  1. This is exactly like the movie "Pi" by Aronovsky...we cracked the secrets of the stock market.
  2. https://www.ajc.com/sports/atlanta-braves/braves-sign-former-dodgers-closer-kenley-jansen/JU4Q5TBM6BEMXJ7IUFPZ7R26NM/ Braves and White Sox share a lot in common, both went after closers despite already having one on their roster (see Dodgers and Rays). The plan is for Jansen to be the club’s closer and for Will Smith to be another high-leverage reliever who could earn saves here and there. “Bullpen depth during the season is exceptionally important,” Anthopoulos said. “You play 20 games in a row and so on, and you can’t pitch guys every night. We were successful in the postseason because we had days off, but it’s different during the season to get there.”
  3. Jerry Maguire 2 on the shelf. He must have meant Jose CASTillo and not Castellanos. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/free-agents/relief-pitcher/ Still around 75+ relief pitchers to look at for Hahn.
  4. Joe Mauer 8 years, $184 million Carlos Correa 3 years, $105.3 million (opt outs after Years 1-2) $35.1 million/year Byron Buxton 7 years, $100 million Josh Donaldson 4 years, $94 million The deal also includes an $8 million buyout of a $16 million club option for a fifth year. Erwin Santana 4 years/$55 million https://m.startribune.com/twins-land-free-agent-shortstop-carlos-correa-in-stunning-105-3-million-three-year-deal/600157495/ https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/33543369/sources-carlos-correa-minnesota-twins-agree-3-year-1053-million-deal-opt-outs
  5. You guys are crazy!!! It’s 2:43 in the afternoon here.
  6. He’s nicknamed Scooter, so maybe we bring back Scott Fletcher as an infield/outfield coach??? Or have Konerko do some recruiting down in AZ. It probably won’t be Nick Madrigal, another Oregon State alum, or their former manager. “His mother, Tracie Conforto (née Ruiz) is a three-time Olympic medalist in synchronized swimming,[40] and his father, Mike, an Italian American,[41] played inside linebacker at Penn State.[42] His sister, Jacqueline, played soccer at Azusa Pacific University.[8] Conforto resides in Scottsdale, Arizona during the offseason.[43][44] He is represented by Scott Boras.[45]”
  7. It would be shocking at this point if he didn’t end up in Boston, Texas or SD.
  8. Is this supposed to distract from the Correa news? In reality, that kind of success the next two years means a Rodon-like departure due to JR’s reluctance to give long term pitching deals to anyone with TJ surgery in their past history. He does need to be better than Lynn, and so does Dylan. But how Kopech turns out might be most important of all. At any rate, Parkman will give you a 4000 word extended essay on this topic.
  9. Overall, it’s better for baseball if there are more competitive teams and match-ups. Cleveland, Balt, Pittsburgh, AZ, Colorado, Oakland and Cincy are already dead in the water. Marlins still aren’t spending. That’s 1/4th of MLB just off the top of my head. KC also might never have enough money again to sustain a winner if it requires $175-190 million payrolls. TB eventually will have their payrolls catch up with them as well.
  10. I should have said 2019/21 and not 2020. He was on my fantasy team in 19, that’s why I remembered all his XB hits, but almost as good last year playing in obscurity. https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jorge-polanco/13152/stats?position=SS
  11. They still have Rogers and Duffey in the pen, Thielbar. Former first rounders Nick Gordon and Lewis for depth/trade pieces…or Correa replacements. Most importantly, some excitement again for a discouraged fanbase.
  12. If they get back the All-Star versions of Polanco and Sano, that’s a really dangerous line-up.
  13. That gives the Red Sox Dalbec, Kike Hernandez, Story, Devers and Bogaerts as their infield. Hernandez can play pretty much anywhere. Watch them add Conforto next…
  14. There’s no way the White Sox are keeping Gio, Cease or Anderson. Put all the chips in for the next 2-3 seasons. They desperately need another pitcher, or to get someone to pay 2/3rds of Keuchel’s deal and reallocate that money. Buxton Arraez Correa Polanco Sano Kepler G. Sanchez Kiriloff Urshela Also have Larnach and Rooker…
  15. The difference is the Padres don’t mind having him on the roster all season. The White Sox have more pressure to get rid of Kimbrel…as he’s arguably going to be unhappy in a set-up role, all puff pieces to the contrary. And coming out of the 2020 season, Myers was on of their best players. Hosmer is more of an issue. With Soler, they have three starters and Hassell. Profar as utility. As it stands now, Profar has to play nearly every day. Don’t forget they already dealt Frazier when he wasn’t a good fit.
  16. I notice you didn’t include 2018. At any rate, $24-25 million players are not in JR’s price range unless superstars. It was the death of Ordonez, CLee and Buehrle…Ventura, etc.
  17. Soler can’t dictate a 4-5 year deal…that’s nuts. If it is close to reality, there’s no way Conforto gets less than four, and possibly five. Seat at the table? Not even in the same room. We’re in the poolhouse, outhouse, gazebo, some outlying structure.
  18. https://www.usatoday.com/picture-gallery/sports/mlb/2016/12/07/largest-contracts-for-relief-pitchers/95109688/ Robertson now ranks as the fifth largest all-time deal for a reliever. It was second to Papelbon at the time it was awarded.
  19. 27 $13,000,000 $800,000 $14,000,000 $13,800,000 $13,800,000 $14,000,000($22,370,370) 2023 28 $17,000,000 $800,000 $17,800,000 $17,800,000 $18,000,000($40,370,370) 2024 29 $24,000,000 $800,000 $24,800,000 $24,800,000 $24,000,000($64,370,370) 2025 30 $25,000,000 - $25,000,000 $25,000,000 $5,000,000($69,370,370) 2026 31 UFA 2024 he might just be pricing himself off the roster without 2019ish numbers…although you can argue he is still worth it even at a walk and defense driven 4ish fWAR.
  20. Myers, Grisham, Soler, Profar Machado, Kim, Cronenworth, Hosmer, Voit Nola
  21. Yeah, but Glasnow might miss the entire season...there was some doubt last year he might be able to pitch this season. Or negotiating an extension.
