2026 Old Sock Drawer
Cease looking like a Confederate Civil War buff with that bushy mustache and long flowing locks. Just strange/weird to see him in that uniform.

Ben McCollum ageMcCollum was born on April 12, 1981. He is 44 years old, but looks a little older because of his grey hair on the sides of his head. yahoo.com/sports Lol...wut? Konerko must have never faced such blatant hair/related discrimination. Or Cignetti.

Heyman mentions Sox interest in Conforto
Because Getz spending $50 million on ten $5 million players would still somehow end up with a lesser fWAR somehow than one deferred salary Tucker. And he wouldn’t even be allowed to make five $10 million signings.

All things LA Dodgers Thread...
Edwin Diaz trumpets in LA seem quite fitting. Wearing #3. Kyle Tucker doing the little things in both games so far. What is Uniqlo? Why Dodgers' stadium has new name for 202...It's a first of its kind deal for the Dodgers..

But coming off a down season with limited control. Weren't going to get Merrill or de Vries or even Salas at that point.

2029 is bad enough as is...especially for those over 50 or 60. Feels like an absolute eternity.

Let's hope not. Pitchers have zero chances to be extended...although that could change under Ishbia. We still don't know what they have in Colson and Braden. Two year wait on Bonemer...mid season 2027 at the earliest.

Always be wary of Charlotte offensive numbers not translate well. More excitement here (though) than big league lineup minus Murakami

2025-26 NCAA Basketball
The Hawkeyes rank 33rd in college basketball with their 2024-25 men’s basketball budget of $13.3 million, per Extra Points. It’s unclear how much the Hawkeyes or the Longhorns spent on their men’s basketball roster through NIL/revenue-sharing, but it is believed to be in the general range of what it takes to be successful in the power conferences: $8 million to $10 million, minimum. 2025-26 NCAA Basketball
"Hannah Hidalgo assisting on the go-ahead basket and corralling the final rebound was only appropriate to finish a game in which she could not be stopped. The junior guard recorded a triple-double with 31 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals. She nearly earned a quadruple-double, collecting 7 assists as well in the Fighting Irish’s win." espn.com Definitely the most exciting women's player.

Charlotte Season Opener 03/27/26
Two prospects on the hitting side. And Antonacci's just not going to fare very well compared to the average big league LFer on the offensive side.

And having just let's say 2-3 Top 25 MiLB prospects is more important than quantity (see CLE DET MIN). Bonemer Hagen and Braden (189 ranked by Kiley McD) are far from sure things ATM. Same goes for Schultz. Bonemer looks great right now...but some of that value comes playing SS. His offensive numbers coming at 3B or LF aren't going to be quite as impressive. Carlson also has a high range of variability from floor to ceiling as a prep prospect.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chris_Getz To be fair, the Royals had a pretty decent run from 2014-2016. Two WS appearances, would have been two titles if not for Madison Bumgarner.

Branch Rickey and the Courage to Redesign a Nation’s GameAs we watch the drama of the World Series unfold, it’s worth remembering the visionary leaders who shaped baseball’s character as much as its competition.Branch Rickey’s leadership fused idealism with discipline. A devout Methodist, he saw baseball as a moral enterprise - an institution with the power to teach fairness, courage, and perseverance. When he signed Jackie Robinson to the Brooklyn Dodgers in 1945, he told Robinson he needed a man “with guts enough not to fight back.” It was both a test of character and a strategy of transformation. Rickey’s stand wasn’t only moral - it was methodical. He believed that integrity and innovation belonged together. He built baseball’s first farm system, designed tools like the batting helmet, and pioneered early analytics through his partnership with statistician Allan Roth. Colleagues credited (Jack) Berger (Pirates) with preserving the team’s character through volatile ownership changes and social change. He once said his job was to “remind the city that the ballclub belongs to its people.” He became the moral and emotional translator between Rickey’s grand principles and the everyday business of baseball. My father often spoke of Jack’s loyalty - his handshake meant more than any contract - and his belief that Rickey’s lessons about faith and fairness belong in both boardrooms and ballparks. and scouting scouting scouting!!!

Luis Robert unsurprisingly one of the stars of the day....especially long pitch sequence first inning walk. Was down 0-2 and battled back with lots of foul balls.

And majority weren’t Murakami K’s either. Not even close. Of course, that’s Braden’s biggest concern right now, too.

Have grown arguably by just $200 million during the last decade while Big 4 professional sports franchise values have exploded. Which is pretty close to the capital gains tax he's been ducking for his kids. SD meanwhile has doubled in value by spending to build an impressively loyal attendance base... and signing lots of talented players fans actually want to watch play.
