  1. By fWAR, pitchers who might be on the market: Archer Vargas Samardzija I.Nova Estrada Straily Duffy (DL) C.Richard (what?) 29. Darvish 33. Quintana Fip XFip 4.36/4.40 44. Jaime Garcia
  2. Changes in Cuba policy could adversely impact Trump's hotel competitors (such as the Sheraton) http://www.cnn.com/2017/06/16/politics/don...tors/index.html
  3. QUOTE (New Era on South Side @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 10:39 PM) I haven't thought it all the way through, but basically if brick and mortar stores are closing and people aren't flocking to create retail businesses, why not provide incentives to have startups and entrepreneurs take those empty retail locations? It's just a thought, even though Illinois is in the financial state it is in. In other words, make Downers Grove a place for startups like San Francisco and Chicago. So basically tech incubator/s, maker's space....whatever you prefer to term it?
  4. 22. AZ 23,477 23. Minn 23,078 24. Pitt 23,012 25. Cincy 22,451 26. Cleveland 22,030 27. CHW 21,019 28. Miami 20,456 29. Oakland 17,573 30. TB 14,408 With the Buehrle retirement game next Sat and Mon-Thurs home series against the Yankees, they will be doing just fine for 33 games, especially compared to some of the most dire and cataclysmic predictions. Then another weekend series with the Rangers. 2016 average=21,828 (26) 2015 average=21,947 (26) 2014 average=20,896 (28) 2013 average=22,105 (24) 2012 average =24,271 (24) I will conservatively estimate they average 25,000 for those next ten home games, 22,125 would be the new season average....with the following home games remaining. SEA (3) weekend LAD (2) Cubs (2) Cleve (3) Toronto, Houston, KC Minnesota, Detroit TB, Cleve San Francisco, Royals, LAA 44 Games
  5. Wade Davis is the same way...much better with 1 run lead than 2-4. Yankees' pen has gotten roughed up two nights in a row in Oakland. Judge, triple and 23rd homer. Ho hum.
  6. http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...83&sid=milb Bonus Kyle Tucker homer That Moncada ball flew out like a Judge homer...836 ops http://www.milb.com/multimedia/vpp.jsp?con...83&sid=t494 Minor league roundup including Hansen and Devers homer... https://www.milb.com/milb/news/prospect-rou...236/t-185364810 White Sox RHP Alec Hansen, Class A Kannapolis: 6 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 1 BB, 10 K, 86 pitches, 61 strikes -- Hansen has been a strikeout fiend in his first full season, so let this performance lock in that reputation. Thursday marked the third time in his last five starts that the No. 10 White Sox prospect has reached double digits in K's. He now has 92 strikeouts in 72 2/3 innings, good for third in the Minors this season behind Wilmer Font (102) and Puk (98). Beyond just punchouts, his other numbers (2.48 ERA, 2.62 FIP, 7.6 percent walk rate, .204 average-against) are also strong. The White Sox sent their 2016 second-rounder to the South Atlantic League after control issues caused his stock to drop at the University of Oklahoma last spring, but he's shown few issues at Class A through the first half. A move to Class A Advanced Winston-Salem should come not long after next Tuesday's Sally League All-Star Game.
  7. You still have Beck, Petricka, Ynoa, Jennings, Nate Jones, Burdi, Fulmer...or Lopez, Danish, etc. That's if they trade Robertson, Swarzak and Kahnle.
  8. Moncada boo-yah, homer number 8. Against veteran LHP Antonio Bastardo, banished from Pirates...
  9. Tied with Mets for 8th. Dreaded Benintendi vs. Fulmer position.
  10. Get rid of Infante, por favor. Pirates will be 1/2 game ahead of Sox in draft pick battle.
  11. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 08:06 PM) Nicasio was god awful tonight. Pirates have no closer Rivero throws 101 from the LH side...he has to be next.
  12. Yep. Are the Pirates looking to trade Nicasio? He and Rivero are impressive...jinxed him.
  13. Giolito struggling in 5th, pitch count way too high with 90+. Kind of a laborious outing....3 runs in 4 1/3. Pull Giolito, hope the pen can bail him out here with two outs...another walk. Over 100 pitches. Purke saves him.
  14. Nats going to have to use pen in 9th with 4-1 lead...Scherzer will be nervous. They can't let him throw 125-130. Q saves his own life, 5.07 era, down from 5.30 to start game.
  15. Umm...Timmy, you need to be on third there. Omar with the rare offensive explosion.
  16. Daniel Hudson against Cubs, now protecting 4-3 lead thanks to Josh Bell's 12th dinger... What's the latest update on Leury Garcia's hand??
  17. QUOTE (mac9001 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 07:11 PM) Giolito hitting 94-95 on the Charlotte gun. The fastball does seem to have a bit more pop today and with the exception of a couple at bats he's commanding it well. James Shields fixed him. And more confidence again.
  18. Hanson in only his second professional game in CF. Great hustle there, at least...could have reached third. And the Q that drives everyone crazy this year shows up again.
  19. League needs to force Butler and George to the Celtics to make next season watchable, "fix" the Clippers and Lakers as well, lol...or the Knicks.
  20. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jun 16, 2017 -> 06:41 PM) Zavala with his 12th HR. Nearing 800 ops... Asche 1.082 ops in 70+ at bats. AAAA guy. Like Kevan Smith.
  21. CHW just 5 back, KC 2 1/2 (potentially) after tonight. Greg's going to go crazy...not to mention the unbalanced schedule we've been fighting against for 2 1/2 months.
  22. Cabrera shaving off .1 or .15 from Q's ERA... Btw, amazing Grilli is still around. White Sox sort of saved his career back before the 2005 team was a glimmer in Ozzie's eye.
  23. I don't see Banister and the Rangers doing a White Flag trade with them at .500, as long as they're right in the thick of the wild card race. Same reason Royals will wait until last second to decide on Vargas, Herrera, Hosmer, Moustakas and Cain. That's a lot of talent to ride the season out, but MN and CLE are keeping them in it. Cole Hamels and Gerrit Cole, two more big names, fwiw. McCutcheon more likely to go there.
