That would have been good for $20+ million. I mean, maybe if they'd actually won the series...

Unless the Yankees or Red Sox sign Ohtani...

Makes the Leury deal as a result of ONE Grand Slam in the playoffs seem even more ridiculous in retrospect.

Pretty sure the Michigan/Iowa point spread is going to be in the 20+ range. When's the last time a P5 league championship game had odds that extreme? Could be the last Iowa team in my lifetime to make it (Kirk Ferentz will have less and less incentive, except financially, to stick it out with his son now cast aside, perhaps coaching the same school 30 years in a row???)...with USC, UCLA (goodbye Chip Kelly), Oregon and Washington coming on board. Somehow Cal and Stanford to the ACC seems even stranger.

Well, when your offseason consists of HOPING to get the likes of a Montas or Severino to fill out the rotation and you're convinced that the Cubs are going to sign Ohtani or the equivalent of Seager/Semien...of course, it's obviously not as fun to root against the Cubs as it is FOR the team you support. At least not anymore (see 2023 August/Sept.) But especially after 2016. It's more like rooting against a highly politicized corporation.

It took ages to vacate the Reggie Bush/USC years, for example. -

Has a team ever been banned from postseason play this late in a season? Then they would just sit out the B10 championship? Iowa has nothing to play for with half the team out due to injuries…maybe to cover the point spread, O/U or push PSU down to a lesser bowl where they’d play Utah instead of Ole Miss. Feels a bit more like the Astros scandal or Deflategate where actual serious consequences were avoided. -
Both TEs in tOSU MI game going to have solid pro careers. Interesting that Henderson is already on the bench...but power back much more effective there. Harrison has been a non factor except one highlight reel catch over the shoulder on a quick adjustment. This game and Oregon//Wash working as de facto 1st round playoff games. That leaves Texas and Bama on the outside looking in...along with FSU minus Travis.

Yeah...we still would have had the advantage then, burnt it was a nervous feeling down 1-0 and with ace Contreras having lost to Byrd and desperation time for an offense that had been kept in check in cold weather.

I've said it many times before and I will say it again. The Pohlads need to sell the team to someone who is actually interested in owning a winning baseball team. Carl Pohlad bought the Twins for $32 million dollars in 1984. According to Forbes, the team is now worth $1.4 billion dollars. The Twins could 'lose' $50 million dollars a year for 20 straight years and the Pohlads would still make a nearly half-billion dollar profit from the sale of the team. Instead, we get penny-pinching and budget cuts to make sure they can finish every season with a healthy profit. No way he would be lower than second based on last season…it would one of their infinite list of young LAD pitchers, so you’d pretty much have two quite similar 1A and 1B pieces (simply based on the fWAR put up so far by Outman vs. pitcher prospect hype) and then a fringey guy like the two lottery tickets we got in the trade for intl. bonus pool money (used on one of the best young Koreans)

Guess assuming loss more likely in extras on the road…

Grifol or TLR jerseys? Boston? Lee or Seby? Leury? Kimbrel? Little Nicky Two Strikes?

Why wouldn't move Robert off CF when he's one of the best in the game?

I started a new job. My boss said "Hi, my name is Rebecca, but people call me Becky". I said "My name is Kyle, but people call me Dick". She said "how do you get Dick from Kyle?" I replied "you just ask nicely."

Depends of JR's tolerance for outright embarrassment for JR with both the Bulls and Sox...nearly year-long fan disenchantment.

Goodbye Geno Smith in Seattle…or the OC. -
The problem is his contract is not exactly cheap for his level of production, lack of a position and plethora of injuries. He's not a pre arbitration guy still under quite affordable team control. Some trades have even suggested ostensibly Top 20 organizational returns are reasonable in order to dump what’s remaining on his contract.

MLB free agency 2023: How long will Shohei Ohtani remain a two-way star? Article projects just 2025-27 https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb-free-agency-2023-how-long-will-shohei-ohtani-remain-a-two-way-star-192517753.html -
Think of how much money they would have saved with Royce Lewis at SS and no Carlos Correa deal? They'd actually now be able to afford Sonny Gray on a 2 year year deal, and to fix their bullpen, instead of taking the very typical AL Central "scrap heap" approach to filling out a rotation...I guess they did give Maeda a pretty decent deal as well at one point.

https://twinsdaily.com/news-rumors/minnesota-twins/did-twins-lose-money-2022-revenues-losses/ Looks like the Twins are going after former Sox Frankie Montas...not exactly sure how that replaces Sonny Gray.
