2025 MLB season...catch-all for non-Sox, non AL-Central
caulfield12 replied to caulfield12's topic in The Diamond Club
https://www.mlb.com/news/twins-win-13th-consecutive-game-scoreless-innings-record Twins have quietly won 13 consecutive games... -
If he's just an average closer. If he somehow manages to be elite...let's say Top 3-5 in the game, that still provides a whole lot of value to a contender.

Arlington Heights making stadium pitch to White Sox?

Back to legislative action in Springfield. Good luck with that. "The team said it will not request state funding for the stadium itself but has lobbied for legislative support to secure infrastructure certainty around the broader mixed-use district." -
https://www.fangraphs.com/players/adrian-houser/12718/stats?position=P "JuST" 32 and averaged about 1.4 fWAR per season before collapsing last year. A better Flexen? McKendry Shuster Clevinger Dunn Nastrini Iriarte Wikelman O.White C.Rodriguez Schweitzer all somehow worse options... Gilbert will be on the shelf for at least a month or two btw. Martin Perez until at least July. Adisyn Coffey or Dan Altavilla next men up in the bullpen merry-go-round.

https://www.teamrankings.com/mlb/stat/runs-per-game?date=2024-05-19 Technically last year was worse. On this date a year ago, the Sox were 0.76 runs per game worse than the 29th worst offense in baseball. That was beyond abysmal. This year 28th and close to falling behind KC for 29th.

Greg it's one of the oldest parks in mlb now. 35 years is a lifetime with how things are changing. Fenway Wrigley Dodger Stadium the only ones older, maybe Anaheim. So fifth oldest. -

Burke has arguably been their fourth best starter...fifth, if you count Martin Perez.
-
Other than Vargas and Meidroth outplaying expectations overall…they’re still 2-3 middle of the order hitters short. And still not convinced Sosa and Baldwin are long-term pieces.
-
The Blue Jays rebuild also fizzled out…although they did ultimately pay a high price to keep Guerrero, it’s quite hard to discern what direction they’re actually going in. Next, SD is 3/5 making the postseason and you can make arguments about financial stability long-term, but they at least became a legit contender. Ultimately, the success of the Astros Royals Cubs runs in that prior decade tricked lots of other teams.

Cease would have been the perfect move to supplement Burnes...and Elias could have offered a decidedly better package. Not sure Burnes was ultimately going to end up anywhere but the West Coast. Another weird part of this was Flaherty being garbage the prior year but getting straightened out in DET and LA.

Sheets .295/.836 Still hanging in there.

Maton Colas and Tauchman struggling mightily, but somehow overcame Acuna JR HR and his four walks...Nastrini gave up five walks in getting a hold just by himself.

Diamondbacks on pace to score another 18 vs. the Rockies... 7-38 if they lose...just a question now of how much lower the futility record goes -
Det +14 Twins +6 first time in second all season Guardians +5 Royals +3 White Sox -18 16 games back

"The demise of the 2024–25 Orioles and the window that never was is another example of why front offices need to stop talking about building “sustainable winners.” Windows for most clubs, other than the richest few, open and close quickly. When one does open, as it did for the Orioles in 2023, teams need to pour their resources into the moment rather than trying to foolishly think they can sustain success. Think the 2015 Royals getting veterans Johnny Cueto and Ben Zobrist to finish off that core group." si.com

Pull him.

Quero 19 singles and just 3 doubles...
-
20 rbi's for Vargas...team leader.
-
oh okay onlyradio a Gameday strike zone and Cubs' radio
-
Quero pushing strikes into balls…that was they key hitter, #3 in the inning. There’s the game again in all likelihood. Early knockouts. 38 rbi’s for Crow-Armstrong. Burke not great at holding runners, either.
-
Good start...but so was yesterday until the fake takeout at second. Just hope we get good Burke.

White Sox reportedly trade w/HOU for Miguel Castro

Yes, but it's also fair to look at what could have happened...he's not exactly lighting the world on fire just yet. -

https://www.milb.com/player/hyun-seok-jang-815794 That's the Korean teenage pitcher who was going to be the top choice in the KOR draft...who we helped the Dodgers sign with our intl pool money.
