Then TLR and JR should be ruled out of bounds, but then what would happen?

Congrats to Nate Jones/Carson Fulmer, back in big leagues

So when has Hahn had his own original idea about bringing in a young player or intl free agent? And had to convince JR? I wish we had a recorder on the Luis Robert discussions.... -
Or TLR’s age, asleep at the switch, bathroom breaks...ultimately, defending TLR over posters (carrying water) ends up hurting the site, as long as they don’t wish him to die. But how many jokes/comments about Reinsdorf’s hoped for demise...versus a desire for new ownership and more open-minded thinking? It’s a very fine line there between joking and something unacceptable or hurtful.

Ever since he came back and during spring training the first time he tweaked it. If they do move him to CF for Pham (Abrams to SS), he will be just fine. Probably will win a Gold Glove one year due to outfield assists.
-
Chris Snopek sucked!!!
-
Sure, a Cy Young top 5 is Dylan Cease and Clevinger is Reynaldo Lopez.
-
Way premature, still. What was his FG defensive rating last year? Top 3-5 in the majors...plus he’s dealing with a harness on his left shoulder under his jersey.

KW and Paddy were the ones really pushing it... Yermin was Sox scout John Tumminia who covered Balt... https://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/white-sox/ct-chicago-white-sox-yermin-mercedes-scouting-development-20210411-n23rzin7iref7epqlkzadnk4eq-story.html -
Hahn....took responsibility and said he was basically an idiot.

Jose Valentin, who had a much higher range factor and got to many more balls. With modern metrics, Clayton’s Gold Glove defense disappears. Moved Valentin to the outfield, also played some third and second but mostly OF if remembering correctly.

And missed on projecting Walker Buehler, Fulmer’s Vandy teammate. Hahn has never been a pure talent evaluator like a Beane, Epstein or Friedman. -
Would rather protect the pen now, make 2-3 trades for veteran relievers in June and July.

Gee, we haven't ever made that comment over the past 15-20 years. We are fortunate as hell that Rodon ended up, despite almost being an afterthought...an important piece for the White Sox, along with Yermin and Kopech. Our main strategy with Yermin, apparently, was NOT to waive him. But certainly not to give him an extended opportunity as a hitter...but, not much of a standard because they also hung on to Seby Zavala 18-24 months too long. -
I guess you didn't notice the offensive stat-line or what would have been his major league leading (to go along with the errors) 8th homer to RCF that was robbed by Rojas in one of the better plays of the season (theoretical 6th in the span of 5 games), 2/4, R, 2 RBI's, etc. According to FG, he's at -2.9 for defense before last night's error, but still on pace for a 4.8 fWAR. You can calculate the likelihood of 10 errors in 17 GP actually turning into a pace for 75-100 errors. Discounting Lamet because he doesn't have a long track record is funny. Neither did Giolito before two seasons ago. Morejon, Weathers and Baez were/are all Top 30-70 MiLB prospects over the last 2-3 years, and Clevinger was one of the best pitchers on the Indians (when healthy) before he was traded. It's the equivalent of the White Sox losing Giolito and Lynn/Keuchel for the entire season, basically. Or Kopech. If he does (Tatis) get near 35-40 errors, they'll stick him in the OF and bring up Abrams, so he can focus mostly on offense and staying healthy. As far as everything else goes, I have a right to follow an NL team, at least I think so? I'm in every Sox game thread and following when the game's not between 1-4 a.m. in China on a work night. Most of the fans here can't even handle West Coast games, and I'm probably older than 85% of the posters here at 51, so I'll put my White Sox fandom up against anyone else's. If the White Sox aren't playing (see tonight), I'll follow the Padres game or anything interesting, like deGrom versus the Red Sox. I have a fantasy league as well, so like to keep up with everything going on in the baseball world.

Why, those are almost guaranteed losses for the Twins (so far)...and can get our games more quickly to Hendriks and bypass most of the current bullpen issues.

Jesus, this just plays into the "ownership knows best/condescending crap" we always get. That's one thing Benetti isn't, at least. Or DJ/Kasper. Stone and JR will double down and protect LaRussa, it's going to become even more and more polarizing as the season moves on if we're not in first place by the beginning of June/late May when big crowds start to come out. The recent stuff with Kopech, heckling about his family/relationships...hopefully from someone not a fan of the White Sox, that shit is just unacceptable...but just goes to show in this social media era how knowing so much about athletes/celebrities can more and more frequently lead to emboldened real world consequences as many are internet tough guys/keyboard warriors. We'll never know, but would love to sit down and hear what Hahn, KW and even Cooper actually think about TLR. Royals take down the Pirates, now back to 7 games over .500 again and 2 1/2 games up on the Sox.

But Lamb actually had a very good game...?

I'm looking for examples of any team that could survive this list of pitching (and their equivalents for whatever team) and still be at least .500ish and capable of beating the Dodgers 4/7. Mike Clevinger TJ surgery, out until 2022 Michel Baez, TJ surgery, out until mid-2022 Adrian Morejon, likely TJ surgery, out until mid-2022 Dinelson Lamet, still struggling with forearm issues, might avoid TJ but still to be determined, Top 5 NL Cy Young in 2020 Weathers' (Blue Jays) son just went out of the game after one inning, had pitched to a sub 1 ERA in two starts against LAD Matt Strahm (RP/SP) knee injury K. Kela D. Altavilla Jose Castillo Trey Wingenter (late 2021) Pierce Johnson already had a groin issue during ST. Tommy Pham was almost killed, over 100 stitches in his back during the offseason...and Austin Nola just came back to the active roster after a broken finger in spring training.

I think it's more about Danks still, TBH. And the "reward" contract they gave Jose Contreras after the World Series. With Danks, he hung on and kept pitching ineffectively so they couldn't collect the insurance payouts on his deal, which would have got them 40-60% of those contract dollars. You can also look at Floyd's ending with the White Sox. Or Buehrle being pushed out because they didn't want to meet his asking price (of course, they did keep Konerko around for his farewell tour). Of course, you can look at the eventual fates of Chris Sale and Jose Quintana for further examples (or the eventual outcomes of any of the storied 2005/06 rotation as well, including McCarthy). In the end, better to maximize the return EARLY than hold on too long, right? Of course, we already have to start considering that with Giolito unlikely to sign an extension for what he believes he's worth...but his departure coming almost exactly in the middle of the contention window.

https://www.fangraphs.com/players/jaime-navarro/1009465/stats?position=P His 1997 season was a whole lot better than I remembered. It was the three following years that we all remember, with ERA's of 6.03, 6.11 and 7.84 (traded in that memorable 2000 year).

For those of you who enjoy/ed Nomadland, and it's definitely not for EVERYONE, then I would also recommend The Rider (easier to enjoy that one) or Songs My Brothers Taught Me (about life on Lakota Sioux Indian Reservation in Kyle, SD, the poorest county in the entire US.) Pretty remarkable for someone who spent her years growing up in China and then NYC to have such prescient insights into life in the American West, or Near West.
-
It would make a lot of sense, if the Mets pay at least half (assuming he continues to struggle in that market) of his salary and Giolito continues to struggle with Grandal and/or Collins. It's at least worth monitoring in 2022/23.
-
Dunning getting beaten up again by the Angels this time in the first. Is Lynn still on schedule to return? against CLE? Also deGrom vs. Red Sox is must watch, throwing changeups at the same speed as Giolito fastballs.
-
The White Sox must have the worst propensity to screw over fans in either April/May or late August/September situations similar to this one, where they leave pretty much nobody happy with their decision-making process...
-
How about you pick another team (and one outside of the AL Central) and we can talk about them, if you're so inclined...
