Might as well try throwing everything this year but the kitchen sink, alas...no is the answer.

Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
caulfield12 replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I bring 50% of it on myself...that said, I really wonder about those guys who just can’t resist the urge to pile on, it’s like middle school bullying. Just makes me laugh. And it brings out a nastier side of people with many constantly trying to crack cheap jokes...almost like SoxTalk versions of Jason Benetti. Like in the minor league thread today...if I had a million dollars for every poster who fell in love with an Aaron Miles or CJ Rutherford or Chris Getz and were convinced XYZ player would make some significant impact at the big league level, I would have a a couple of billion dollars by now. Yermin actually is one of the first in ages to surprise a lot of people on the upside. And the fact that I do “get” 90-95% of what Benetti somehow thinks is funny (at my relatively advanced age of 51) means that 75-80% of our younger fanbase will not. But maybe they love that Nationwide duet nonsense, who knows. -
He’s already missing 2-3 weeks with a corneal problem causing dizziness/blurred vision.

If he could really put up his career 772 ops at age 30 and play above average defense in CF...but that second part is unlikely. You have to take your chances with Hamilton first being to put up a number in the 600s because of Vaughn and Eaton being so banged up and already 2-3 strides behind 2016 peak Eaton in the first place. -

None that JR or Hahn are willing to give up anything of value for...or we would have beat SFG offer for Tauchman. -

https://www.fangraphs.com/players/brian-goodwin/12858/stats?position=OF Four of out five years, negative defensive splits. Should fit in just fine with the Sox at age 30 and on his fifth or sixth organization. But who knows, maybe he plays closer to Michael A. Taylor with the Royals. LaRussa will go Hamilton first, though. -

So then Gallo doesn’t have enough play in CF to actually claim he’s much more than average to below average for that position...for those who watch him day in and day out, such as scouts or Rangers’ fans. -

Aren’t Gallo’s defensive numbers in RF really bad this year, at least FG’s...? Let alone CF. -

If he claims after five years of rebuilding not to be able to compete with the lowest payroll tram in baseball that already shed Lindor, Carrasco, Kluber, Santana, etc. Not even JR is that out of it. -

Unrealistic. It would require our 2020 draft class, plus. -

Engel being able to hit well enough after so much time off...and not get reinjured when his game relies so much on speed...we can hardly rely upon such a solution for the remainder of the season. It’s one thing when he had no pressure to produce as a complementary contributor. This won’t be the case already missing 2 of our core hitters. -
In his return, Rodón has benefited from his work with new pitching coach Ethan Katz. He has started using a core velocity belt in drills, a tool that goes around his hips and wraps around his legs. He does about four or five exercises with the belt and a series of bands, helping with his hips and connecting his lower half to his upper half. The result is a more fluid motion and less stress on his arm, helping him find the late-inning velocity that the 6-foot-3 Rodón had before all the injuries — though maybe not as impressive as what he is doing now. In his last outing Thursday against Detroit, his 96th and final pitch of the day was a 97.7-mph fastball that Miguel Cabrera bounced to second. He can rear back and throw once again. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/healthy-again-rod-n-savoring-194304795.html

Then we will injure Gallo trying to cover up for Vaughn and an ailing Eaton. Who are we going to trade that would be attractive enough for Texas to throw in the towel when they just opened a new stadium? -

And your solution? It’s easy to criticize, but how about a constructive solution other than Leury Garcia in CF? Why not Japan or Korea? Why not think outside the box for once? Why can’t we afford to even have a handful of scouts cover the Pacific Rim? -
Obviously it’s going to be Hamilton as long as he maintains a 575-625 ops...

Sure, you can follow the Sox minor leagues to your heart’s content...perform some kind of rituals like in Eyes Wide Shut, even.

Gee, such a challenge to negotiate the site to find it. Never mind, the hip insiders can keep it to themselves and worship Burger as the next Yerminator, lol.

Luis Robert grade 3 strain/torn Hip Flexor, est. out 12-16 weeks
caulfield12 replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
When compared with National Football League (NFL) players, professional basketball players demonstrated a higher proportion of hamstring strain and adductor strain and a lower proportion of hip flexor strains.8 In NFL players, 63% of all strains were hip flexor, as compared with 9.3% in our study. Professional basketball players had a slightly higher incidence of hamstring and adductor strains relative to NFL players. Awareness of the most common injuries to affect professional basketball players can help with prevention of these injuries. Hamstring and adductor strains can be prevented by stretching and strengthening programs directed at these muscle groups. A study by Tyler et al16 demonstrated a significant decrease in adductor strains in professional hockey players after completion of a preseason exercise program. These players were considered as high risk because of decreased strength and abduction range of motion. Similar findings have been shown in soccer and Australian rules football.17,18 Identifying players who may be at risk for sustaining adductor or hamstring strains, such as players with previous strain or decreased range of motion, may be beneficial to prevention of injury. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4555488/ Almost twice as many hip flexors in the first month of NFL and NBA seasons, fwiw. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1629837-breaking-down-how-david-lee-is-playing-through-torn-hip-flexor -

More CFers... Keon Broxton (Twins' property, cross that one off the list) Ender Inciarte (Braves) Delino DeShields, Jr. (Rangers) Orlando Mercado (Indians, cross of the list) Albert Almora, Jr. (Mets) -
In all fairness, it was RHP Erik Johnson and Tatis, Jr. All to save a boatload of money (in JR's estimation at the time) that doesn't quite add up into the hundreds of millions of dollars today.

Isn't Sam Abbott the kid originally drafted as a water polo player? And can James Beard play CF in Chicago this year, or do we need to trade for Terrance Gore from ATL?
