  1. https://www.mlb.com/news/eloy-jimenez-set-to-fine-tune-game-in-minors Knew this article was prepared in the offseason...well, at least half of it.
  2. Which Rick asserted this, Hahn or Renteria? The odds of Zavala actually playing 60+ games at catcher on our next playoff team aren’t exactly high.
  3. Greg will be definitely not be interested due to the "sabes" connection. #1 must have been written by the Comiskey or Reinsdorf families or a PR firm to rehabilitate the image of spendthrift ownership.
  4. BaltaPositiveBot is back? it's like the Twilight Zone around here, with all the group thinking that this proposed extension somehow is in the best interest of the White Sox. Stockholm Syndrome? The only plausible explanation is maybe the bot fried or shortcircuited when forced to read 15 names in a single post of mine then then another ten in one of yours?
  5. Are you either his agent or a family member? It seems every signing or trade this year was done with the intention of tampering down fan interest/excitement. If you just put all the FA names into a hat and picked, chances are the results would ten times more satisfying.
  6. Michigan has two in a row and destroyed Iowa and Minnesota...hard to go against them when they’re shooting well and playing defense at that level. Yet they can get smoked by teams like Iowa and Minnesota/PSU on a bad night, lacking one or two superstar scorers to carry the load like a Zion, Morant, Nassir Little, etc.
  7. Sure, but it makes no sense to pay for a Kimbrel when his best two remaining 30+ years will be devoted to a non competitive team. There are way too many holes at more important spots to cover first, and the White Sox have never devoted top dollar to closer recently, other than Koch and Robertson. He makes a lot more sense to teams like the Red Sox, Cubs and Braves with suspect bullpens on a short-term deal. If you’re going to win with a dominant bullpen it needs to be done from internally (cost controlled prospects), not at market FA rates.
  8. Yet we parted (or didn’t fight harder to keep them) with execs like Dan Evans, Kin Ng, Larry Himes, Dombrowski and Ron Schueler. Seems Ron has done quite well away from the Sox... “In 1991, Schueler returned to the White Sox as their general manager. As the general manager, Schueler was responsible for acquiring veterans such as Ellis Burks, Tim Raines, Bo Jackson, Julio Franco, and José Valentín. He was their general manager for ten years, stepping down on October 24, 2000 to become senior vice president of the franchise, a scout, a special consultant to chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, and an adviser to general manager Ken Williams.[1] He worked in this new position through the 2002season. Before the 2003 season, he was hired by the Chicago Cubs as a special assistant to the president and general manager. Two years later, the St. Louis Cardinals hired Schueler to be the special assistant to the general manager. He was part of the 2006 Cardinals organization that won the World Series. In 2008, the San Francisco Giants hired Schueler to be a scout and evaluate major and minor league players and acquisitions.[4] In November 2009, The Washington Nationals hired Schueler as special adviser to GM Mike Rizzo.[5]”
  9. Or the back 3-4 of their bullpen. Zimmer, If healthy, is maybe a 1-1.5 fWAR downgrade from Brantley...but certainly has the potential to outproduce him. CarGo, Martin and Zimmer certainly sounds a lot better than what they looked like two months ago. We can even argue that taking Alonso’s deal off their hands partially contributed to this low-risk signing.
  10. For less than Jay, maybe even McCann...
  11. Current projected lineup (mlb.com) Francisco Lindor, SS Jason Kipnis, 2B Jose Ramirez, 3B Carlos Santana, DH Jake Bauers, 1B CarGo/Tyler Naquin, RF Leonys Martin, CF G.Allen/Jordan Luplow, LF Roberto Pérez, C They also have Joyce, Trayce Thompson, Brandon Barnes...IMO, a healthy Bradley Zimmer is the key, when he comes back, as he’s maybe 2-3 weeks behind everyone else. Then there’s Hanley Ramirez, and his return from the abyss. At any rate, Lindor, Kipnis, Ramirez, Santana, Ramirez/Bauers, CarGo, Martin, Zimmer and Perez isn’t bad at all. And thank god they traded Francisco Mejia or our competitive window might have been blocked in 2020/21 as well. (It did get them their closer in Hand, though.)
  12. Fulmer at least looked much better, despite the two base runners. Stuff looks noticeably crisper, and his delivery is much tighter, more compact. Three K’s are a sign of something to at least build upon. God knows, we need some type of positive redemption story this spring.
  13. There’s evidence enough to be wary...Kingery might not yet be a bust, but he struggled mightily. Everyone knows what happened to Singleton’s career. The probability of that repeating itself isn’t high, but career-challenging injuries aren’t out of the question either at his size (which is why we always went year to year on Crede and Jenks.) It certainly wouldn’t be extracting maximum value by any stretch of the imagination.
  14. Without Paddy and KW, they wouldn’t have had Avi Garcia, Jose Abreu, Luis Robert and Fernando Tatis, Jr. Nearly every FA idea that Hahn has put together has gone dreadfully awry. The “friends and family” plan for Machado will go down Top 5 in modern Sox (disappointment) history unless Manny’s career completely falls apart. To summarize, still not convinced of even one thing that Hahn is personally responsible for...on the positive side of the ledger. Everything is Hostetler’s fault (drafting), strength and conditioning (injuries) or minor league development (Getz/coaching staff)...or JR being cheap or a cutthroat businessman with twin agendas. He sucks at his job. It’s not KW’s fault for “meddling.” The buck stops with the GM. If he has limited authority, have some self-respect and go somewhere else where you can actually sell your vision of fiduciary responsibility and carrying water for ownership.
  15. Makes about as much sense as the most expensive extension (buying out just one year of FA) in the history of the game for a player never to step foot on a big league diamond during the regular season...
  16. Do you think all of the Reinsdorf family would universally agree with your assessment? Maybe If was Sasha Baron Cohen writing the article...
  17. Whitesox27, Felicity Huffman, Lori Loughlin
  18. Maybe Hector Gomez is getting paid a kickback by the front office for attempting to make the Sox look more generous than the really are in actuality...of course, if it’s all a fake plant, it’s going to really piss off Eloy and his agent.
  19. Someone is REALLY crazy about Riley Greene...and not that impressed with Abrams from what I’ve seen. https://www.perfectgame.org/Players/Playerprofile.aspx?ID=438778
  20. He’s almost exactly on a Beckham timeline at this point... https://corvallisknights.com/white-sox-select-knights-alum-nick-madrigal-of-osu-in-first-round-4th-overall-pick/ Madrigal will try to prove his critics right. Oregon State head coach Pat Casey thinks the young infielder could quickly work his way up to the majors. “He'll be in the big leagues in 1 1/2 or 2 years,” Casey said. “I get it, you've got to develop. But put him in a big league uniform, and he can play.” https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/white-sox-talk-podcast-nick-madrigals-college-coach-says-guy-going-be-superstar The definitive podcast that should make everyone a believer.
  21. Well, that and he’s outworked every single young player in the country since he was in middle school, partly due to doubts raised because of his size and having to prove himself against older and bigger players...in basketball, he would be the proverbial gym rat.
