  1. Philadelphia 76ers' downtown stadium plan recently fell apart as well. Calling this pretty much the worst/bleakest period in White Sox history. At least the mid to late 80's, the early 1970's...they had end points or fixes and turnarounds in sight. (Unless you want to go back to 1919 to the 1950's, lol). The late 80's had a massive core of incoming talent and a new stadium that was originally quite exciting until the reality of it dawned, juxtaposed with what the Orioles had achieved simultaneously with Camden Yards. Honestly, even the A's (because they will eventually have a home and new stadium) and Rays (Tampa/NYY minor league home) situations feel more optimistic from a fan standpoint. Maybe we're the Marlins, but even they have a much nicer/newer facility. The Rockies at least have a nice stadium and incredibly loyal fans who get to watch the Dodgers/Padres/DBacks at least, lol. Even the Pirates have the makings of a monster rotation to look forward, Skenes is already a superstar...the only question (not Livvy Dunne related) is whether he'll dare sign an extension to remain in that market for the first 7-8 years of his professional career.
  2. Well, wasn't there a video or picture with Luis Robert wearing a Sox hat before he signed? Or maybe it was Machado wearing some type of Sox gear...probably personally delivered by his brother in law Yadier Alonso or perhaps Jon Jay meeting up with him down in Miami, lol? That was the all-time desperation Sox move, and also the biggest waste of money by Hahn....well, at least in the bottom quartile of his history of FA moves.
  3. It's going to require an injury on another team and an actual HOT start out of Vaughn...in terms of doubles and HR's, RBI's obviously won't reflect his numbers with an offense as challenged as the White Sox will be out of the gate in 2025. And belief on the part of their scouting dept (acquiring team) that anything connected to the White Sox can probably be fixed by a change of scenery/coaching staff.
  4. Without their #2 and #3 receivers to boot. In another sense, this year was all about the resurgence of RBs like Mixon Barkley and Jacobs to name just a few.
  5. Gausman, Berrios, Francis, Bassitt, Yariel Rodriguez rotation in Toronto. Snell Ohtani Yamamoto Glasnow Gonsolin May Cease (FA), King (FA), Darvish, Vasquez, Waldron…Musgrove out for the year
  6. “Padres officials have maintained from the start — and through the drama created by a lawsuit contesting control of the team’s ownership group — that they have a good chance to sign the 23-year-old right-hander. Many people around the league opined last week that questions about the team’s ownership would harm the Padres’ chances to land Sasaki. But chatter among MLB teams’ personnel people increasingly names the Padres as the favorite to land the pitcher who posted a 2.02 ERA in 414⅔ innings over four seasons in Japan. Sasaki can sign as soon as Wednesday, the first day of the new international free-agent signing period. He has to sign by Jan. 23, when his 45-day posting period expires.” https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/01/13/padres-appear-to-be-a-finalist-as-sasaki-suitors-fall/ Dodgers, Padres & Blue Jays Emerge As FinalistsThe finalists for Japanese star right-hander Roki Sasaki are the Los Angeles Dodgers, San Diego Padres and Toronto Blue Jays, sources tell ESPN. Mariners out now, too, apparently. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/43401000/yankees-rangers-added-clubs-sasaki-join Francys Romero is from mlb.com. https://www.truebluela.com/2025/1/6/24289870/roki-sasaki-endgame-january-23-deadline-to-sign BTW, that article reported that Roki has been photographed wearing Padres gear. For those putting off dental work, shopping, or bathroom breaks, Two More Days...
  7. Somehow they're the co-favorites with Milwaukee...
  8. And if Robert hits 3+ he's likely traded too...not sure anyone else even approaches 2.
  9. None of the QBs drafted high will out produce even Nix unless Cam Ward goes to a team with some weapons like the NYG.
  10. https://global.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/43359363/mlb-offseason-2025-roki-sasaki-free-agency-team-beat-dodgers-padres-mets Seemingly nobody here has the Cubs in the mix. That seems like a mistake. Mariners feel like a dark horse but there's just no history of consistent winning or huge payrolls unless you go back two decades. SD has this new ownership fight between Seidler's brothers and ex wife that's a distraction at best...Sasaki is pretty the key to their entire off season at this point. Have already seen Kim Scott Profar into FA and Cease King Arraez Suarez not that far behind. I actually think Wolfe knows it's better for baseball in general were he to end up in Toronto Seattle SD Chicago...
  11. They won't take a hs SS unless they believe he can make it to the big leagues in just 2-3 years. Fans won't even be left by 2029/30 at the projected rate of this rebuild.
  12. Being a Blue Jay has him out of the intense media spotlight, still leaves him playing the Yankees Red Sox Orioles Mets Phillips Braves....eastern time zone so more media exposure, and he doesn't have Ohtani and Yamamoto's shadows hanging over him. Toronto has a pretty decent Asian population cosmopolitan city with intl airport hub. No wildfires or earthquakes. The big concern there is that Bichette and Guerrero both might be gone a year from now and Springer's facing already. Not exactly great odds of making a playoff run compared to the Cubs Dodgers probably SD...either.
  13. I'd say winning more than 60 games would definitely make him a strong candidate.
  14. Who is left? Dodgers Cubs Padres Blue Jays?
  15. That last line is why sort of hoping for horrifically bad instead of 55ish wins seems the most rational thought for fans who know "open spigots" spending and a beautiful new stadium aren't ever going to be in the cards from a Reinsdorf family member.
  16. Then they're doomed because the Guardians Twins Tigers all run rings around the Sox in identifying and developing young talent...and Witt Jr. alone is more productive than the entire White Sox offense. Not to mention you've got the Twins for sale...already. So they're going to get the jump on whatever happens with the Sox down the line. "The games count the same, and the pain of a third consecutive miserable summer will take an even greater toll on the shrinking portion of the fan base that is capable of feeling." This line is going to prove prophetic...
  17. Very simple. Roki Sasaki is not going to sign with the Dodgers or Padres. https://torontosun.com/sports/baseball/toronto-blue-jays/sasaki-courted-jays-reported-visit
  18. "Wyatt Langford and Max Clark were the top-ranked players of Wasserman’s 2023 group, and representing those players provided Wasserman with information about what the teams picking up top might be thinking, while others like Rhett Lowder, Nolan Schanuel, Aidan Miller, Colin Houck, Nolan Schanuel, George Lombard Jr. and Adrian Santana helped offer clues into how the middle and final third of the first round might unfold. “We had an idea of how we thought the draft would go,” Abbot said. “We played out the different scenarios. So Max and Wyatt were kind of in one collective group, and then Rhett and Nolan were in that second grouping. And then we had our high school shortstops—Santana and Houck and Miller and Lombard—they were in that next grouping for us." https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/inside-wassermans-33-million-first-round-war-room/ Wasserman/Wolfe don't mess around. Walker Jenkins one of the ones that went with Boras Corp. in this draft group.
  19. https://bluejaysnation.com/news/blue-jays-scouting-report-on-christopher-polanco-the-top-international-prospect-linked-to-toronto-for-the-2025-signing-period White Sox need to go after SS Christopher Polanco (DR) assuming the Jays will need to let him go to sign Sasaki instead.
  20. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-rumors-trades-and-signings?t=trades-and-transactions Blue Jays fit all the descriptors...but not sure their fans can handle another disappointment after the Ohtani flirtation last year. That he flew all the way to Toronto is pretty telling. Thank god the White Sox don't have to compete in the East...it would be completely hopeless.
  21. Maye has looked solid, Young in Carolina down the stretch too. Penix with flashes...we'll see next year. Some organizations have so many flaws that they just screw up everything they touch. Jax CLE Bears Jets Raiders immediately come to mind.
  22. Maybe bleeding over from Orioles' hate...might as well throw Nats in there too, Ravens, etc.
  23. https://www.mlb.com/news/2025-underrated-mlb-free-agents Lists seven...more candidates for Getz to sign and flip. Well, other than Nick Pivetta, that is.
  24. Texsox was just bored and trolling SoxTalk like Greg likes to do occasionally....getting both sides all riled up. What would never fascinating to see is the 'ol KW Big Board with future free agents listed on it. Getz implied we were eventually going to sign a $100+ million player...but there aren't a lot of realistic options for the OF coming up. For example, does anyone see Bo Bichette coming off a strong rebound season in Toronto signing with the White Sox??? They will need CF, LF and likely SS through a potential Robert trade/2025-26 draft/FA. Maybe they get pretty lucky and Zavala or Wolkow fill another corner spot to go along with Braden.
  25. Yes no Pallette Schoenle Adisyn Coffey...pretty sure they had P.Berroa from the Santos trade.
