  1. Oregon State second baseman Nick Madrigal is expected to miss three-to-six weeks with a hairline fracture in his hand.... from back in 2018
  2. Wonder if they'll take a look at someone like Scooter Gennett or Derek Dietrich???
  3. Luis Robert went through a minor league season dealing with it...
  4. Can we bring back Herm Schneider from retirement. Broken left wrist two years ago, the year he was drafted.
  5. How many injuries can the White Sox suffer in the span of one month? That's not even considering Kopech opting out. Anderson, Jimenez ran into wall, Lambert, Rodon, Lopez, now Madrigal. Can't even remember which wrist he seriously hurt at Oregon State that caused him to miss 4-6 weeks his draft season.
  6. Robert's going to have to cut down on that swing and go to RCF. Luis averaging just 3.3 pitches per plate appearance. DAMMIT Madrigal. Really pushed his luck there, great throw by AVI, his best tool...outfield assists. Now Madrigal jammed his left wrist into the ground. Either the arm/wrist, something's painful.
  7. I think it's just that he's usually at 12 MPH difference, and the fastball has been 2-3 MPH down from where he normally is at. Top one so far at 94, but most at 92-93. Probably doesn't even realize he's doing it. Atta boy, Nicky Madrigal, aka Wonderboy.
  8. Jack Parkman is even more worried. He'll be fine. Seems like he does that quite a bit early in games until he gets totally comfortable out on the mound.
  9. Last start, 81/85 pitches fastballs or change-ups. Has really gotten away from the curve and slider. Once he managed to navigate that first inning without a crooked number, the Brewers were really in trouble.
  10. But the key question, did you have the opportunity to meet Pods' wife (or did they get divorced already)? Giolito seems to be hitting the "dead arm" start where he doesn't have his really crisp stuff but has to battle through it...
  11. That slider outpacing Rodon's fastball. Almost at the same velocity as Francisco Liriano threw it at in 2006. Maybe a tick below. Wonder if Balta's going to make a comment about Narvaez's pitch framing skills having improved? Well, Madrigal gets his opportunity to be the leadoff man next inning. Let's see if he can get things kick-started.
  12. Awesome play there by Moncada ranging to his left and making the accurate throw to second...ball gets to the SS, they're only going to get one. You could tell Yoan was ultra-focused on that one.
  13. Put the 4 spot up on the board? Giolito at 92-93 vs. 94-96/97 is a huge difference. Well, that'll work. But can't relax with Avi wanting to go all Count of Monte Christo on Rick Hahn/KW.
  14. Yelich top in majors against RHP'ers throwing changeups last season.
  15. After winning five consecutive, the breaks were due to even out sooner or later.
  16. Brewers' announcers calling out Giolito for his fastball being too straight... How would you like to face Jack Flaherty, Max Fried and Lucas Giolito (Harvard Westlake) as a high school batter...in consecutive games?
  17. LHP José Quintana – Don’t forget, there is a trade deadline coming up on Aug. 31 and this is apparently the year of White Sox pitching reunions with Richard and Gio González, so why rule out Quintana? Given the uncertainty of this season even finishing, I’m not sure I’d want to be trading away a prospect or otherwise valuable piece for an impending free agent, but let’s see how things look in a couple weeks. If the White Sox are a serious contender and need a more dependable starting pitcher, I don’t think you can rule anything out. Quintana wouldn’t cost anywhere near what the White Sox got in return (Eloy Jiménez and Dylan Cease) when they traded him to the Cubs in 2017, so it might be worth exploring. The Cubs’ starting pitching has been plenty good without Quintana (who has been out following thumb surgery) and they need bullpen help, which is something the White Sox could potentially provide. You can call me crazy, but it wouldn’t be the first time I was called crazy for suggesting a crosstown Quintana trade. It worked out the first time. And hey, if none of these options work out, just call up first round pick Garrett Crochet. It’s 2020. Nothing should be ruled out. https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/5-options-help-white-sox-rotation-dane-dunning-jose-quintana The other four were Detwiler, Dane Dunning, Drew Anderson and Clayton RIchard, along with the throw-off comment about Crochet.
  18. Indians going in exact opposite direction as White Sox, getting 1 hit in Cincy and down 2-0 in the 7th. I think, by my count, that would be five consecutive losses, including Bieber taking one individually, who went 6/2 ER and 7 k's. Castellanos with 6 dingers already. Calling Fathom.
  19. A better reference would have been Gallagher, Carrot Top...or Kathy Griffin.
  20. He was sent down to their minor league camp. Still Braves’ property. He likely needs surgery. If he cleared a medical exam, an acquiring team would be looking at fixing him before 2021. But that contract going forward would be a non-zero risk based on his past performance pushing his arbitration numbers up...they would still have to pay him 20% if they cut him in the spring, right? The problem is if they roster him and he’s out for all of 2021 due to surgery/injury, then they would have to pay him roughly $5-7 million to rehab, yes?
  21. They’re still a long ways from moving Jimenez there. Not with Robert to help out, and the logjam of EE, Abreu, Vaughn and Collins...not to mention Sheets, who has now been relegated to trade bait.
  22. Shark only had one season. Danks was the significant contract piece going down that scared JR, apparently. Of course Rodon and Erik Johnson immediately come to mind. Miguel Gonzalez was the other name in that time frame who was relatively reliable, but certainly not a prospect.
  23. Mehhh. The big question is how long Rodon is shut down for...and who replaces him.
  24. What’s crazy is that Bo and Frank played together at Auburn one year (how much fun would that have been to watch?), .722 ops in 1993 with Sox but somehow finished at .851 his final year with Angels the next season. Overall only a 784 ops and 112 ops+. Perhaps most famous for strikeouts and speed getting to first and around the bases in general The plays that I remember most are the homer in the All Star game in Anaheim, climbing the wall almost horizontally to the ground on one play like Superman...and he had one of the strongest throwing arms in the history of the game, just some unreal highlights from near the wall to any base on the field. Bo was raw power. Robert is graceful athleticism and instinctive agility out there.
