  3. Perhaps the most interesting tidbit, has never started a game...at least since high school. 69 games finished, 31 saves. More or less the “anti-starter,” if there was such a thing. https://www.milb.com/news/foster-realizing-hometown-dream-288411712 Besides his focus and competitive nature, Matt's mother believes his versatility is another strength of his. He played various positions growing up, even winning the Silver Slugger and All-State honors as a third baseman in high school. He originally signed to catch during his college before moving to the mound. After the season, Foster is excited to return to UA (Alabama) as he continues pursuing his degree and training at the Capstone with his ultimate goal of reaching the Major Leagues in sight. For Mrs. Foster, watching Matt take the mound at Regions Field brings back memories of an 8-year-old swinging a bat around and saying he would play in the majors one day. Now, she gets to witness his dreams become reality. She's there every step of the way, reminding him to "stay focused and work hard."
  4. Playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers. 5. The Cardinals have traced one exposure back to Milwaukee and one of the other positive tests weaves back to the concerns coming out of Minneapolis. The Cardinals believe the initial contact that introduced the virus to their clubhouse came in St. Louis before the team's road trip. As a result of this past weekend's outbreak, the Cardinals did enact additional measures of protection that included increased use of masks at the ballpark and clearer guidelines on physical distancing and contact. Many players wore masks on the field when they were doing everything but pitching or hitting, and for the first time all players also wore masks during Zoom interviews with the media. Cardinals manager Mike Shildt said of the team: "We probably won't hardly interact at all." STLtoday.com
  6. No numbers or statistics will be convincing. Neither will election results in November, for 1/4th or even 1/3rd the country. It’s the world we live in now. Debate/discussion is pretty much pointless. Everyone has already chose their respective sides of this argument months if not years ago.
  7. Going with Drew Anderson...
  8. They already said they weren't going to Dunning, Hahn said it earlier this week, yes?
  9. Why would Dunning be the solution to losing Aaron Bummer, one of the five best lefty set-up guys in baseball?
  10. 8-6, only need to go 22-24. 7 against KCR, 10 against Detroit, 4 vs. PITT Let's say 4-3 or 5-2, 7-3 and 3-1. (14-7 or 15-6) 22-13 or 23-12......so simply need to go 8-17 or 7-18 in the other 25 games
  11. Jace Fry, you just became increasingly important again... JESUS, like a M.A.S.H. Unit, and we're barely two weeks into the season.
  12. What happened to him? Just said injury delay in field, but no update.
  13. WHERE DID OUR OFFENSE GO? Third time the Indians shut out in first 15...they just had two consecutive shutouts against the REDS, as well. REBUILD WIN, Cease struggled with his control but managed to avoid the big hit with RISP the entire night, as did the bullpen from front to back end.
  14. Well, an ugly game, but it turned out okay in the end. Abreu not winning himself any new converts tonight, that's for sure.
  15. Well, an ugly game, but it turned out okay in the end. Abreu not winning himself any new fans tonight, that's for sure.
  16. Great. Now Moncada's favoring his ankle or foot. Greg absolutely hates it when the dreaded shift takes the hit away up the middle, haha.
  17. NO FREAKIN' WAY THAT WAS A BALL. Poetic justice, Mendick steals the hit against Hernandez after he was struck out already.
  18. Jamie Moyer SLIDER SPEED BAT. Or Fat-o-lo Colon. Well, that's 0/11 now for Collins. Welcome Thad Bosley, and your 39+ years of Sox support under the Jerry Reinsdorf Regime.
  19. Rifled into CF by Mendick, who's having a very nice week so far.
  20. That was INSIDE....to Leury, it had some comeback tail, but still. Oh, well, fine, faster game as long as it's called that way for both teams. Ton of movement on his pitches...movement >>> VELO.
  21. Indians had scored 19 consecutive runs against CINCY, 23 inning scoreless streak for the pitchers until that first inning run.
  22. Nice pick by the kid down the 1b line....put him in LF!!! Strike 2, he went. Another 0-2 count. Put him away. Just inside, couldn't get the frame. Great play by Yoan, didn't even bother trying to go home, knew he had a slow runner in Leon (probably from his Boston days together with him.)
  23. What did that dude say? Something snarky? First 0-2 count on the night for Cease. Mercado scuffling. Pure filth on the black. NASTY.
  24. Well, there goes the REBUILD. LOL. Joking. I remember back in the day watching Glavine, Avery and Smoltz all struggle their first few seasons in the big leagues. Then everything suddenly clicked, together.
