  1. By the way, why did the Royals pick Dozier 30-some picks earlier than he was projected? Very strange.
  2. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 07:08 PM) I actually love this pick. Really high upside. I didn't like JP Crawford at all. We went for a great athlete, which I like, but we got a guy who makes contact. I think he sticks at SS. Excited for him and a good change of pace from guys that K a lot. I liked his demeanor, during the interview at least. Someone who has been overlooked in high school....then first year of JC, has a bit of a chip on his shoulder. There was recently an article in BA about how Mississippi high school/JR/college baseball has produced a lot of talent but is often overlooked. In some ways, he's the anti-Hawkins. Not so much flash, no back-flips...just give him a bat and give him an opportunity to prove himself.
  3. QUOTE (Noonskadoodle @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 07:06 PM) Here’s their quick blurb on the Anderson: We keep hearing the Tigers are one of the teams on [Eric] Jagielo, and he’d be a fine selection at 20. That said, I know you can’t pick for need, but when you have Prince Fielder and Miguel Cabrera, plus Nick Castellanos in the minors, I don’t think it makes sense to draft a college third baseman here. So I’m taking East Central (Miss.) CC shortstop Tim Anderson, believing the Tigers will develop an up-the-middle athlete who fits talent-wise and in terms of value at the 20th pick Tigers were looking at Anderson Makes sense...Peralta and Infante are veterans, they don't need a lot at the corners. They're always in "win now" mode. But always the collision of "closest to helping the big league team/signability" vs. raw potential/ceiling.
  4. QUOTE (bbilek1 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 07:02 PM) Completely disagree. Crawford is a supremely advanced HS player and Anderson didn't even get drafted as a freshman. I would wager if the Sox had ended up with Crawford he would have made it to the bigs faster than Anderson. We shall see. We need dynamic players. Crawford doesn't seem like he had a lot of pop or plus speed. He better be a Gold Glove infielder to merit that draft position.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 07:00 PM) Buddy Bell sure didn't think so. And Saladino. Lots of "Top 10" guys in there who might have ended up in our top prospects list (Sanchez, Saladino) because of the overall weakness of the system and not because of any great ability or special merit. We'll see about Sanchez, he's still very young. And Micah Johnson, no matter what position he ends up, is intriguing. Worst case scenario, you could see him as a superutility, Chone Figgins-Lite type player, although whether he'll hit that well remains to be seen at the upper levels.
  6. Well, our whole "multi-sport" star drafting philosophy is going to be tested the next couple of years... Definitely like him over Crawford, as he has a lot more overall speed and athleticism (of course, we said the same things about Mitchell in the past, or Walker). The "shoot for the stars" philosophy is 100X better than the McCulloch/Broadway approach....Ring, Poreda, etc. As they said, if need be, he can be converted to 2B or CF or any of the outfield positions, but he'll start out at SS. Becomes our #2 prospect on draft day...or, at worst, #3 behind Johnson/Hawkins. With the JC experience, he's at least 1 or 1 1/2 years closer to the majors than Crawford, TOO. Fits in a lot better with the idea of replacing Alexei 2 or 2 1/2 years from now.
  7. Why would they want Flowers if they already have Zunino?

  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 12:32 PM) Now I get why everyone hated Trouble with the Curve... The stat guy loses to the eye test guy. Well either that or because it is a f***ing horrible movie. AKA Grady Fuson's.....er, Clint Eastwood and John Goodman/Schuerholz's revenge.

  11. 6 games back, 6 games back!!! Except the Oakland A's are the hottest team in baseball.
  12. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 07:09 PM) Hawkins 0/3, 3 K now. But he had a walk, haha! Actually, the entire team was pretty much shut down.
  13. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 07:22 PM) Maybe we can convert Reed to a starter Phil Rogers
  14. OMG. It is like the game last year against the Mariners. This has to be on ESPN CLASSIC, for all the wrong reasons.
  15. Can't hold down the White Sox offense now, lol.
  16. Casper the Friendly Ghost. We're going to go on a month-long hot streak now and get back into the race. Well, probably not. Still remember the game Addison blew against the M's last year (in Chicago) that we miraculously rallied to win with a comeback of our own.
  17. Well...Paul Konerko continues to try to be the anti-hero.
  18. Someone in the scouting/video department should put together a "lowlights" package of every mental mistake made this season and force the team to watch it for an hour every single afternoon until they start cleaning up these pitiful mistakes. Hustle and effort mistakes, fine. But this crap?
  19. Odds of the Mariners not scoring after that? 1.2%
  20. HAHAHAHAHAHA. Rios acts like he KNEW it. That does it. This is a NEW low point in White Sox modern day history.

  22. Oh, no, they're bringing in the Evil dude from the Shrek movies....Lord Farquhar, who was supposed to represent Michael Eisner of Disney and looked a lot like him, lol. JESUS OF NAZARETH. Rios so lucky he didn't get doubled off. Not busting his butt running back to 1st. Shades of 1991 World Series where Lonnie Smith got deked out by the Twins and cut down on the basepaths. WE SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 5, 2013 -> 05:22 PM) Mike Trout? Bryce Harper? (Not that they will be traded anytime soon) Of players who are realistic possibilities to be traded this season or next.
