QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 06:59 AM) He's solid, and has some pretty good stuff. He has proven it in the past. It's not like were asking him to be an 8th or 9th inning, he would likely enter the 6th or 7th pending on situation. Also, this is how I could see the pitching staff looks like with the sale injury. Samardzija, Quintana, Noesi, Danks, Drabek Robertson, Duke, Petricka, Guerra, Jennings, Putnam, Albers. Then Sale comes back, Drabek becomes long man and can DFA Albers. I could definitely see that happening. Also closing experience with the Dodgers...

QUOTE (oldsox @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) Drabek was the player Toronto got when they traded Roy Halladay to Phillies. He pitched 7 innings so far this spring. The centerpiece. Michael Taylor was also part of that trade....but quickly ended up with OAK.

QUOTE (staxx @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 12:08 PM) I don't know if i agree with that move if its based on 40 man spots. Have the best players play, kyle drabek isn't worth that. Was Nieto?

QUOTE (ron883 @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 09:24 AM) You seem really jealous man. Lets be honest, I think you would be just as excited if the White Sox had Kris Bryant... And I really dislike the argument stating past busts as evidence for why their current prospects will be busts in the future. How does that have ANYTHING to do with their prospects now? LOL. It really comes down to pitching. If the Cubs have success with Bryant, Soler and Russell, then they will be well on their way. If, for example, Schwarber, Baez and Russell all fail, almost nothing Epstein has planned can overcome that...at least until they have more money coming in from the new tv contract in 2019. In the end, if Rodon's as good as predicted, he will be just as valuable, if not more. Bryant's not exactly known for playing "plus" defense at the hot corner, they still might have to convert him to the outfield as there's the possibility of defensive struggles bleeding over into his offensive game.

QUOTE (Brian @ Mar 28, 2015 -> 06:48 AM) I hate MSU basketball but it's amazing Izzo has this team in the Elite 8. Yep, every year MSU gets written off, and somehow he pulls them together at tourney time....like Alford with UCLA. His recruiting has fallen off a bit, but they do have that one McDonald's All-American coming in. Basically, OU reached their apex as a Sweet 16 team...they were a dominating point guard or center away from being a next level team. Just missed way too many shots in the second half, and MSU capitalized on the open door...Trice, Valentine and Dawson make a nice core, and Schilling's come a lot way defensively.

This coming June 15th, he'll be three years removed from his 2nd TJ surgery....so he's had about 1 1/2 seasons of recovery time. Pitching style Drabek throws a four-seam fastball clocked between 90–96 mph, a curveball in the 79–83 mph range, a cutter with a velocity between 89–95 mph, and a changeup in the 83–86 mph range. Drabek is known for his extremely poor control at times and at one point, he led the league in walks.[36] wikipedia This one screams Don Cooper... Drabek, who was out of options and could not be sent to the Minors without clearing waivers, appeared in 30 games with the Blue Jays over the course of five seasons. He went 8-15 with a 5.27 ERA while striking out 118 over 172 1/3 innings. His biggest issue was a lack of command with 111 walks over that same period of time which often led to moments of visible frustration on the mound. www.mlb.com

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 08:38 PM) Already? Like before the season starts? Eh, not so sure about that. There is clear mutual interest there, lets see if they come to an agreement. I think its closer than people think. Theyve had more discussion than players who HAVE signed with the Sox, lets put it that way. As long as the communication lines are open its a good thing. Of course, he could tank this year and maybe we dont want him long term. I have a friend who is a scout who swears that he is about to fall off a cliff and be a HUGE ripoff. With Rodon, Montas, Danish, Johnson, Beck and the #1 pick in the draft, not to mention the compensation pick in 2016....they're definitely not forced to make a deal with Samardzija that causes discomfort in the front office and owner's booth. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 08:07 PM) The arch supports should be soft but with a semi rigid arch. Go to sports authority and get the soft sole brand in the medium density. They are red covering with the yellow bottom, I believe. You just need some support for the arch and foot. If those dont take some of the stress off we can pm and ill get some ordered ones. You should stretch every morning before you get out of bed and before you go to bed. Take your grab your big toe and bend it and foot up as far as you can. Then use your thumb to massage it by starting at the front of the heel up to the big toe. You will feel the strings of the plantar fascia. Don't push so hard that it really hurts just so you feel it a little. Also try night splints. You can order them online. They are basically a strap that holds your foot up so the fascia doesn't tighten up at night. You should wear running shoes as they have more support. However, you should change them every 6 months. Modalities are things like ultrasound and electrical stimulation you would get in a clinic. We're behind here in China on the last part, haha. More likely to give me herbal medicine or acupuncture (which I've never been courageous enough to do). Thanks for the advice. Spot-on as usual. I'll probably look for them in August when I'm back in the States...or order them and have them sent to my US address.

Talks are pretty serious (on a long-term extension) between the Tigers and Price from all indications coming out of Lakeland. -
QUOTE (ptatc @ Mar 27, 2015 -> 10:31 AM) The rehab for it is to get the blood flowing to the area. The fascia is a think piece of tissue on the bottom of the foot that holds up the arch. The typical etiology of the problem is not enough arch support which causes inflammation usual at the proximal end of the tissue at the anterior part of the heel. So they will do alot of aggressive massage, arch supports, stretching and modalities to heat the area up to get blood flowing. If you catch it early and are aggressive with the rehab, it shouldn't take too long depend on the structure of the foot. If it is ignored or not treated properly it can last years. Any arch supports you can recommend? Have never tried them, but it's worth looking into....I know there's Dr. Scholl's. I think part of my problem is playing sports like badminton and tennis with running shoes on...instead of court or sport-specific shoes. The second time, literally it felt like the heel was broken, it was that painful (#2 to kidney stones)...but of course you can't put a cast or walking boot on. What are modalities (besides a math term), btw? I also know when I get foot massages that the tissue on the bottom of my foot (especially around the heel) is always very sensitive and tender...but I always just thought I had sensitive/tender/"soft" feet...I mean, like when you go into the ocean and you're walking on the rocks (and not wearing aquasocks or protection), that feeling just drives me crazy.

I suppose it's possible they use him for the Penny/long man slot, but that really wouldn't help him get things turned around, career-wise. And it sounds like Sale was coming back earlier than most predicted. They have to have noticed some mechanical issues/flaws they feel might be correctable...and want him to work with Cooper for a week or two before going down to the minors.
-
Micah might just have peaked too early in camp. Still, betting money's on him as the starter, correct?

http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/...y-major-leagues Bryant, Epstein differ on his readiness for OD Just watch the Cubs struggle to get out of the gate with a sub .500 record while Bryant is tearing up Iowa and see the pressure ratchet up on a daily basis.
-
http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/pro...p?P=Doug-Drabek I don't think there's any way he's coming north for OD. They just want him in Charlotte with Beck and E.Johnson for rotation depth.

plantar....not easy, have had this twice in my sports career, once for landing on the 1B bag awkwardly on back heel while playing softball...the other playing badminton in 2010, both times it took a good 4-6 months to get through. Actually, it's almost like the bottom of your foot or heel feels broken, but there's nothing you can do but rest and try to not put too much weight on your foot or it will re-irritate it.

Forbes 2015 Baseball valuations out...

QUOTE (LDF @ Mar 26, 2015 -> 09:19 PM) i never thought of that, quite possibly true. however, i would like to think the real reason, the sox spent money and went out and totally revamp the whole lineup and roster. improving the product that will take the field. another thing which is more obvious is Jose A. now if they can create some really great commercials. Sox fans=Not fooled by snazzy marketing campaigns One thing matters. First place, and looking like you can make a legit run into the post-season. -
http://hardballtalk.nbcsports.com/2015/03/...partner=ya5nbcs Cubs predicted at 84 wins, just outside the playoffs for 2015...very similar to White Sox prognostications.

Aiken's looking at having to take the same $2.75-3.25 million that Jeff Hoffman ended up with at 9. Since this is going to be the second time around, it would seem he has even less leverage because he doesn't want to go back to IMG Academy for another full year of mixed results and then see his draft stock fall even further...at least now, he's guaranteed of getting around $3 million and $2.5 million as the very worst-case scenario unless medical evaluations raise even more red flags re: the TJ repair and the likelihood of it holding together for at least 5-6 years before another surgery,
-
http://espn.go.com/blog/sweetspot/post/_/i...teur-inequities Probably the difference of $5+ million and $3 million...like Hoffman's deal at the #9 spot. Might very easily end up with the White Sox.
