Rusty Kuntz is 70 years old now....wow, time flies. He was the Royals' 1B coach as recently as 2021, but pretty sure he's retired now.

Isn't Anderson at Northwestern now? Or he was an assistant there but got passed over for the head job? He wasn't exactly the most disciplined as a player, not sure how that would translate into coaching. Anderson joined Northwestern as an assistant coach in 2023. Brian Simmons that used to work with Bulls/Sox Academy might be a better choice.

That would be fine, too. (Or Iguchi to start establishing connections with NPB.) I'm more concerned with the minor leaguers learning proper outfield defense at this point...the big league veterans pretty much are what they are, although Benintendi seems like he has room for improvement based on the last couple of years and previous GG.

Opening Day Angels/Sox 3/27...
Yeah, I was a bit surprised it wasn't Booser, but it seems like Venable's going to manage "by feel" every single game in the early going and will resist naming an official closer (Clevinger) for as long as possible to keep all the young/inexperienced arms down in that pen feeling like they could be used at any time and in any situation. Bryse Wilson and Vasil seem like the designated "long/swing" guys for now...or spot starters.

He's the "Offensive Coordinator." That might be in the major league dugout, but I think he'll be all over the system during the course of the year, especially AAA/AA/Winston-Salem and then working with Braden and Wolkow a lot. I think every team has a minor league coordinator, but this is more focused on hitting apparently, which is interesting since Grady was always well known for his defensive skills as well. White Sox really need a defensive specialist like Rusty Kuntz in KC. It most definitely was NOT Daryl Boston.

Opening Day Angels/Sox 3/27...
I think it's the right mix of veterans...reminding the young players with their professionalism that they have to EARN playing time and not just have it simply given to them. In some ways, I hope they send Baldwin back down to the minors when Rojas returns just so he can get regular at-bats. Which means Maton would have the last spot on the team due to his spring training impression/s. Everyone seems to love Maton's personality in the clubhouse, team chemistry is important coming off 121 losses. Moving on from Fletcher and Colas helps too, Steven Wilson, etc. We'll have to wait and see how this Closer Clevinger Experiment works out. So far, so good.

Grady Sizemore helped to change the mood around the team as well...and, of all things, fans booing when they weren't losing enough games in the final six weeks and Benintendi getting pissed off for the first time as a member of the Sox, finally showing some emotion.

White Sox, Guardians 1-0 Royals, Twins 0-1 Tigers/Skubal just gave up a 3 run bomb to Teoscar, now trail 4-2 in middle innings White Sox leading AL Central in RS/RA, lol.

Leasure has always had a good arm, but it's all about command/control. Maybe the new split finger combined with the slider and fastball will be enough to keep hitters honest this year.

In-market...which is definitely not Iowa, having grown up in the QC. So local/Chicagoland metro area viewers shouldn't be blacked out.

For now, I think Venable wants to win more than develop...and it's not like we have any top prospects on the big league team right now anyway. After 3-22 start last year...win feels huge even over the Angels.

Not a general recipe for success but worked out. Vargas with two hits. Ended last year 0/21 or 22.

Trout in his prime would have taken one of those to the downs...escaped. Too many pitches but lived to fight another day.
