trying to throw runners out at all. You're supposed to not catch the ball where it's thrown but rush towards it then lunge backwards? That's not even baseball anymore.
  22. Since Kelenic was sent back down to AAA for the third time.
  23. They have to trade some of those backend relievers to free up payroll and move Lopez to 8th inning or closer.
