Moncada would be on a pace for 20 errors if you factor in his DL time... -

The worst part is that was a surefire double play (but can’t assume it when scoring)...totally changed the composition of the inning and put Covey behind the 8 ball. -

Not sure if we are going to get a 2 fWAR at this rate. Madrigal only 3-4 innings from Sox debut. Sigh. Poor Covey. -

Tilson had his run up to a near 700 ops and now settling back to 600ish where he probably belongs... -

White Sox need more moments like that with Benetti to do reach out to LGBTQ fans...he should get a stipend for talking so much about Yolmer. -

The weirdest thing to happen today was Soto hitting his first big league homer in a makeup game, five days before his actual debut. Can’t figure out if that’s #6 or 7, but is sporting a 1000+ ops at the moment in roughly 80 at-bats. The Book is out on Palka...stay away from throwing him fastballs. Davidson has to pick up the 3b coach there. Fundamentals fundamentals fundamentals. -

More bad defense....no way you throw that ball. Moncada, btw, with the obligatory single to stop the bleeding for now. More than was expected against Bauer. Seems Covey is doomed to throw lots of extra pitches in CLE this season. Escaped. Covey now with a sub 1.00 ERA for the month of June. Crazy. -
Ole ole ole...Timmy. Rosenberg probably would have given him the error.

I guess that’s the point then, if politicians no longer have such a thing as a moral compass, then what hope is there? Short of a major world conflict (Trump certainly doesn’t have the ability or desire to unite anyone), the country’s hopelessly divided.
-
The other factor is that of the big three trades, Moncada, Kopech, Giolito and Jimenez were the four centerpieces that were “sold” to fans. When 3/4 are struggling mightily, those casual fans are going to be less aware of Lopez, Dunning, Cease, Basabe...or even Dylan Covey, for that matter. Not to mention the negative association with previous draft picks like Fulmer or even Hawkins getting released and not landing with another MLB team’s minor league organization. It would essentially be the Sox equivalent of Bryant, Baez, Russell/Schwarber all going south at the same time.

But that still doesn’t address the current situation, whether you blame Bush or Obama, there’s no way that the majority of lifelong “Colin Powell/compassionate conservatives” can feel comfortable with a policy that’s deliberately hurting infants and children in order to pander to not the better angels of our natures but the basest/most divisive ones. I don’t know how any Christian Republicans could support this either...unless they simply choose to throw out the entire New Testament in their reading of the Bible.

A number of my Cardinals friends predicted it...an almost legitimate offer making fans believe they really wanted him back, but not quite attractive enough and ultimate he’s the greedy one because they (Cards’ fans) know investing that much payroll into a Price or Heyward is pretty darned risky (for mid-market organizations), despite their huge attendance windfalls.

You mean April 23rd, not even two months ago....

The caseload is straining a facility he described as understaffed and unequipped to deal with children experiencing trauma, such as the three Brazilians. During his time at the shelter, children were running away, screaming, throwing furniture and attempting suicide, Davidson said. Several were being monitored this week because they were at risk of running away, self-harm and suicide, records show. Key paragraph in the LA Times reporting...

he might not make it in Rafael Palmeiro's softball league...

https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/15/trump-dictators-authoritarians-strongmen-649635 "donald dreams dictators" simply one of the best, and most frightening, reads of the entire year...
-
we couldn't compete this year with the ghost of Joe McCarthy or Al Lopez but at least we would look like a professional operation
-
greg will surely like this (overly) optimistic post??
-
maddon simply can get away with it because sheer talent trumps managerial stupidity 90% of the time....otoh this sox team has zero margin for error with a bottom of the order rivaling the Royce Clayton/Mark Johnson years
-
and who can save the game anyway if you keep burning out the pen?...go for the big inning at home, because it's obviously not like we are in a pennant race and have to follow the old play for a tie in that situation maxim.
-
there was just no reason to burn through Rondon and avilan so quickly, especially if frye was unavailable...and they still ended up having to use Minaya against v.martinez as a lhb even though he made it into a life or death situation in the top of the 7th.
-
The last time any Sox manager had some legit pressure on them...Sept 2012 and May 2016, just two months since the 2010 season.
-
we are trying to lure the tigers back into the al central race so they can foolishly trade some of their prospects? brilliant stuff, Hahn and Tricky Ricky.
-
definitely had no use for Palka and Davidson there....none at all

Moncada ops has disintegrated to 702 now
