Was Caleb Bonemer drafted from high school or college? Do those NCAA picks have more game experience than the high school picks? Pretty obviously. NCAA ball is usually comped to being the equivalent of High A...especially the ACC and SEC. Well, generally the preps spend an extra 1 1/2 to 2 years in the minors to equalize it. I argued over and over and over again Braden wasn't ready...a number of people disagreed. We shall see how he bounces back next year.

That's how the majority of old school scouts look at the game...by comparison. You won't find a single legit scouting report that doesn't have them included.

Name one milb Top 30 hitter (prep draft, not NCAA) who has come up in this situation and actually thrived at the big league level....especially one with a K rate of 25% or higher. And obviously that esteemed GM Chris Getz disagrees, as they are sending him to the Arizona Fall League instead.

Except he had a full half season to get himself mentally ready for the pennant drive...that and the little issue of being a Top 5 hitter all time his first seven seasons. Robin Ventura otoh famously struggled his first two weeks in the majors after being one of the most accomplished players in NCAA history and the Golden Spices winner...which made him rededicate himself to working on his defense and all other facets of his game.

Or look what happened to Moncada the first time he was thrown into Boston's September/October...it was a disaster of epic proportions. It's one of the many reasons they protected Benintendi/Devers in that Crochet trade. If Mune/Kolson aren't going to bounce back...they will 100% need Bonemer and Cholowsky to succeed. And who is a good comp to Bonemer then...since you will reject Moncada and Jenkins lol? Let's hear it.

The reason they do or don't make the postseason shouldn't come down to promoting Caleb Bonemer or not... As it stands, they promoted Braden too early as well...and numerous posters were arguing he was he ready (offensively) after flying through the system in just one year after sitting out much of his draft year.

Well yeah, Jenkins has spent his entire career in CF playing at a GG level and Bonemer has spent all of 7-10 days in AA.

But they are both not well known for being contact hitters. And you really want to add on to the pressure by throwing him into a major league outfield in the heart of a pennant race after just two weeks' experience playing there? He would likely have to be 3B or SS...or DH. You also can't just throw him in at LF or RF with almost zero game experience aside from cf. And don't think they're ready to bench Kolson at this point...or play Meidroth/Acuna at SS with Bonemer at third and Mune benched for Vargas, either.

Maybe. But look at Walker Jenkins' MN line. He has been an overall Top 10-15 milb prospect for three years now. We also already know Bonemer has a high propensity to striking out in High A and AA. Maybe all the young players will start to relax a little bit? It's not as much a move of desperation like it would have felt with a loss Monday night...but it does make Wed more interesting. The thing we all said was that they absolutely couldn't afford to get swept. Well, that has been avoided for now. Pressure is back on CLE 100%.
