  1. Swihart, Devers, Margot and Owens....throw in Jackie Bradley, Jr.
  2. QUOTE (fathom @ May 3, 2015 -> 01:05 PM) Hey, it's awesome we played for one run last inning One run lead so likely to stand up with Danks on the mound.
  3. Play LaRoche at first....Danks is late because he was breaking home assuming he needed to cover because he was used to Abreu not catching it.
  4. http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/12811...hot-locker-room PacMan fought with injured shoulder, pain killer shot denied.
  5. QUOTE (Heads22 @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:16 PM) It feels like we have hit into at least 700 double plays. 702
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:06 PM) Will always wonder what his career would have been like without that leg injury. Yep, he was off to such a promising start.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:09 PM) Wht is the purpose of this post other than to troll? Find another bangwagon to jump on. Find someone else to gouge with your $300 giveaway rings. Thanks, ayn rand
  8. Even DJ readily admits that the play is "sloppy" in all aspects other than the bullpen. Says the White Sox need to back it down and be less aggressive. Meanwhile, the once slow Tigers already have 24-25 stolen bases as part of an effort to get more athletic and better defensively....having added Cespedes, Gose, Rajai Davis, JD Martinez, Kinsler, Iglesias, etc.
  9. Doubt Ventura will say a thing about it. He probably hasnt even heard of Bryan Price.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2015 -> 11:25 AM) Woh this is for your Homer Bailey idea, where even the trainer said you were wrong. In an effort not to pay John Danks, you would rather pay Homer Bailey to rehab and then after 2 elbow surgeries and 3 partial seasons, be on the hook to him , a guy who has only posted a WAR above 2.7 once in his career, $63 million for 3 seasons. They probably won't even let you GM a fantasy league. It would be stealimg your money. You're right, because the $28 million in savings I created for Hahn In 2015 and 2016 would just wasted on Melky, LaRoche and Bonifacio buyouts. Oh, and paying Ventura not to manage as well. Greg should be GM and you can be his pitching coach. That would create some cost savings.
  11. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2015 -> 09:28 AM) What is the relevance? The same relevance as Gavin Floyd is the new poster child for why TJ surgery is ineffective. Actually, your provided example is much less relevant, because Harvey has more in common with Hoffman, Fedde, Giolito, Matuella, etc., since those pitchers are all quite young and havent had their arms (initially) put back together with screws and bolts.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ May 3, 2015 -> 08:49 AM) Caulfield nobody is going to take your opinion seriously if you actually thought Manny won that fight. Listen, I grew up with Hagler, Hearns, Macho Camacho, Sugar Ray Leonard. From a technical standpoint, sure. But back in the day, boxers could also fight and vice-versa. They had the ability to do both, and also put on a show for fans who paid good money. Same with Mike Tyson in his prime. In alll honesty, I didnt watch the last six rounds closely because they were so boring. I was taking care of my baby, writing about the Sox game, listening to the Rangers game in extras....perhaps I was rooting more with heart than a rational technical side because I have many friends from the Philippines. Fine...after watching them on replay, i can admit Mayweather's strategy workeed perfectly, he frustrated Manny and wore him down, landed more punches, kept him at bay with his jabs and reach advantage, blah blah blah. I still think it was a lot closer than the judges scored it....and it was terribly disappointing as well. For someone who hasnt watched a full match in a decade, it made me never want to watch again if thats the payoff. Id prefer marquez pacman five but one of tthem would end up dead.
  13. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:50 AM) I'd settle for a salary dump with La Roche, wouldn't you? If he's not off the books, how can the Sox pursue someone to take his place, for next year? Welcome to Dan Black/Miguel Montero as your DH. Since Wilkins and Viciedo are already gone.
  14. QUOTE (buckweaver @ May 2, 2015 -> 10:19 AM) No one said likely. If you prefer to complain ad infinitum...it's your right. But it's May 2 and the team is four games under. A little frustrating, but it doesn't make me want to chuck the season. And for what it's worth, the sarcasm and negativity toward other posters is why more people don't post more often. It's very simple then. We have the same HOF manager that got us to the playoffs in 1983 and I'll be perfectly content to let the season play out and not feel another year of healthy Sale and Abreu was wasted "doing the right thing" by our manager. If JR wants to run this franchise into the ground out of misguided loyalty, it's his legacy on the line. I personally tend to believe he's a smarter businessperson than that.
  15. Mr. Harvey in NY seemed to survive TJ surgery no worse for wear. Fwiw.
  16. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2015 -> 06:46 AM) Because logic doesn't enter in the equation. 8-13 is bad but not the end of the world. 2005 had a 5-12 streak and a 7-12 streak and they won 99. Because constantly turning over the roster and expecting different results from the same manager is more logical. Well, more talent but the same woeful results and apathetic, disinterested style of play. Why?
  17. QUOTE (LDF @ May 3, 2015 -> 07:08 AM) i won't discuss last yr RV stats, b/c that team was brutal. this yr, the season is but 1 month old, lets discuss this when / if the sox gets eliminated. but until then they still have a chance. however, i will flip this around, even i am getting tired of this no emotion team playing below standard baseball. crap, i bet one of the minor league team right now, can best this team. no freaking emotion, no signs of this team even caring whether they win or loose. so in essence, who's fault is that???? You can't fire 25 players. What's the one common denominator in terms of baserunning, defense, metal lapses, lack of preparation, inability to be motivated to play on the road (I can guarantee there was no 2-10 road streak in 2005), inability to get runners in from 3b and less than two outs, inability to hit cut off men or back up bases, etc.
  18. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2015 -> 06:46 AM) Because logic doesn't enter in the equation. 8-13 is bad but not the end of the world. 2005 had a 5-12 streak and a 7-12 streak and they won 99. How many playoff appearances do Gardenhire, Matheny and Ausmus have? 10. And Ventura....? With Gardenhire, he has at least proven he can get the job done making the post-season in six out of nine seasons, often besting teams with superior payrolls in the White Sox, Tigers and Indians. As DA likes to say, give Torre/Cox/LaRussa a team with zero power but still one of the biggest contracts in the game (Mauer), a concussion disabled Morneau, no Santana, no Liriano, no Radke, no bullpen other than Perkins, trade away JJ Hardy for a hapless middle reliever, injured Buxton and Sano, no Torii Hunter, no Cuddyer, no Span, no Kubel...they won't be HOF managers. What is the excuse for the Ventura-led White Sox this year? No talent STILL? Don Cooper?
  19. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...-032832072.html Torii Hunter hypocrisy on Mayweather and gays in the clubhouse.
  20. http://sports.yahoo.com/blogs/mlb-big-leag...WQDBHNlYwNzcg-- What Gardenhire is up to these days....not entirely sure hes the long term answer but would like to see what he could do the remainder of this season.
  21. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/03/opinion/...top-span-region Spot on editorial about police unions thats difficult to refute from either side of the political aisle. http://www.nydailynews.com/news/crime/fred...ticle-1.2205747 Ranking officer in Balt case had a history of mental health problems, hospitalized at least once...
  22. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 2, 2015 -> 11:16 PM) I asked Skinner about that last thing in bolded when I interviewed him, so you'll see that this coming week. I also asked that same question of Tommy Thompson and Ryan Newman on past visits if you want to read their takes. Scroll to bottom for the managers in each article. Newman went into more detail on that one. Thanks.
  23. QUOTE (Real @ May 3, 2015 -> 12:05 AM) lmfao, smh. clean punching - mayweather defense - mayweather ring generalship - mayweather effective aggressiveness - draw mayweather landed like 60-70 more punches than pacquiao did according to compubox which is controlled by HBO as far as I know (and Pacquiao is the HBO fighter), so don't cry bias here. And never came close to hurting him...
