Sox @ Tigers Delayed Start on now, Game 2, Avoiding 162?, Burke
Are the Mets 40-120 or 40-120-1? Seen it listed both ways. By the way have yourself a season Jose Ramirez...the quietest 40/40 of he manages it. 39 homers. Carries that offense.

Cheering for the loss record at home must have galvanized team in common opposition to derision and mockery.

Never in a billion years would have put Benintendi down for 20 homers and right there with Vaughn and over Robert. Trade trade trade...just not on the back of Crochet.

Soroka on for Burke, 2-0 lead, Vaughn drove in Benintendi. Andrew V. barely clinging to the only plus 700 on team currently, ops now at 703.

Sox @ Tigers Delayed Start on now, Game 2, Avoiding 162?, Burke
Yeah, 49 strikes, 35 balls…a bit wild but 6 k’s and made it through 5 unscored upon. Probably gets to start the sixth, but they might want to leave it there into the offseasom. Just stranded doubled at second with two outs. Crazy low sub 1.50 ERA on the stat sheet for a 120+ win team. Jackson Jobe has also pitched well…but this Sox lineup, sheesh.

Burke really staking a rotation spot for next year, 5 k’s through 3, walks too, but looks like a Cannon 3/4 type potential if he can harness his potential. Ramos homered, #3. No Robert again. Like his repertoire so far.

Sox Twitter on CNN/Yahoo declares worst team ever
https://sports.yahoo.com/chicago-white-sox-lose-121st-game-of-the-season-set-modern-era-mlb-record-for-losses-005850167.html NFL: 2008 Detroit Lions, 0-16; 2017 Cleveland Browns, 0-16 NBA: 2011-12 Charlotte Bobcats, 7-59, .106 winning percentage; 1972-73 Philadelphia 76ers, 9-73, .110 winning percentage NHL: 1974-75 Washington Capitals, 8–67–5, .131 winning percentage MLB: 2024 White Sox, 39-121 (with 2 left to play), .244 winning percentage Because of the sheer number of games, it's tough to compare baseball to other sports. The 2024 White Sox have more wins than every other team on this list combined, and none of those teams lost 121-plus games in a season. That's what makes the MLB season so tough. It's just as long as the other three major sports (roughly six months), but teams play much more often. With the differences among all the sports, is it possible to determine which of these was the worst? Ask the fans of any one of these teams, and they'll give you a convincing reason that their team deserves to be considered the worst of all time. And in truth, there's no wrong answer. But the White Sox have been so bad this season that surviving members of the 1962 New York Mets, the previous worst-team record-holders, expressed sympathy for the 2024 White Sox squad. When something like that happens, it's time to end the contest.

Sheets drinking the Kool-Aid “Winning three in a row, maybe we could do something special and ride it out and win six in a row and you start to believe in that and think maybe it's not going to happen,” first baseman Gavin Sheets said. “And all of a sudden on the last out, you realize you’re part of the wrong side of history. It was a little more frustrating and it hurt a little bit more than I expected.” “No real emotions,” Crochet said. “We put ourselves in this position early on. We had a bad April. We just never dug ourselves out of that hole. We are where we are because of the way we played. But that’s just all it is.” Crochet’s first season as a starter closed out with four scoreless innings, six strikeouts and one walk. After throwing 73 innings combined over parts of three seasons as a reliever, Crochet fanned 209 against 33 walks over 146 innings. He concluded with a 6-12 record and a 3.58 ERA, looking as strong as he has all season over his last two starts against the Tigers and Padres. Merkin mlb.com

Getz asks for "patience"...
Not be “short sided” (constantly playing one man down with IL trips foregone) or “short-sighted” lol? “Our fans certainly don’t deserve to go through anything like this,” said general manager Chris Getz said this week. “They pay money to come to games and watch games. They look to watch the Chicago White Sox as a positive outlet and we haven’t been able to provide too many positive outcomes throughout the season.” From tonight’s Fegan article at soxmachine

Crochet open to extension...
“I like the pieces that we have. I like the relationships I’ve developed with this [pitching] staff,” Crochet said. “I’ve got a lot of trust in [general manager Chris] Getz, and I think so does everybody in our clubhouse. It’s now just a matter of letting our young guys develop and continue to get reps. You can kind of see everything coming together throughout the year as guys started to come up.” Scott Merkin mlb.com

Chasing Records — 121 losses, modern MLB record
I actually was suspended once for talking too much about how JR was getting overly attacked and it was getting to be too fine a line between cheapness accusations and stereotypical tropes. But then a certain candidate says voting by both Arabs and Jews reflects self hatred or something like that sigh.
