  1. So we should now start a separate possible trades thread? But it is not only that, it’s about the entire direction of the franchise from 2023 to 2025…so there should be a catch all thread about organizational positioning and philosophy? Do the White Sox even have a better one than SoxMachine? Plus, we already have the Tim Dierkes MLB Trade Rumors FA’s thread. An MLB team named another new manager too…but that’s not worthy of a thread either, but a trade that will never happen because of the risk of it completely backfiring on Chris “Risk Aversion” Getz makes it about as realistic as Trevor Bauer to the Sox.
  2. Just goes to show how bad the last two seasons have been that I could care less who will be drafted first in 2025 because its practically guaranteed the Sox will get the fifth or sixth pick and then 10th in 2025. Book it. He’ll either turn into Gavin Sheets or honor his commitment to Oklahoma State instead. https://www.perfectgame.org/players/playerprofile.aspx?ID=530129
  3. Blame James Fox. https://www.futuresox.net/2023/11/16/could-mlb-draft-lottery-present-conflict-for-white-sox/ He wrote Ethan in his article. Pretty sure I had Jackson as title but maybe I was trusting a FutureSox writer too much, lol.
  4. Jalen Hurts Baker Mayfield Kyler Murray Caleb Williams Only notable failure was Spencer Rattler.
  5. Have to include the catcher’s spot…which is also pretty darned ugly at the moment.
  6. Should be able to get 16-18 data analysts with how many are willing to work for free or as interns just to get a foot in the door…
  7. https://soxmachine.com/2023/10/the-white-sox-bridge-to-2025/ Some interesting ideas they claim would get team to 80-82 wins...no way they spend $30 million on Gio and Flaherty combined. Anderson trade to ATL already out the window. Eloy traded. Gary Sanchez acquired. Terrible terrible bench. No Bryan Shaw.
  8. In 2024, the White Sox will have the 4th pick in rounds 2-20 due to their 61-101 record last year. Their first round pick won’t be known until the conclusion of the draft lottery. There’s a very good chance that the Sox land a top three pick and choosing in the top six is extremely likely. There is some question as to whether that’s the best outcome though. If the club lands a top six selection for the upcoming draft, they are ineligible for the lottery next year; similarly to this year’s Nationals. The highest the club would be able to pick would be 10th overall in the 2025 draft. With rumors of more parts being sold off in the near future and the likelihood of winning not being a huge priority, it’s expected that the 2024 White Sox won’t be very good. There’s a real argument to be made that falling out of the lottery and choosing 7th overall in the 2024 Draft could ultimately be the best case scenario for the organization. This outcome would keep them in play for a top six selection in the 2025 draft and the club is expected to be one of the worst teams in the big leagues next year. The 2024 draft class also doesn’t appear particularly strong. The best player in the class is a college first baseman. Two of the more exciting college prospects project as second basemen in the big leagues as well. The high school class appears to be underwhelming at the moment. Many of the college pitchers also present significant reliever risk. If the White Sox land a top five draft pick in December, they’ll very likely choose a good player next July. Falling out of the top six spots and remaining eligible to land Ethan Holliday in 2025 definitely doesn’t seem like a worst case scenario at this point though.
  9. Not to mention the way he left Oklahoma...bringing along teammates and recruits/commits and acting like he was already too big for Flyover Territory, it all left a terrible taste in the mouths of many Sooners fans. He's already worked his way across the entire country from MD/East to So Cal/West. At USC, they turn on you in a heartbeat, first the LA Times then the boosters alumni fanbase...OU and even Texas fans are much more loyal and forgiving.
  10. Like mutual fund active managers churning the portfolio at the end of the quarter...but in the end, they're not actually any better because now they're relying even more on Crochet and Banks, which somehow could be worse than 2023 because...well...things just seem to be getting worse by the month since the ASB and then FoD RF corn walk-off in August, 2021.
  11. Grifol to the Fukushima Wastewater/Tritium Treatment Team??? Whatever it is, it will suck unless it's Dylan Cease-related.
  12. Ventura was/is one of the most famous players in the history of NCAA baseball at Ok State...Golden Spikes winner, every possible award and accolade that one can accumulate. Montgomery is from a relatively rural Indiana high school and has already missed significant chunks of playing time. The Andrew Vaughn Experience should be enough to pump the brakes...and Colas/Sosa (pretty much any prospect in 2022) as well.
  13. We somehow gave international bonus pool money away to the Cardinals since Sox have nobody worth signing...ostensibly as an honorarium to "small market" team success.
  14. Or has learned from Hahn how to maximize the earning potential of a Sox GM by stretching out the rebuild to a minimum of 4-5 years...if not 6.
  15. Worse than Lee and 2022 Leury?
  16. You have to rebuild the defense first unless you have one of the Top 3-5 or certainly no worse than Top 10 QBR in the league. Even the vaunted Dolphins with their historic offense (we'll see now with Jalen Ramsey's individual brilliance) hasn't been enough to beat above any .500+ teams. Defense defense defense. Have seen enough Lincoln Riley disappointments over a decade to know how the story ends when elite offenses go up against elite defenses...and your own defense can't get off the field and eventually wears down in the 2nd half every single time.
  17. He might be the worst possible pitcher of all-time for GRF. SF was the perfect stadium for him...just like the Oakland Coliseum. Wherever he goes, he will absolutely get destroyed this year unless it's maybe Seattle going cheap on their backend.
  18. Royals fans have to be wondering why in God's name anyone would ever want to emulate the 2017 to 2023 Royals in any way shape or form? One or two good Soler seasons and drafting Witt, Jr.??
  19. Merkin even did Romy and Remillard puff / hype pieces...
  20. Way too expensive...and Flaherty would only come to the White Sox due to Katz and/or no better offers out there...certainly he seems like the type of pitcher from his Cardinals' days who thrives on being on a winning team with guys like Wainright and Lynn. If they're going that route, Wacha and Lugo are just as likely, but I'm going to be shocked if they don't more than Lance Lynn if you compare their respective 2023 seasons. Maybe Lynn got an extra $1-2 million just for the ex Cardinal respect factor.
  21. But he's THE quintessential 2014-2015 Royal, last guy off the bench...
  22. Guarantee Kopech would turn things around if he ends up with a competitive team and new teammates/coaching staff surrounding him.
  23. Merrifield will still end up getting something like $7-9 million. It's insane to pick him up 2-3 years too late just for "character" and "fundamentals" while simultaneously blocking younger players who will actually be around the next time the Sox are decent four or five years from now.
  24. Surely the Sox staff would motivate the heck out of him...right? Getting closer and closer to Bauer being a realistic option and him willing to take a small salary for one year in order to be traded to a playoff contender second half.
