  1. QUOTE (Lillian @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 06:23 PM) Can any of you recall a collegiate player with a strike out rate comparable to Kendall's, who became an outstanding Major League hitter? http://www.hardballtimes.com/how-many-stri...ts-is-too-many/
  2. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 09:33 AM) Trump's UK visit postponed indefinitely as he can't handle protestors being mean to him. Maybe once they jail all dissent like Saudi Arabia, he'll feel comfortable enough to go. http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-40241220 No change to state visit plans, according to 10 Downing
  3. Trump administration takes a 'drastic' step to stop youth climate lawsuit https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-administra...-180943362.html
  4. Moustakas just hit his 16th homer, fwiw. That said, Frazier will have a significantly lower asking price...who else needs a 3B right now? Either one of those guys would fit well in Boston. Sandoval only at 616 ops. Obviously Todd can DH and play 1b as well.
  5. Kopech much better only 11 pitches to get through third...pitch count will still limit his innings to just 5-6 today. Especially with the high duress 1st and 2nd innings. Hope he gets a faster hook than Grudzielanek showed with Giolito yesterday.
  6. Russell and Schwarber go back to back. The two players struggling most, and everyone has heard about Russell's off-field issues.
  7. Kopech with four walks and 3 k's, not even out of the second yet. No runs allowed, though. 50 pitches. 2.83 era. Trey M. and Barnum back. Barons' lineup probably the worst in AA.
  8. Judge with two more homers (21), SANCHEZ with ten despite missing half the season....Jesus. Woeful bench right now...Anderson had his fastballs to hit from Allen, just couldn't square one up. Draft fever!!!
  9. Paulino just got shredded by the Angels' pretty woeful offense... Tillman and Gausman the last two games in a row for Baltimore against Murderer's Row.
  10. Arrieta can forget that long term contract extension...
  11. Surprised Lindor didn't kill us yesterday. Fortunate to get 1/3. Sloppiest run of games all year long. Playing so many road games will probably be the excuse. Team is just drifting and lacking in focus like the worst periods of malaise attributable to the Ventura years. Yes, talent's way short, but that still doesn't excuse this current level of sloppiness.
  12. They should acquire Billy Hamilton for the next two seasons when the Reds throw in the towel just to serve as a role model. No Cabrera, no Abreu will definitely help....except then you're still stuck with Avi and Jose, both can't DH. Guess you leave Avi in place, try to fix Anderson and also find a veteran who knows what he's doing while waiting for Collins. You finally have to figure out whether Leury can clean up his bad habits defensively, as well. Frustrating how well guys like Avila and Austin Jackson are playing this year.
  13. Cabrera no longer taking the time to back up bases like he did earlier in the year...7th error by Avi on the year. That's just way too many for an outfielder. Mostly just being over aggressive, but those instincts need to be tamped down.
  14. They're walking back those comments about the Senate likely passing this thing around the second week of July. http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/04/opinions/hea...nion/index.html "Medicare for All" becomes the defining opportunity for Dems in 2018/20.
  15. More bad defense...certainly not cured by Renteria. Same with the baserunning.
  16. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 01:29 PM) If the alternatives are Kendall or Bukauskas, the White Sox should pick Hiura. The defensive stuff is overblown because no one has seem him play defense in over a year. An unknown is better than a known negative, like Kendall's K rate or Bukauskas's mechanics. Except if the White Sox are dead set on Moncada playing second...where does he still have a "plus" bat in the line-up? LF? DH? 1B?

    DC Films

QUOTE (Sox-35th @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) The thing about these DC headliners is they really only have a handful of parallels in the Marvel Universe. Disney wisely made good movies with strong characters to up the popularity of well know if not household characters. The positive side of this is that the tier 1 DC characters will draw regardless of the quality of the film. The negative side is everyone knows Batman, Superman's story. The key for DC will be to get the most out of the Tier 1A characters. Wonder Woman is a runaway success. Which leaves Aquaman (a tough sell without getting too political), Cyborg (Don't know a lot about him, honestly) and the Flash (a character similar to Quicksilver, who was killed off in the Marvel Universe). Of those three, Cyborg and the Flash will have to lighten the tone of this universe in order to be successful. They also messed up Green Lantern. With an estimated $57 million, Warner Bros. and DC Comics' release of Wonder Woman finished atop the weekend box office for a second week in a row as its domestic cume now totals more than $205 million after just ten days in release. The performance signals a 45% drop compared to the film's massive $103 million debut last weekend. Just to put that drop in perspective, recent DC Films saw significantly larger second weekend dips as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice fell 69% in its second weekend, Suicide Squad dropped 67% and Man of Steel dipped 65%. boxofficemojo.com
  18. Frazier, have yourself a game, son. Talk about stats normalizing in a hurry. Pretty fortunate with those last two slides into second by Avi and Todd.
  19. Rodon got hit hard again...this time pitching for Charlotte.
  20. http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/1227398...ba-best-defense Interesting article from two years ago....how the Warriors built the NBA's top defense. (Obviously, Bogut and Justin Holiday are both long gone.)
  21. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 10:43 PM) Sox attendance has been going down every season from the previous one since the end of the 2006 season, except for two years if I remember correctly. Shouldn't be a surprise given the state of the team on the field for the past decade. Also I thought I read somewhere about the parking and that what is charged is not the decision of the Sox nor do they get a share of the parking money generated. I could be wrong about that, perhaps someone can clarify. http://www.chicagobusiness.com/article/201...-deal-with-uber From everything I've ever read, the Sox set the parking rates and get 100% of the revenues.

  23. QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 10, 2017 -> 10:47 PM) Mark Gonzales told me the story when the Sox were in Cleveland and instead of watching pregame video on that night's starting pitcher, Anderson and another guy were watching cartoons. Let's just say the other guys on the team noticed. What did he do to inspire two bombs off Felix Hernandez in one game?
  24. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 11, 2017 -> 12:26 AM) I haven't listened yet, but it already sounds incredibly. Glad you got the interview and can't wait to listen. Brian was always one of my favorite players, and his contributions to that 2008 team were incredible, if understated. I strongly disagree. Maybe compared to Avi, Beckham and Viciedo....but Borchard and Josh Fields might disagree.
