  1. I feel like we’ve been asked to gratefully accept this type of player as a White Sox fan for my entire lifetime...when’s the last time we had a major injury and didn’t shoestring budget it?
  2. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?ID=170913 Because a 733 career OPS guy in LF is probably not going to be enough...
  3. Please tell me this is part of some “we’re really going with Vaughn, no desperation here!” trade machination.
  4. Well, this brings to mind Pudge Fisk to LF...all we needed to do was sign someone like Profar with positional versatility and we wouldn’t be exposing both Vaughn and Robert to injury.
  5. If Vaughn gets hurt playing LF...seems idiotic not to make a trade for someone like Tauchman.
  6. Guess you got him beat...definitely have a better member name, although nothing so distinctive as his ban bet backdowns and for a longstanding personal vendetta against Jose Abreu.
  7. We always seem to overlook the TA to catcher, instantaneous Gold Glove conversion, though.
  8. You have the most optimized ratio of likes to total comments. Congrats! I won’t make a bet on whether you can sustain that without the assistance of Ukrainian bots...
  9. Viciedo was fine his rookie year in 2012 and even had quite a few OF assists.
  10. What did Ray Ray to do to get the pitchforks out for him so much these days...?
  11. I don't think the Brewers would make that trade...it's pretty balanced, because you're getting more guaranteed years of JImenez, but Burnes has the upside to be 4-6 fWAR starting pitcher, really our most critical area of need. Jimenez is going to be hard-pressed to reach those WAR numbers unless he's Manny Ramirez/prime JD Martinez/Miguel Cabrera-eque as a hitter.
  12. Barring a significant change in the official game ball, if a certain Mets' 1B can put up 50+, Vaughn can at least go for 35-40 in his best season.
  13. Greg, you're lucky you're not in China. We can get the vaccine for free, but there's 1/4th the information you guys have in America. Even with the Chinese vaccine (no access to US/UK ones), still have mandatory 14 day quarantine entering the country... at best, should be able to travel inside of China this summer. Many foreign workers are being warned it could be months before return if they chose to leave, like for a family emergency back in the US. No control over which of the five possible vaccines we might receive. It's looking increasingly likely there won't be anything approaching free travel in and out of the country until after the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics next February. TThat's barring the mutant variants overwhelming tgecdevelioingvworod before vaccines get distributed to them first. It's a real race against time.
  14. Yeah, I saw that video, body fat % is way down, decreased time to 1B, etc. It's quite encouraging. Being around professional training and nutrition staff will really benefit him as well. And certainly not every Cuban can be transformed into the Winter Soldier like Luis Robert.
  15. This is why the Cubs ended up with nothing for Schwarber... Eloy's the better hitter, but not going to fetch a premium pitching prospect. His market is already pretty much limited to the DH role in AL unless they know it will change in next CBA. What would White Sox fans give up for Yordan Alvarez, for example? Let's see some names that would be realistic, not the 3-5 player package of 40-45 FV extraneous minor leaguers. Keep in mind you're already committed to that long-term extension with Eloy.
  16. With the plethora of LH pitching options (knock on wood)... unless he's a starter with 95 mph heater and big Sale-esque slurve...Oscar should be spending all his time getting into even better physical shape (most of the way there already) and mastering the art of RF play and hitting extreme velocity pitching he didn't see in Japan or Cuba.
  17. Well, we certainly excel at position changes. Let's see, there's Josh Fields, Dayan Viciedo, Gordon Beckham, Marcus Semien, Mark Teahen, etc. And he had those two plays last year where he jumped or fell into the netting in a pretty short time span. He clearly didn't learn much from the first experience. Then you have the running joke of Robert taking every ball but to the extreme LH 15% of left-field. Thankfully, those two franchise players together at their size running together hasn't happened YET, but the results of a full-speed collision wouldn't be pretty.
  18. Sorry, since every game starts at 3 a.m. here in China with the recent time change in US, a bit difficult to follow. If you have a wife or g/f, you can probably imagine her incredulous reaction to being awakened by a glowing iPad in the middle of the morning on a work day for a mere spring training game.
  19. Maybe never making two consecutive playoffs in over a century does that to a fanbase? And since when in baseball history was it extremely difficult to find a defensively limited corner outfielder with plus offensive production (especially in a platoon) and limited arm strength? Maybe one who's consistently a 900+ hitter, but Eloy won't accomplish that if he can't stay on the field or keeps getting hurt. He will end up like Carlos Quentin at this rate. Anderson has the tools to be one of the elite fielding shortstops in the game, but makes careless errors, loses focus and occasionally tries to do too much. There's really no comp there to Eloy's limitations in the field.
  20. All I know is Skye Bolt would be an awesome name for Usain’s brother or any track and field athlete in general...
  21. This is also a petition to play Adam Engel or Leury Garcia with Eaton everyday...and trade Vaughn at less than peak value while Abreu is declining, creating yet another positional hole in the future that won’t or can’t be closed by the likes of Sheets or Collins. Maybe they get lucky and Hahn executes a trade for pitching or 1B, but not counting on it.
  22. Well, if you look at the back of their baseball cards, you’re going to see a BIT less volatility out of those three Yankees’ hitters. Now if you included Sanchez or Andujar, the comp would have been better. Are you really that confident Moncada is a 900+ ops hitter and Robert 825-850?
  23. Here we go again...we’re one more injury from being forced to make a trade or put Vaughn out there. Which calls to mind the Josh Fields debacle. The lineup suddenly doesn’t look so hot if Jimenez and Grandal are struggling with Injuries and not knowing exactly what to expect from Robert, Moncada and Abreu this year.
