  1. Wow, that Birmingham roster is just dying to add the likes of Jerry Owens, Josh Fields, Luis Terrero, Danny Richar and Ehren Wasserman for depth. Micah Johnson would practically be a start compared to that list of infielders. Yikes.
  2. Now setbacks are popping up everywhere....inexplicable. Reynaldo Lopez out for 2-3 weeks due to corneal corrections. Odds that a White Sox starting pitcher gets injured just increased 75% based on the way this entire snake bitten season is going so far.
  3. Basically to prove both the Cubs and White Sox front offices wrong... and Maddon/TLR to a lesser extent. Three HoFers in Epstein, TLR and probably Joe when all is said and done because of 2016 and overachieving/modernization of game with Rays.
  4. Love all the doom and gloom articles about a team with a $245 million payroll being challenged by the loss of a single starter when they still have Kershaw/Bauer/Buehler/Urias/Gonsolin.
  5. Why would Renteria even want to return under those circumstances? Screw you, would be his response...although you did get the sense he genuinely cared for his players, fellow coaches, etc.
  6. Johnson County Kansas is the utter complete antithesis of liberal....he lives in Shawnee Mission. It's basically like Orange County on steroids.
  7. Does it really matter to choose? Somehow, we have to clear 1 and likely 2 of those teams to make the post-season, depending on how bad the situation in DET gets over the course of the season...and how determined they are to keep their top prospects down on the farm.
  8. Victor Robles should be the target if we're really all in this year...and want to competently cover CF. https://www.spotrac.com/mlb/washington-nationals/victor-robles-21289/ If not, we look at guys like Garrett Hampson (Rockies), Jackie Bradley, Jr. (Brewers will be in it all year, and suggest Avi Garcia instead) and Cedric Mullins of the Orioles, who would likely be just as overvalued as Yermin Mercedes is to the White Sox at the current moment. Of course, the question is what we have to offer the Nationals that would make them bite...and if we're willing to give it up. But Robles would be under team control through 2024, just like Tim Anderson. As someone suggested, our entire 2020 draft class for him, pretty much. Bryan Reynolds of the Pirates is another one, he's playing CF tonight for Pittsbugh, but not a natural CFer compared to his comfort level on the corners IMO. B-Rey is already 26 and would still fit the Sox window, except for wiping out much of our remaining prospect capital to pull it off. He's not (yet) expensive, so the Pirates aren't desperate to unload his deal.
  9. Because we're the White Sox and never get to keep our own homegrown players, with Konerko (and he was LAD/Cincy) the only exception in the last 20-30 years.
  10. Jarrod Dyson has a .921 OPS at the moment, lol. Of course, for the Royals.
  11. Leury better not be the answer or we're doomed...as doomed could be. Although he certainly will go on a hot streak offensively at SOME point and seem like he could be an everyday player, just like Adam Engel has managed to convince some.
  12. If TA does become this MVP-caliber player (and he's not far off right now), then what are the odds the White Sox pony up $200-225ish million for a long-term deal beginning with his age 31/32 season starting in 2025? At a minimum, he's looking at a 5-7 year contract at that point, right?
  13. Sounds like the Jared Mitchell injury, Quentin hitting the bat with his hand in frustration and breaking the hamate bone...although not as freaky as the Luzardo one over the weekend. Then you have the Burger double Achilles' tears. Hard to know what to say...we always claimed our competitive advantage or niche was Herm Schneider and keeping players on the field of play more than any other team in baseball.
  14. They already have removed Logan Allen from the rotation and McKenzie is on the verge of getting pulled as well because he's not going long enough in games. That said, Civale has been really good. He's given up 3 to the Royals so far tonight, though. 3-3 tie.
  15. Peralta is almost 2 years...pretty sure. They won't go 2+ right now, and they're not going to make a major trade until they know what the long-term prognosis for both Robert and Jimenez is. It's band-aids to get them through this season still afloat...like coming down the stretch in 2008 without Carlos Quentin, but still somehow hanging in there.
  16. Can Eaton even walk or cover ground in RF without limping...? He's the next to go on the DL at this rate. We might actually be seeing Adolfo or Rutherford before soon.
  17. But their offense is better than ours if they can fix the back end of the bullpen (Taylor Rogers will get first crack). Yeah, if Maeda is bad, but he's throwing a shutout tonight so far against a decent-hitting Rangers' club. I will bet anyone any amount of money the Twins will now make a major run at the White Sox...and it will happen in the next two months, not the second half. It's like we just directly injected their hearts with adrenaline or steroids.
  18. He should run a hedge fund, lol. Guess it's better than listening to Buffet and Munger complain about Bitcoin and SPAC's and limited deal making in the financial news, at least Ray Ray can be interesting or provocative 50-75% of the time.
  19. The Twins are only four games back...and can quickly make those back playing head to head against divisional opponents. Look at what happened the last two weeks of the 2020 season.
  20. You're underestimating the impact on our outfield defense, covering for both Vaughn and Eaton. See 2006, Mackowiak vs. Anderson arguments.
  21. There's just no way to know that...he's already set for life, financially. It all depends on his inner drive/ambition to be a transcendent baseball player, and especially get back on the field as quickly as possible to help out his teammates. That said, if the staff gets concerned about re-injuring by rushing him too quickly, they HAVE to shut down his entire season to save him from himself. There's a fine line. We can't afford more "double setbacks" like Burger or Engel more recently.
  22. No major trades with Sox pitching will occur until at least late MAY, you can book it. Rodon needs to stay healthy for those two months and maintain his velocity and K rates. Same with Lynn. Lynn would be worth a ton to playoff contenders, so that's going to be the trickiest call of all. If the season is toast, I would see how much I would have to pay of Hendriks' contract to offload him as well. We can't afford that salary for closer if we're having to replace a player of Robert's caliber long-term. And Grandal/Keuchel/Abreu are obviously concerning as well.
  23. Why not? Would rather try than simply give up. It would be history making, surely. Crochet is someone we can afford to lose more than Kopech/Cease at this point. We might want to send Reynaldo the other way as a reclamation project, but have a feeling he'll come in handy at some point this season...it's almost inevitable.
  24. That's completely irrelevant right now, like so-called titles for winning the offseason.
  25. Eloy doesn't have the arm for right... and yeah, roster wide, we have too many players without a good positional fit. I'd almost play Yermin in RF with Eloy DHing because of Mercedes' cannon. Would try to get Yermin in the best physical shape of his life, even if an intern has to stay with him 24 hours a day.
