  1. Reminds me of Sonic lol...foot long Coney taken to an absolute extreme.
  2. yes, I'm just putting the actual numbers out there...
  3. There's a IFSA ticket subsidy if attendance falls below 800,000...just like there was a small tax charged to the Sox for every ticket sold above 1.93 million. The management agreement between ISFA and the White Sox “requires the team to pay a base rent per season, plus net ticket fees if paid attendance exceeds 1.93 million tickets," with that "excluding 'comp' tickets." The team “hasn’t paid ticket fees since 2010,” when it drew nearly 2.2 million fans. Last year, the franchise brought in their highest attendance since then, 1.92 million fans -- “just missing the threshold needed to pay ISFA.” While ISFA does "not heavily rely on revenue from ticket fees to meet its bond obligations,” the “glaring issue is the White Sox’s ability to bring in fans” https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2023/09/14/chicago-white-sox-ticket-sales-no-fee-payments-isfa/
  4. Dodgers-Cubs opener in Tokyo averages more than 25 million viewers in Japan, a record audience. Tuesday's first game of the Tokyo Series averaged more than 25 million viewers in Japan according to Major League Baseball, making it the most-watched MLB game in the country's history. 838,000 on Fox Tuesday (Yamamoto vs.Imanaga), 361,000 FS1 on Wed (Sasaki debut at 3 am PST) Japan/MLB contract worth in the $50-$75 million range and rising...
  5. Marquee will cost more, however, on Xfinity’s higher tier, which in some markets is called “Ultimate TV.” At this time I don’t know what that higher price will be, though the Sun-Times article says in some other markets it’s been $20 a month. Comcast recently moved the Giants channel NBC Sports Bay Area onto its higher tier in that market, and I don’t know the extra cost there either. The Agrest article notes: It’s a risk for Comcast. They could wind up with more cord-cutters than people who want to pay the premium, and lose money in the balance.

  7. What are the likely lineups? Angels Taylor Ward, LF Nolan Schanuel, 1B Mike Trout, RF Jorge Soler, DH Logan O'Hoppe, C Yoán Moncada, 3B Luis Rengifo, 2B Jo Adell, CF Kevin Newman, SS White Sox Austin Slater, RF Luis Robert Jr., CF Andrew Benintendi, DH Andrew Vaughn, 1B Matt Thaiss, C Miguel Vargas, 3B Lenyn Sosa, 2B Michael Taylor, LF Jacob Amaya, SS
  8. Several infielders who are on the bubble, including Brooks Baldwin, Nick Maton and Tristan Gray, were expected to be on the plane without knowing if they’ll be on the team. Outfielder Travis Jankowski is in the same situation as general manager Chris Getz and staff wait until the last minute while considering waiver claims, potential trades and players released from other camps. “It puts a stress on everybody, and this is part of it, and you work through it,” first-year manager Will Venable said. In Amaya, the Sox have “a great defender,” Venable said. “And we love the stability that he brings to the defensive position. And he’s done a really nice job offensively, really kind of shortening down his stroke. He admittedly was trying to do a little too much early in camp, but I think he got back to kind of who he really is.” SunTimes.com/sports
  9. Yeah...luckily will get in at least opener and Sat. Sunday might be cold and rainy.
  10. https://www.mlb.com/news/ryan-johnson-makes-angels-major-league-club Angels' second rounder in 2024 goes directly to MLB bullpen from Dallas Baptist.
  11. "But the bulk of the Sox position player prospect depth is arranged up the middle, so the Sox have a version of this choice at pretty much every level. Last year's second round pick Caleb Bonemer is expected to play the bulk of shortstop over Javier Mogollón at Low-A Kannapolis, who was shifting over to second on the backfields. Jeral Pérez, from last July's Erick Fedde trade, will mostly play short at High-A Winston-Salem and be partnered up the middle with fifth round pick and contact maven Sam Antonacci taking most of the reps at second. An impressive spring with several cameos in big league games earned slick-fielding William Bergolla, the return from the Tanner Banks trade, a promotion to Double-A Birmingham. Bergolla played mostly second base in the Phillies organization and mostly shortstop after the trade, and will have to mix in at both next to former first-round pick Jacob Gonzalez." 12. Book editing/publishing is being wiped out by AI/NoRedInk/Grammarly/ChatGPT/DeepSeek... Broadcaster, best have a really strong sports background (as an athlete) and/or Syracuse degree, haha.
  13. Have a feeling Jankowski will be activated for Tauchman IL...but that logically would happen AFTER the Canario claim, not before it. OF Jose Azocar is also going to be available...fwiw.

You should at least know his name's spelling by now...C-A-N-A-R-I-O, and you're aware that Andrew Vaughn was 3rd overall and Nick Madrigal 4th overall??? Career minor league OPS=.847 Has over 100 minor league games played in CF https://www.thebaseballcube.com/content/player/210595/
  15. Can't claim him...then we'd have to get rid of, slowly GASPS....Jankowski Taylor Tauchman Slater.

  17. The crazy thing is that there's no way the Padres would trade Campusano for Korey Lee straight up. But they must not be happy enough with his game management skills as a catcher.

The new Gavin Lux around here. Or Outman/Pages.
  19. The first year post Belle and Ventura. Konerko had just been acquired for Cameron. And we thought fan "anger" was high then....look at that line-up compared to 2024/2025, lol. Of course, the 1997 White Flag Trade didn't help matters. 1999 Comiskey Park II. Attendance: 1,338,851 (13th of 14, 16,529 average). Feel pretty confident they're not going to get 1.3 million in attendance this season... 1999 Opening Day lineup Ray Durham, 2B Mike Caruso, SS Frank Thomas, 1B Paul Konerko, DH Magglio Ordóñez, RF Greg Norton, 3B Jeff Abbott, LF Darrin Jackson, CF Brook Fordyce, C James Baldwin, P
  20. Wow! I commend you. Talk about sticking through things thick and thin. White Sox season ticket holder last season, also?
  21. So it's down to Baldwin and Amaya...one will go when they eventually activate Josh Rojas.
  22. Pirates right-hander Jared Jones recently had a start skipped due to some elbow inflammation, leading to a series of tests. Noah Hiles of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Jones does not have any ligament damage and will not require surgery. However, he will be shut down from throwing for the next six weeks. About a week ago, manager Derek Shelton relayed to reporters that Jones had experienced the elbow discomfort. The club had already done some imaging but Jones was going to be sent for a second opinion. That’s generally not pleasant framing, as going for a second opinion typically means you didn’t like the first. While they avoided the worst-case scenario of a surgery that would have sidelined him into 2026, the Bucs will be without arguably their second-best starter for quite some time. Jones won’t even resume throwing until the first or second week of May at the earliest. He’ll likely require a 4-6 week buildup from there. He’d need to get through multiple bullpen and live batting practice sessions before he’s ready to go on a rehab assignment. Jones would likely need at least 2-3 minor league appearances before he’s ready for his season debut. He’ll miss most of the first half. mlbtraderumors.com
  23. 47 °F°C Precipitation: 25% Humidity: 71% Wind: 8 mph Weather Thursday Cloudy Weather forecast has cooled off by about five degrees or so...looks like most of the rain during that day will be early morning or later at night. Opening Day Attendance last year was 33,000+. The weather was a little nicer/sunnier than this year will be. The Angels have pretty much no compelling stories other than Mike Trout and the ex-White Sox...for those few souls primarily motivated to watch Anderson, Moncada and Nicky Lopez, haha. It's going to be a pretty big story if White Sox attendance falls below 30,000 IMO. Believe it will come in very close to that number, +/- 1,500 either side of 30,000.
  24. Hallmark Cards? American Greetings? I will give him credit for moderating his stance to a more neutral/PTAC-esque tone. It was getting kind of boring having EVERYONE crushing JR, Getz, Hahn/KW, etc. Of course, there's not that much money or fame taking the middle road of objectivity/unbiased writing these days. Look at sports talk/radio. Those who shout the loudest and have the most controversial takes are usually the ones with the highest salaries. I watched Jason Whitlock make a career out of this starting with the KC Star. Otoh, I saw the consummate professional Joe Posnanski start his career with the Augusta Chronicle and he's one of the few "great" sports journalists still remaining IMO. I really like Jeff Passan a lot too, when he doesn't get so involved in politics and Shawnee Mission School District debates, lol. He's a huge baseball fan, of course.
