  1. "After retiring as a player, Francona began coaching, spending several years in the Chicago White Sox organization. In 1991, he managed the rookie league Sarasota White Sox of the Gulf Coast League. In 1992, he managed the South Bend White Sox of the mid-level Class A Midwest League. As manager of the AA franchise Birmingham Barons in 1993–95, he posted a 223–203 record and won two distinctions: Southern League Manager of the Year in 1993, Baseball America's Minor League Manager of the Year in 1993, and top managerial candidate by Baseball America in 1994, the same year Michael Jordan played for Birmingham. Birmingham won the Southern League championship in 1993. Francona managed in the Dominican Winter League with the Águilas Cibaeñas, and he also won the championship and the Serie del Caribe in 1995–96." Wikipedia He goes from the White Sox organization to getting hired by good friend Buddy Bell to be the third base coach with the Tigers in 1996. Real Men of Genius
  2. Who was the White Sox manager from 1995-1997 when Francona was in the system? Terry Bevington of course

  4. A lot of talent on that Reds' team. Comes down to health and starting pitching after Greene.
  5. Chourio denied one last shot to tie it. Lindor is going to finish 2nd in MVP voting...arguably better for MLB to have Mets / Phillies. Heartbreak for Brewers' fans. Great mini series.
  6. Frelick Ortiz Turang Chourio
  7. Winker has gone insane lol. Slamming down helmet at the plate and shattering it. 4-2
  8. Starter David Peterson warming.
  9. Wow. 15 scoreless innings in a row for Mets. Is Diaz really going to go three innings now after every thing ng that's happened this week?
  10. Too bad never hitting coaches or Barfield and his lieutenant would be all over them.
  11. This game changed on a dime. Mets have one last comeback in them? Diaz still struggling due to Monday pitch count. Alonso almost the goat there.

  13. Tobias Myers starting for the Brewers tonight in the most important game of the season against the Mets. Released by Chris Getz in 2022. http://www.google.com.hk/url?q=https://twitter.com/draftniks/status/1841979519583859147%3Fref_src%3Dtwsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwjEzbjMq_OIAxWMHjQIHfWqHdsQglR6BAgIEAI&usg=AOvVaw03NHklzciIW72EnWcojGcD Tobias Myers pitching for Brewers vs Mets in Game 3 Almost right out of the gate in the 2024 season, the Brewers faced significant injuries to its starting pitching staff. Enter Tobias Myers. He delivered for the Brewers and then some. Just two years ago, in his seventh minor-league season, Myers went 1-15 with a 7.82 ERA at Class AAA and was cut by three teams. The Brewers signed him and now, two years later, he's been the team's best pitcher. He pitched his first big-league game April 23 and never left the rotation. He started 25 games and played a big part in stabalizing the rotation. The 26-year-old Myers led the Brewers starters with a 3.00 ERA and, during a three-month period beginning in June, he had the best ERA in baseball. For the season, he had a 1.17 WHIP, posted 127 strikeouts and finished with a 9-6 record. https://www.jsonline.com/story/sports/mlb/brewers/2024/10/03/tobias-myers-brewers-starting-pitchers-playoffs-vs-mets-stats/75497575007/
  14. So technically Tatis doesn't fit because he never had an official MilB at-bat? Did Chavez not have a contract with the White Sox in spring training?
  15. But isn't Pham the one who has now been to 4-5 consecutive post seasons? He must have something going for him or he would be out of the sport like Anderson.
  16. We're also looking at a situation where the Cleveland Detroit and KC GM's are going to finish 1-2-3 in the AL Executive of the Year competition. Yes Rick Hahn also won it once. So basically Montgomery Quero Smith Schultz Taylor and Burke all fulfill their potential...and cheaply. How many wins does that get you to without major free agent spending and a solid bullpen? Let's even imagine the 2026 draft pick is more Witt Jr. and less 2024 Holliday. Is that a .500 team? Maybe. But absolutely everything would have to break right. And how often outside of 2005 has that ever happened with this franchise?
  17. See first sentence. We might as well be accurate if everyone is going to be listed. And Chavez got rocked in Sox ST, pretty much everyone simply said it won’t matter in the regular season…when the lights are on. And they were absolutely right. He did his job…how many in the Sox bullpen this year could one say that about?

Nobody expected Salvy Perez to have this type of season offensively at his age…and Pasquantino was a monster with RISP. Nobody else besides the big 3 and Massey stood out offensively, other than Maikel’s stolen bases. Really, it was Ragans Lugo Wacha and Singer and then a dominant bullpen down the stretch even though they lost their nominal closer in McArthur.
  19. Aspiring to be the Pirates essentially is not going to work as a long-term strategy.
  20. https://www.fox43.com/article/news/nation-world/bally-sports-mlb-team-games-broadcasting-2025-season/507-68a9f5cf-8d33-42a3-8edf-de80f5c16e99 Down to only the Braves As part of its reorganization plan, Diamond plans to void the contracts of the Detroit Tigers and Tampa Bay Rays and to attempt to rework the deals of the five franchises that are partial owners of their regional sports networks — the Cincinnati Reds, Kansas City Royals, Los Angeles Angels, Miami Marlins and St. Louis Cardinals. The Cleveland Guardians, Milwaukee Brewers, Minnesota Twins and Texas Rangers have contracts that expired at the end of the regular season. That would leave the Atlanta Braves as the only franchise whose contract would be unchanged.
  21. Don't forget Tito Landrum... Unscientific reddit poll on firing Brandon Hyde 164 Absolutely 710 Absolutely Not 371 Deserves One More Year
  22. The argument is then that Cease over XYZ allows the Orioles to overtake the Yankees in the regular season and completely avoid the WC series. But if their bats struggled so mightily down the stretch, another five days was simply going to delay the inevitable hot wild card team dicing right through them like the Rangers did last year after first taking out TBR.
  23. You're forgetting the Dodgers, Lynn Kelly Hudson, etc. Royals' LHR Sam Long pitched for Kanny in 2019 before becoming a minor league FA LHP Jesse Chavez was released out of ST and immediately picked up by ATL, pitched along with Bummer in relief
  24. They're not going to fire him based on 5 playoff games...
