  1. Robert popped out on the infield and walked so far.... Kanny down 4-1 early. Frost with inside the park homer, #9.
  2. Only commonality with Garland is the idea of both as sinker pitchers...but Covey relies a lot more on the slider and pitching up in the zone with more movement and higher velocity.
  3. The only realistic choice was Devers over Moncada...by that point in time. But not both.
  4. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/02/white-sox-outright-dylan-covey.html Funny thing is every team in baseball had a shot at him when we removed him from the 40 man roster prior to Spring Training on February 18...nobody saw this coming out of him. While Covey did keep the ball on the ground at a respectable clip (48.5 percent), the fly balls he allowed tended to lead to disaster. In fact, he surrendered 2.57 home runs per nine – the worst mark on the team and the third-worst figure in the majors among those who amassed at least 70 frames.
  5. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/06/13/sanders-harris-nicholas-bukoski-indicted-643894 Man threatened to kill Senators Harris and Sanders....
  6. Or penalties for not spending a minimum amount on MLB payroll and minor league operations/scouting/development.
  7. Well, there are a lot number of Americans who didn’t even know the difference between North and South Korea until recently...

  9. See the Indians. They made some pretty bad trades over the years when they were rebuilding (2001-2002 and after 2007), but the majority of talent was signed out of Latin America or drafted/developed, with a few exceptions (such as Carlos Carrasco as part of the Cliff Lee to Philly deal). I'd really attribute 90% of it to Antonetti's "savvy."
  10. Humber never had the type of stuff/movement that Covey's showcasing right now....he got by mostly by guile and finesse, and was almost always in the low 90's and upper 80's. Nobody's going to value him as "the next Jose Quintana" until he has at least a 2 year track record of excellence. Kluber, for example (as mentioned), or Charlie Morton (although he's quite a bit older) would be examples of pitchers that suddenly elevated themselves from journeyman/pedestrian status into the upper echelon of the starting pitchers. Dallas Keuchel would be yet another. He's (now) arguably worth more than Avi Garcia was in the midst of his supposed breakout season last year, but the upside of trading him for prospects is far outweighed by the need for a pitcher like that for the 3-4-5 spots in the rotation (and maybe even 2, if he can sustain this over a couple more months.)
  11. Mr. Hahn, I will have to seriously consider renouncing my Sox fanship/fandom if you do take up Mr. Hot FiRe's "generous" offer...
  12. Not the greatest location for that slider, but Cabrera was sitting FB. ERA now all the way down to 2.12, wow. He might need one more pitch (change) to go with the FB/SL combo, but he has been very impressive since his last start in AAA before the recall. And there it is, K on a change-up. Just has to utilize it enough to keep hitters off balance.
  13. One of the few exceptions was when he pushed an inside pitch at the 2B to advance a runner to 3rd a week ago...that stands out in my memory.
  14. As long as he can sustain that type of movement AND 93-96 MPH velocity for 5-7 innings, he's MUCH more valuable as a starting pitcher...
  15. Best fastball from Covey that first inning was 95.4 MPH. Moncada and Anderson have matching 722 OPS lines now.
  16. he's in cahoots with the CIA. How is that any different from defense contractors from World War II onward? Cahoots implies some type of nefarious dealings or a conspiracy or something like bribery/corruption....
  17. Sourcing, about last allegation/insinuation? For decades, big multinationals were always in cahoots with the military/industrial complex...but on the conservative side of the political spectrum. Starbucks is part of it as well?
  18. https://www.barstoolsports.com/boston/yoan-moncadas-offseason-workouts-seem-to-be-going-well/ Look how bulked up Moncada was in the upper body/arms when he was with Boston...November 22nd, 2015 (20 years old)
  19. Vlad the Impaler’s son, too. Soto, we’ll see. Seager.
  20. https://www.fangraphs.com/statss.aspx?playerid=10155&position=OF Trout peaked in 2012-13 when he turned 21 and 22 at midseason those years. Of course, he’s currently on pace at age 26/27 to obliterate those numbers.
  21. Well, he did strike out in 2 of 3 at-bats following the homer...actually, he and Tim with nearly identical OPS, 725 vs. 722.
  22. You got Booger Presley on the bass guitar...and a rap by me, ole lil Lamar
  23. Nope, Booger Presley...
  24. Maine GOP candidate for governor... Election nights are long -- no matter what. But asking voters multiple questions on each race further drags things out. So far, CNN has been unable to project a winner in the Maine House District or either the Democrat or Republican primary for Maine governor. While you wait, though, check out this is saucy video of one of Sen. Angus King's opponents, who ran unopposed for the Republican nomination, has online. He's a long shot. source: cnn.com
