  1. Hahaha...deliberately trying to spark an argument, aren’t you? Well, Abreu, Grandal, Giolito, Keuchel and Hendriks have combined for something like -0.6 value, but the Sox are still sitting pretty with everything in the division resting on the Royals’ starting pitching somehow holding up. Right now, I would happily hand over the organization to the Brewers, Giants (new GM has hit FA pitcher after FA pitcher right on the head), Astros, Dodgers, Cardinals, Braves, Rays, A’s, Indians, etc., front offices and not even blink. Heck, I will throw in Kim Ng from Miami fir good measure. But, with the requirement there be a payroll floor of $150 million going forward in order to legitimately compete for a World Series title. A stronger GM stands in the way of JR and forces his owner to choose between sentimental heart/emotion and rational logic/pragmatism and risk mitigation, which Hahn mostly represents. If he’s actually as coveted as everyone claims, he should easily be able find another top position despite the clearly less than stellar FA and drafting record.
  2. Penuriously run...but still effective, given the lowest payroll in the majors.
  3. I would imagine they’re a bit happier with Jayce Tingler taking down the Dodgers in a seven game series against Buehler, Kershaw, Bauer (twice) and finally May, who arguably has the best stuff on the LA staff?
  4. Don’t want to admit they’re wrong...general stubbornness? You would think just protecting their own “investments” would be enough, though. Especially with Eloy, Moncada, Abreu, etc.
  5. Oh no, Hamilton gets the start tomorrow now.
  6. Rodon vs. Jeff Hoffman next week will be an 2014 draft match-up, Cease vs. Sonny Gray the other.
  7. Now Eaton is limping...aiyo. Miss timed his leap for the ball.
  8. Bummer for the bottom of the ninth...seemingly. Wish there was a video of Mahomes vs. Kopech in high school, back in 2014!!! 60 scouts in attendance. Patrick beat him with 16 vs. 12 k’s with a no hitter, can’t imagine being in that TX high school league or hitting against Harvard Westlake either, haha. Kopech hitting 98, Mahomes flashing 92-95. Hamilton also poking fun of the Bears for not picking Mahomes.
  9. Let’s just say a range of 90-120, with postseason making the higher range much more likely...especially if Giolito and Keuchel continue to scuffle.
  10. Not really...he knew he got it, but he was kind of diving out over the plate. Not really posting up so much. And the winds were swirling enough that it was possible it could get knocked down to the fence, but he just got the trajectory low enough to cut through the wind.
  11. Tigers suddenly 8-20, run differential -60, yikes. Another #1 overall pick on the way. Twins and Royals with reverse mirror records, 16-9 vs. 9-16.
  12. Declined a scholarship offer to play baseball. I guess this comes back to TA somehow?
  13. Arizona...Sean Elliott. The Gumbees. Steve Kerr, too.
  14. And their own reliever Sandlin. Were really pissed off at Bauers and couldn’t figure out what Jose Ramirez on the base paths was thinking, either. Tom Hamilton’s a solid broadcaster. They’re very forthright/direct in their opinions, don’t hold much of anything back.
  15. This used to be a pretty fast-paced game the first three innings. Too many walks and strikeouts. Kopech looked dominant last inning.
  16. Maton was pretty much a gas can with the Padres. Not so much today, at least so far.
  17. He’s setting a quick pace, which the fielders must love, especially with the playing conditions.
  18. As long as Gordon Beckham isn’t on the field for another pop-up near the pitcher’s mound...
  19. Home plate umpire is a pretty tough hombre...
  20. Wow...would love to see that route ever replicated again.
  21. Shades of Satchel Paige, who actually pitched for the Indians. But he directed the fielders off the field.
  22. Anderson is going to be getting a massive deal after 2024...from someone.
  23. Shades of Miguel Ascensio for KC back in the day with 16 consecutive balls...
