Sweating killed Pitchcom.

You don't hit in the 280's and 290's with that approach, you hit 175 like Gallo.

Last year opening series you had a 3/4 chance of being right with that prediction...

Anderson not running at full speed coming out of the box there...no idea why he's admiring the ball.

Reverse jinx. Except now Harrison has guaranteed starts until the last 7-10 days of July.

Cairo and McEwing both infielders...same with Getz. Doesn't seem like they receive any coaching. More broken Moncada after that five hit game.

Once again another bad throw from the outfield not caught or blocked... Lucky that ball was hit with too much overspin by Ohtani. Killt.

Needs to see 250 sliders per day until he learns how to hit all lines drives to right field and not pull off them.

Yermin claimed by SFG
In the starting lineup and hitting 7th as a DH vs. Skubal…trying to help out Rodon offensively.

Retool Time
Eloy can’t even hit in AAA. Hard to imagine any teams outside of Top 6-8 payroll ones that could assume that contract risk for whatever remaining upside he has offensively.

Montas, Q, Rodon and Pilkington all starting tonight. One thing we do pretty well besides stealing bases is ending up losing players with little to nothing to show for it. Q obviously being one of the rare exceptions. But now we’re running the very same risk with Giolito…the Twins dealt Nelson Cruz for their current young ace in Joe Ryan (Abreu deal would be the equivalent) and sold high on Berrios while managing to avoid a bad contract extension and investing that money into Buxton/Correa. They got Sanchez/Urshela back for another contract they wanted to offload in Donaldson. As it stands today, German Marquez and Berrios are the only qualified MLB starters with over 5.00 ERA’s. Berrios is at 5.86, in fact. Giolito is just a couple innings from qualifying to be third worst, although he got screwed by his defense last night. But the odds of Rick Hahn pulling off a similar set of moves as the Twins…about the same as Jackson State making it into the BCS or whatever they’re calling it these days.

Moncada Reinstated, Sosa Optioned to AAA
At least the diehard prospect fans had something to be excited about for roughly one week… And now there’s another player we can monitor in the future to see how they bungle his development. He’s not going to be the next Marcus Semien, but leave it to the Sox to keep playing the latest version of Jimmy Rollins while blocking their prospects and still simultaneously not managing to compete or entertain either. Well, I guess we did have two consecutive games of high stepping fun.

Outfield Defense
Robert didn’t butcher that play…he just doesn’t get along with walls and pulled up. And the outfield did make a play that should have eventually resulted in a runner being cut down at home. Zavala didn’t make that play, and cost another on the basepaths as it should have been 1st and 2nd, no outs, one run in already.

6/27 Sox @ Angels: One Win Changes Nothing, Fire Tony La Russa Into The Sun Gamethread (8:38PM CT, NBCSC)
What division could they realistically compete in? The four East and West divisions would not be any better because we can at least run much bigger payrolls than the Twins and Guardians, and have a much larger t.v. contract by far. In the AL East, NL East or NL West the Sox would solidly be fourth place teams and already contemplating a fire sale at the deadline.

Zavala and Sheets and Robert at only 85-90% and that’s your ballgame. Seby cost the team arguably two runs all by himself in the span of just an inning or two. 6 1/2 and 3 1/2 back feels even more because we haven’t shown any confidence in beating the two frontrunners yet. If Zaidi and Kapler really want to rub things in, he will start Rodon on Sunday on normal rest, instead of DeSclafini, who has given up something like 21 runs his last 19 IP. Even the Giants made a mistake with that extension and letting Gausman go.
