Perfect approach to that pitch, Paulie. Would KW dare signing Cliff Lee as a FA and pairing him with Buehrle and Danks???
-
Hilarious. Ozzie was trying to get one of Buehrle's strikes called a ball by motioning that it was too low and smiling. Got to love the Ozzaroo. If any one of us had the same options on the bench and had to start Pods, Betemit and Lillibridge in a game like this, we'd probably be losing it, too. And Dontrelle Willis is back and Bonderman's starting his rehab assignment.
-
431 OPS for Lillibridge, and falling. Jermaine might get suspended for 1-2 games by MLB now for his helmet contacting the umpire, too. Great. Just what we needed, with no depth out there.
-
Lillibridge=Fields=Anderson=Ramirez Nix has the shortest, most compact swing on the team, along with Konerko this season. Lillibridge looks like Elijah Wood in Sin City.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 13, 2009 -> 12:09 PM) There is very little range. Fields is below average, Anorexei is very flashy but average overall defensively IMO, Getz is average no range, Paulie no range, Quentin is not very good in LF, BA rarely has played and everyone else, including Wise who did make a great play when he got hurt although most CF would have made that play without hitting the ground and Upton would have looked like he was loafing, Dye no range. There is no one except Ramirez who can be considered a regular (I'm not considering BA a regular) who doesn't have below average range except for Getz who is probably average but below to his right. Without a pitching staff that strikes people out, its not a good mix. I think Quentin has been average to above average this year in LF, especially compared to last year. He's made some really nice plays out there. Getz doesn't have the arm strength for SS, there's no doubt that Nix/Ramirez is our best possible combination defensively. And Chris goes have to play up the middle as he favors that side since he's much better moving to his left and making those spinning throw in RCF than he is throwing against his body falling into LF/SS.

What are the odds of either Betemit or Lillibridge getting a hit here? We're still in our slots in the order as if we were being no hit, thanks to Lexi's bunt and Lillibridge's DP ball. Will ANYONE go to see the Sox play the Pirates on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th at USCF?
-
I'm not buying Fields as even an average 3B. He just doesn't have very good range...and he makes too many mistakes on lazy throws.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 13, 2009 -> 12:02 PM) Why am I still watching this? There's nothing compelling about this game. To see Lance Broadway or Jimmy Gobble???
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:56 AM) He needs to be coaching these guys not to go in to bases hard where they land all their weight on their heels. Is that his job? Needs to be someone's job. We still have NO idea what Baines really does... Bring in Broadway, maybe he can be the fifth starter. He pitched well the other night, might as well save Mark's arm for later in the season.
-
The White Sox are actually 7th in the AL in pitching, and somehow KC is still first after last night's 12-3 pasting by that offensive powerhouse, the Oakland A's. Wonder where Stone got the idea we were 2nd from the bottom? Hitting and defense, well, that's obvious. We have guys playing out of position every game these days...Nix at SS and RF, Lillibridge in CF, Pods in RF, etc.
-
Harrelson is smoking weed...."we're a good ballclub playing not so good baseball." 2nd from last in fielding, runs scored and defense. Ozzie should be Manager of the Year just for keeping us near .500.
-
Buehrle 9-12 lifetime against CLE, but not good at all there. Garko around 350 with 7 HR's and 31 RBI's career against us. I don't think Lillibridge will equal those 7 or 31 in his entire career. Could we give them back Alexei's bunt single and see if we can get no-hit to make this game more interesting and put more heat (somewhat deservedly) on Walker??

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:48 AM) This is one of the absolute least interesting lineups we've seen during the Ozzie Guillen era. Not much to get excited about. Pods 5 years past his prime against a LHP in the 2 hole, Betemit against ANY LHP and Lillibridge are just terrible, terrible, terrible. Nix at least LOOKS like a hitter and has a short, compact swing. Game, set, match. We now return to our regularly scheduled programming. Garko, it seems, absolutely kills us.

QUOTE (hogan873 @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:46 AM) I realize it's early in the season, and we're missing a few keys guys because of injuries, but I'm starting to see what fans of the Pirates have been feeling for over a decade. add in the Royals, Nationals, Padres (now), Reds, Orioles and Mariners since the glory years at beginning of decade

Only one ball out of the infield so far through 12 batters. Ummm....can't believe we're starting Richard again when it's pretty obvious he has only one pitch and gets crushed the 2nd time through the line-up. Try Carrasco or Omogrosso next time. He's only given up 1 run through 4 IP today and has an ERA under 2.00. If he fails, it's not a huge deal, because he's expected to end up as a reliever anyway. The consequences aren't the same in terms of development with Poreda getting flattened three outings in a row and going back to the minors.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:38 AM) 08: 1-3 07: 1-3 06: 3-3 5-9 the last 3 years. Didn't realize we struggled so much there. But I think overall, we were something like 1-9 or 2-8 in our last ten games against them...what was our head to head last year and in 2007?
-
QUOTE (Brian @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:36 AM) Mark looks good. Didn't think Victor's HR was that well hit. If we get 3 off Lee, we will win. /crosses fingers That ball was hit VERY hard...it was on the outer half of the plate and up, Victor drilled it to RCF almost 400 feet. Didn't look like it was gone right off the bat, but he had a lot of underspin on it and it just kept sailing. But it certainly wasn't muscled out like Thome's ball to RF last night (2nd homer).

QUOTE (Friend of Nordhagen @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:34 AM) Again, with Lillibridge, I just don't get his whole set-up. He's got the bat held high, with his hands way up above his shoulders. Now here's a guy whose swing is too long; why would a hitting coach let a guy who can't get around on the ball start so that he has to bring his hands down and then try to catch up? Lillibridge has a long swing that's not mechanically sound, and he has a really big uppercut...they showed his swing from the side last night and it was comical how it looked liked Willie Mays Hayes from Major League. He has hit two ball to the left of 2nd base all season, one was last night. I think the other was on a hanging curveball he flared into LCF for a single.

QUOTE (Jerksticks @ May 13, 2009 -> 11:33 AM) Jordan up to Bham. Hawk just made him sound like a major leaguer already; easy there Hawk. Good to see he's up hangin out with all his future buddies tho Jordan has now slumped to .429 as we speak. I'm with Harrelson, Birmingham is a lot more interesting than the major league club.
-
I swear Getz is faster than Lillibridge and might have beaten the relay there. Esteban Belte, Jr., your ticket is already purchased for Charlotte Friday. Yesterday was the first time all season we beat a pitcher who entered the game with a +6 ERA, and we face three "no names" (Cecil is known to some) at Toronto, where we've won about 1 of our last 10 games against TOR.
-
Jordan Danks would be doing better than Brent, he's already 3/6 at BIRM. I think Brent only has 10 hits all season. Viciedo all the way up to .246 and 21 RBI's.
-
Lillibridge better have an AB where he fouls off 10-12 pitches so we can see the Indians' bullpen in the 7th or 8th if we want to have any chance to win this game...
-
Sounds about as good as the taunting from Borat's sister to his retarded brother Billow..."you're not going to get this, you're not going to get this..."
-
Josh Fields will have 200 strikeouts this year if they don't send him down to Charlotte first. Has anyone ever struck out more than 150 times and hit less than 10 homers in a season? My mom asked how Josh missed that second strike by so much, and why Konerko is so slow...at least it's humorous.
-
Starters against Lee are averaging an ERA below 1.00...but he's been pitching really well the last 3-4 outings. Viciedo hitting clean-up today for the first time his career for the Barons. Go BIRM!
