BIRD-EYE. Well, Hahn, if he was throwing this well in 2016, we might have made the playoffs that year. Your grand mastermind plan could have worked, after all.

But clearly Drew Anderson was the BEST option. Okay. Sure. Not a great amount of movement on his pitches, but 97-99 will work just fine if it's well located.

Wish he could throw that slider a little bit softer, but has looked good so far.

Other than watching LUIS Robert and Burdi, this game is completely pointless now. Thanks, Ricky Ricardo.

2016-2018 Yoan Moncada there. YIKES. Shell-shocked. Need Timmy Anderson's leadership and cockiness back out there on the field.

Scott Merkin is more objective.

The Indians did the exact same thing to a much better Reds' starting staff. Came into series flat, lost a game, then just ran over them like a steamroller, seems they're repeating that trend. Giolito really needs to pitch well tomorrow night or it's going to get out of hand in a hurry.

For once in his life, PNoles is actually correct.

OR OR OR We could have used IAN HAMILTON instead of Drew Anderson. ANYONE ELSE. But no... Heck, we could have used Lin-Manuel Miranda and gotten a better result, in tandem with Larry David.

You just wonder if guys like Renteria and Cooper spend any restless nights playing over these games in their heads? At least Ozzie, the first half of his White Sox career, he had that fire/passion/desire...until his personality and ego got in the way of things. But at least he had the right instincts and intuition to manage the team effectively.

Hitting with RISP should be right around 0.075 about now. That's REALLY hard to do, for even the very worst teams in baseball history.

White Sox hits=5 Indians hits=5 Score, Indians 6, White Sox 0

Or put in Detwiler. Either way. They were playing with fire as soon as Anderson was inserted into a tie game. And it blew up in their faces. Bigger picture, Hahn and Renteria can fall back on the injury excuse, but this was a winnable ballgame. The Indians were really scuffling offensively, Lindor has been trying to do way too much from the 3 hole and getting out of his game entirely....but you could just see him rounding 1st base and forcing the issue at 2nd, it was like he knew he had to be safe, you could even see the determination/frustration etched on his face. Superstars lead. Luckily, Cleveland can't afford to retain the services of superstars, except LeBron in the NBA.

It's not something that requires MIT/Cal Tech/Carnegie Mellon levels of intelligence to figure out, is it?

Well, can't pick an AL team because the White Sox might actually be competing, finally. Actually, Cardinals were my NL team (anti-Cubs for entire 80's and 90's.) The Padres were about 1) what if the White Sox had a certain two players we won't name, alternative reality and 2) an organizational mindset of desperation to win, and 3) two organizations that were similarly stacked in minor league talent top to bottom but two entirely different modus operandi to get back to the playoffs. Also, similar length of years missing the playoffs. And I definitely wasn't going with the Marlins or the Mariners...

We love to watch Ray Ray run out of game threads if this is going to be the canned response of defending the manager when everyone called the big inning before it even happened. I know I did. Have you ever watched Anderson pitch in the spring, at least? You're telling me they had NO OTHER CHOICE BUT to throw Anderson out there for a second inning of work? Against their 4 best hitters? C'mon. You're better than that, man.

Well, it's not like we don't have expanded rosters. It's not like Anderson has ever been a credible big league reliever. It's not like you couldn't sense the entire inning getting away after those first two runs scored.

This is honestly why I had no choice the last year but to start watching the Padres... RENTERIA doesn't have a clue how to get this team to the next level. Epstein saw it. Didn't take a Harvard or Cornell education to figure out that much.

We'll go through stretches of dominance against KCR, Detroit and the Pirates, probably even the decimated Cardinals, but we're still a long ways from being a top AL ballclub. Have a feeling that's going to get exposed on national televion tmrw night. Luplow was like 0 for the season, lol. WHY THE F--K did they leave Anderson out there to dry when the game was still a game?

Now Mendick struggling out in the field. The tenor of this series just completely changed....thanks to Lindor's hustle/moxie and bad White Sox decision-making and defense/nonchalance.

Without that Lindor slide, this game is probably 0-0. Well, maybe. GAME, SET, MATCH. PREDICTABLE. EMINENTLY.

The Indians' announcers questioning why the White Sox even signed Grandal with McCann in the fold already.
-
8.8.20 GT | Clevelanders @ White Sox | 1:10PM CT
Well, this was the nightmare scenario with Grandal's defense rearing it's ugly head. Haven't even put a ball into play this inning, other than Lindor's "double."

Reyes has been hot recently with RISP, and Santana hasn't been hitting that well this year...

There's just NO WAY Anderson should have been out there for another inning...not against the top of the line-up.
