  1. Taylor and Robert with pretty similar ops numbers....Taylor at season high of 692.
  2. 672 ops continues to climb
  3. Competitive pitches, competitive at-bats. Sigh. Morpheus lol?
  4. Looks like Smith is getting back his crisper 97-98 mph fb.
  5. That bench looks terrible now except for Teel... Rockies, btw, back at 42-120 pace.
  6. Another high fastball...it's either that or low/inside sliders. Adjustment time.
  7. Brewers: Can they continue to score without slug? The Brewers lead the National League in runs per game and OPS since the start of June, but it’s happened with a mix of patience, contact and speed, and not with power. GM Matt Arnold considered acquiring a bat at the Deadline, but the choices were sparse beyond D-backs slugger Eugenio Suárez, and the prices were astronomical. And besides, June acquisition Andrew Vaughn has already given the Brewers a jolt. The last World Series winner to finish the regular season below league average in slugging percentage was the 2012 Giants. -- Adam McCalvy mlb.com
  8. Another big consideration is that DeVries was at least 2 1/2 to 3 years away from the big leagues, having only debuted in A ball. Braden Montgomery has already jumped him in four months. Then you had Teel Meidroth and even W.Gonzalez ready to contribute this year...waiting that long for Getz with Colson foundering and no pay off for fans until at least late 2026/early 2027 would have been a massive risk because there were so many holes to fill in the Sox future lineup. All depends on whether scouts believe de Vries can stick at big league SS or not.
  9. Just like Antonacci will have to hit year after year after year...especially not die a slow death in Birmingham. Utility middle infielders with 10-15 hr power just don't catch the eyes of scouts without any plus carrying tools. Magglio Ordonez wasn't a big bonus signing, so he just had to put up massive minor league numbers until everyone had no choice but to acknowledge the pudgy shaped slow running RFer could really play ball. Even the fireballing "Miz" of the Brewers was barely on the 85-100 section of most preseason lists with his 100 mph fb due to control and health/injury concerns, reliever profile, etc.
  10. Maybe thinking of Y.Cespedes? "Yogurt" Sanchez SS 2B? Norge Vera? "Although he has plenty of raw power the native of Yara, Cuba struck out an eye-popping 379 times in 1,168 at-bats during his time in Chicago. With this release it can be said that Céspedes was one of the biggest busts ever for the team in international free agency. This will not be the end for Céspedes though, he could very well end up in Asia, México or another farm system." francysromero
  11. Ethan Salas was untouchable two years ago and now his prospect status is question mark city at best. So hard to judge and especially project players at 16-19 years old. Holliday looked like a slam dunk superstar and now he's still putting up just a pedestrian 700ish ops in his bounce back year for Baltimore. Same with the much more advanced Rutschman.
  12. but they nobody ready for that spot...just AAAA/filler types
  13. Civale has actually been their best starter recently...
  14. https://salarysport.com/baseball/player/mike-tauchman/ Most Chicagoans would say that amount minus highest rate taxes is just upper middle class.
  15. Game over for the White Sox?
  16. Starting to sound like Benetti/Bill Walton broadcast...
  17. Finally took the pressure off Julio Rodriguez in that lineup. Well that and Raleigh playing like Johnny Bench.
  18. $9.50 beers and that's with a discount ticket? Yikes. Poor Greg.
  19. Montgomery getting peppered with sliders and high inside FBs to keep him from extending his arms...
  20. Just 39-9 to reach .500, maybe not unless they switch uniforms with 47-14 Brewers.
  21. Right good 'ol Martin Perez.
  22. Still too raw. Plus they'd have to add him to the 40 man roster, right?
  23. Statistically Yoendrys Gomez has been the best AAA starter...
  24. Charlotte has already used 21 different starting pitchers this season. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/team.cgi?id=bf4bc13b
  25. Might need to resign Leury Garcia for the bullpen... Beckham pained since Cannon is a fellow UGA Bulldog.
