  3. https://theintercept.com/2017/04/19/a-sande...rov-speaks-out/ A Bernie Sanders campaign advisor was Russian! Uranium One. Benghazi. E-mails. Lock her up!! The Russians allegedly paid one American in Florida to dress up as Hillary Clinton in a prison uniform and hired another to build a cage to "imprison" the Clinton impersonator at a Florida rally. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/02/16/t...tigation-415667 Loretta Lynch meeting Clinton on the tarmac. FBI Deep State. Russians benefitting from Keystone/Dakota pipeline deals. Oops, wrong conspiracy theory. Hard to keep them all straight. Ben Shapiro is selling Trump condos in New Delhi with Donald Jr. and Modi while the Indian government snubs Trudeau!! Chaos ensues!!!
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 11:00 PM) I'd normally agree, but given how bad our starters project to be overall, I think we'll need the extra arms. Especially early in the season, pre-Kopech They’ll need the pen even more with Kopech and Hansen...to protect them as much as possible.
  5. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 08:39 PM) I think they might go with a different Cf then leury not sure who but this was tweeted earlier. Renteria spoke of Leury Garcia as more utility guy than regular CF. "We’re going to give him an opportunity to be moved around a lot and keep him as valuable as we possibly can at any position we have." https://twitter.com/CST_soxvan/status/965698037375840256 Then they will end up the same way they did last year with May on the roster. Unless Engel or Tilson or Cordell can hold down the position, it reverts to Leury by default.

  7. Fat, unhealthy Americans threaten Trump’s defense surge Rising obesity numbers, drug use, criminal backgrounds and other problems mean most people at prime military recruiting age are ineligible to serve. Nearly three-quarters of Americans age 17 to 24 are ineligible for the military due to obesity, other health problems, criminal backgrounds or lack of education, according to government data. That's a harsh reality check for the Pentagon’s plan to recruit tens of thousands of new soldiers, sailors, pilots and cyber specialists over the next five years. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/02/19/p...shortage-351365

Nobody has mentioned Willy Garcia, btw. Vieira? (Avilan) If they think Cordell or Engel or Tilson could be everyday players, they should be playing everyday in Charlotte.
  9. JDM, $50 million first two years...opt out possibility, $20 million per year x 3 final years of deal
  10. QUOTE (ron883 @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 03:21 PM) The Sox would be nuts to give yolmer the job over yoan. Yoan has one of the highest ceilings in the entire majors. He proved himself last season. The dude is the future of the sox. Don't see any issue with this. QUOTE (Spartans Rock @ Feb 19, 2018 -> 04:06 AM) Yoan is in the futue of the Sox, However, Jiminez is the really big piece. If they both reach their potential, Moncada and Robert will put up even bigger WAR numbers due to athleticism and defensive ability. You could even say the same about Tatis, Jr.
  11. QUOTE (raBBit @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 01:03 PM) https://twitter.com/ap/status/964675496360456192 AP finally retracts fake news story. So when someone deliberately lies to the media, what is their burden or responsibility in terms of reporting it? Shouldn’t the news media also boycott Huckabee Sanders press conferences or ban Kellyanne Conway from appearing on tv? What’s the difference between all these various lies? One is spin, the other is to intentionally cast blame or aspersions in a specific direction to create chaos or division?
  12. https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-spent-sund...-072452586.html Trump dares Oprah to run for President on Twitter Since there are 10-15 unique Trump-related events per day...surely we don’t need individual threads about all of them, do we?
  13. What’s more likely? Dickerson nets a valuable piece back (and major league ready, to boot?)...or Cordell/Tilson/Delmonico/Davidson/Leury Garcia/Engel are capable of putting up a 2.5+ war over an entire season? Which has more value to the franchise? Can Leury get you back more than Dickerson with three solid months? I would play Yolmer at third and Leury in CF (Cordell/Tilson to AAA)...but Hahn will probably go Davidson/Engel. We have so many ?’s with so many players to answer! That’s not even considering Saladino.
  14. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 10:07 AM) Seriously caulfield what the f*** does this have to do with Donald Trump? This is olympics nonsense Trump tweets all morning long and this is what you add It has everything to do with Trump and his supporters...and their social media bullying/harassment.
  15. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Feb 18, 2018 -> 12:46 PM) I don't know if that's your assessment or the article's, but I have to disagree with the point that they "glossed over" those things. Spoilers below:
  16. https://www.nationalreview.com/2018/02/blac...d-race-fantasy/ http://time.com/black-panther/ Counterpoint Having now watched the movie, it‘s impossible to discuss it purely from a cinematic perspective. For all the positive images and hopefulness, there's the fact that it’s glossing over a lot of the real world problems like gangs, access to quality education/digital divide, drugs, cyclical poverty, single parent upbringing, unemployment, etc. Of course, super hero movies are made to help us escape reality...to uplift, entertain and inspire. In that sense, it largely succeeds. While ultimately an action-adventure, Black Panther also serves as an intelligent if broad debate between revolutionary rhetoric and the responsibilities of leadership. That said, it’s also the first movie with basically an all-black cast made for mainstream America since Roots, and that is progress in and of itself. And surely a good number of viewers will enjoy rooting for Michael B. Jordan (and his perspective, not unlike Malcolm X pre-1965) to win. That’s kind of cool, too.

  19. Shapiro didn’t resign from Breitbart, despite ample evidence of its monstrous racism, until the victim of Breitbart’s thuggishness was a white female colleague in peril. And while Shapiro is no Milo, he has also said some vile things. There was, for instance, an October interview with ABC’s Nightline, in which Shapiro said transgender people suffer from “mental illness.” Or this 2010 tweet in support of Israeli settlements: “Israelis like to build. Arabs like to bomb crap and live in open sewage. This is not a difficult issue.” #settlementsrock On Oct. 9, 2017, known as either Columbus Day or Indigenous Peoples Day depending on which way you swing, the Daily Wire posted an animated video mocking the Native Americans who Christopher Columbus encountered when he landed in the West. The video portrayed Native Americans as savage cannibals and then displayed a ledger comparing their putative contributions to the culture of the Western Hemisphere with those of post-Columbus Europeans. The Native American column listed only three contributions: “dreamcatchers,” “tomahawks,” and “cannibalism.” On the Western culture side of the ledger were contributions such as “science,” “underwear,” and “not-scalping.” https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2018/01...n-count-on.html
  20. "I hate jews, ni**ers, immigrants" Racism was a constant theme in the chat group, which was called "Murica (American flag emoji) (eagle emoji) great" -- a name it was given by Cruz. The hatred he and others in the group espoused met little resistance from its active members. In one part of the group chat, Cruz wrote that he hated, "jews, ni**ers, immigrants." He talked about killing Mexicans, keeping black people in chains and cutting their necks. The statements were not made in jest. There are hundreds of racist messages, racist memes and racist Instagram videos posted in the group. One member even joked about Cruz's particular venomousness, saying that although he hated black people, too, he didn't "to a point I wanna kill the (sic) like nick." Cruz said he hated black people simply because they were black; Cruz hated Jews because he believed they wanted to destroy the world. After one member expressed hatred for gay people, Cruz agreed, saying, "Shoot them in the back of head." White women drew Cruz's hatred as well, specifically those in interracial relationships, whom he referred to repeatedly as traitors. There are no indications in the group chat that any member, including Cruz, is or was part of a white nationalist or white supremacist group. https://www.cnn.com/2018/02/16/us/exclusive...roup/index.html
  21. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Feb 15, 2018 -> 03:24 AM) I just got back from seeing Black Panther... It’s pretty hard for me to watch movies like an average person, it’s takes me two or sometimes three viewings of a movie to really enjoy myself and not think about why or how they did this or that. The entire lead up to this movie has been pretty emotional because, I wish that I was 20 years younger and 5 years old again to experience this moment. As a black kid, who grew up obsessed with nerd culture all of my favorite characters were 97% white men. I was able to latch on to the ideas that they represented but they still felt unattainable because of my skin color. I can only imagine how empowered and inspired black kids are going to feel watching this movie and seeing an African King at the center of a superhero movie. There are no words that can do justice to the impact that this could have on the entire community. Instead of seeing themselves portrayed in the media as thugs, unintelligent and lesser they’re going to be seeing themselves as royalty, geniuses and as equals who are deserving of as much respect and opportunity their white counter parts get. I loved how the movie was at times structured as a conversation with the audience as it talked about a lot of issues facing black people today. Kids can hear these messages about lifting each other up from another black person and really take it with them. I really enjoyed the movie and I won’t go into specifics about what I liked and didn’t but everything happening around it makes me wish I’m 5 years old again, just so can this all in and take it with into adulthood. I can even picture my mom driving me to Tower Records to pick up the soundtrack, what a time to be alive. https://medium.com/new-york-times-magazine/...ca-14ad4e63e9ee On Why Black Panther is a Defining Moment for Black America
  22. But Trump and Ryan told the American people the tax cuts would pay for themselves!!! Since Sandy Hook, a gun has been fired on school grounds nearly once a week (430 total deaths) By PRIYA KRISHNAKUMAR UPDATED FEB. 14, 2017 There have been more than 290 shootings on school campuses in the U.S. since 20 children and six adults were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary school in Newtown, Conn. on Dec. 14, 2012 according to Everytown For Gun Safety, an advocacy group.
