Not yet, that one and 45 Years are on my list still. Not a Keitel fan but will definitely check it out. I won't call it a masterpiece, but it's quite good. Michael Caine at his crusty old curmudgeonly best...and an unforgettable scene with Madalina Ghenea from Romania as Miss Universe that comes from out of nowhere. It was definitely a sentimental but unflinching look at the past, regret, and the vicissitudes of youth as time takes on a different meaning for those nearer the end than middle age.

He played fairly well against Oklahoma as well. Alamo Bowls for some reason are usually fun...not unlike the old Holiday Bowls. Plus, San Antonio's a great city to visit for the first time (Riverwalk).

The Danish Girl...Eddie Redmayne definitely deserves a Best Actor nomination here. Can't say it's a great film overall, but a very typical Tom Hooper effort. Ostensibly, a straightforward bio film about a woman trapped in a man's body who eventally got the first sex change operation...with all the societal pressures that went against that in the 1920's. Next, I still think the IMAX film back then was better, but Everest was strong. Having been to the foot of the mountain in early October...just can't imagine how cold and windy it is, and that was well below base camp. The wind just takes your breath away. I was ready to go back after sleeping in a tent just one night with about five blankets. The most beautiful view of the stars at night you can imagine. Jason Clarke was his usual workman-like self as Rob Hall...whose conflicts over commercial interest because of his outdoor adventures business ($65,000 per climber) and the Krakauer coverage pushed him back up the mountain and probably cost 3 if not 4 more lives in the process...including his own. Would like to see Clarke in a different sort of role for a change.

Iowa was down 18-37 at Purdue near halftime and now has been leading by 6-7 points down the stretch largely due to a willowy walk-on freshman named Nicholas Baer. By posting this, no Hawkeye bb jinx of blowing games at the end. It's eviscerated, lol. Uthoff was shaky down the stretch shooting free throws but what a player...Jok and Gesell were off but still won, mostly due to Uhl and Baer picking up the slack. Crazy college bb world when you blow a 20 point lead and 6 with 1:08 to go AT Iowa State and then beat the #1 team handily at home and come back from 19 down (37-20 at halftime) to roll a strong Purdue team at home. Takes a bit of the sting out of the Rose debacle. @marcmorehouse @marcmorehouse it isn't like Cal. Isn't an agri state either. Cal has $55 billion in agri income - Iowa has $35 billion But which state has more cows per capita??

If Iowa was winning or competitive in that game, it would have been funny. Farms for "middle class" people don't exist so much any more...they've all pretty much become huge conglomerates run by companies like ConAgra. If you went back 30 years ago, when the stickers first appeared, and we had Farm Aid, that was a different time when Stanford band members would have had their teeth kicked in because you would have been talking more about economics and social class. I grew up in Bettendorf and never knew a single farmer. A purely suburban lifestyle. The only way farms affected us was the closing of some barns and selling of land where we used to attend parties just outside the city limits.

I'm having a hard time believing Brian will pick Star Wars because of his film critic side... There should be a category for most entertaining and you could put Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Mission Impossible, The Martian, Mad Max and Sicario there. It's hard to compare Spotlight, Room, Carol, The Big Short or Brooklyn to those honestly. Totally different genres. Maybe I'll change my mind after watching in a theatre with 3D and surround sound, but I just feel Star Wars relied too much on trotting out familiar themes and characters...and the whole dynamic with Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford was just off, that Daisy Ridley evolved too quickly and the whole second death star scenario was forced. All that said, it was great in evoking memories and a faithful and modernized recreation of those first three movies everyone loves so much. Even the music and familiar scroll at the beginning.

The Orioles have already added Kim and Trumbo. They also have Flaherty as 1b/DH/RF option. They could go Reimold, Jones, Trumbo/Flaherty, but they are like the White Sox...desperately in need of a better defender in right. Unless they believe Kim is a legit starter at a corner or DH, they're going to need one more bat to survive in that division. As to Omar's point, sure...2018 might not develop as expected in terms of FAs. That said, agents like Kazmir's have to calculate their client's age and make some projections about what the future markets will look like using all of the info available...and that next year's is a terrible one from the talent acquisition standpoint and post 2017 is just fair/decent.

Announcing an official intended budget would kind of be counterproductive...we can do it fairly closely looking at attendance, projected season ticket sales, profit/loss in the prior year and following all the Forbes numbers cumulatively.

The problem is the White Sox would be $30-35 million over their supposed budget this year...that big a jump would be unprecedented without following playoffs or competitive seasons. Next year, less of an issue. Essentially it's deliberately spending into a loss for at least one year or more if it backfires..for a payoff more likely in 2017 and 18.
