  1. This is the answer to the question posted last season...after Luis Robert and Jake Burger, who would Sox fans actually pay to watch hit? Answer: still undetermined Montgomery the likeliest bet, though.
  2. A lot of fans said they wanted nothing to do with Michael Busch...but he would be the offensive MVP of the White Sox. Or Christopher Morel, for that matter.
  3. Over "Say it ain't so, Joe,"???
  4. Royals at 10-5 are going to be 1/2 game up on CLE and 1 game on the Tigers heading into action on Sunday... See, they were the right team to emulate!!!
  5. Vaughn only has two more arb years on his contract. Pretty amazing.
  6. Not even Shaw wants to have anything to do with this organization anymore…
  7. It won’t last that long. Jirschele or Leyland’s son will get the job…no lose situation coming in, can only overachieve at this point.
  8. Ball boy down LF line has the best play of the day so far…
  9. More like Brendan Fraser in The Whale…
  10. Would be nice to have Salvy Perez’s numbers in the lineup but they are helping to make the Royals competitive THIS year.
  11. Crowded leaderboard at Augusta but Woods is done...23 holes in one day too much for him physically at this point. Great play in RCF from Fairchild.
  12. Pull him. Mechanics are falling apart. Every pitch ending up way high. That should be his last inning. Will get through it...seemingly.
  13. Robbed home run early against him was harbinger of impending doom. Reds still have the no hitter alive but will take 4-5 guys combined.
  14. But not a huge velo difference between slider and cutter/sweeper. Love all this talk about Fletcher's defense but he still has to be up in the mid 700s as a hitter. Maybe you can get away with less bat in center but overall profile still more of a 4th or 5th outfielder.
  15. It happens to everyone occasionally. If he lunged too far at the last second...good way to get hurt. That hockey jersey will attract some fans. Visibly large gap from the I to the second C in Chicago jersey script...was that intentional?
  16. Especially when his velo was down 2-3 mph and getting behind in counts. 1. CwS -44 rs/ra 3. Rockies -27 He's out.
  17. "Yeah, Colson is deserving to be at Charlotte after what he did in Double-A and in the Arizona Fall League. He’s shown that that is the right decision so far,” Getz said. “Colson’s doing really well. “Defensively he’s making some really good plays. That's been a high priority for the organization. His at-bats have been pretty solid. He’s showing up every day and really becoming the overall professional we had hoped, and really looking forward to watching his progress unfold there in Charlotte." milb.com
  18. Another terrible relay throw. Going to have to pull Garrett. Up to 4.12 ERA.
  19. Undubitably or indubitably? Way too many pitches...going to be a long bullpen game. Jinxed it.
  20. Be careful here...seems like he has classic Moncada-like splits.
  21. At least this game will be over relatively quickly...
  22. Hall has a 5ish ERA, 2ish WHIP and Burnes might be the best pitcher in baseball out of the gate. We can revisit this in June/July and see where things stand.
  23. Since Dunn's 2011 New York Times disastrous season...Ozzie/Buehrle leaving the team and Ventura's reluctance to take the job and then the Shields/Tatis trade and finally LaRoche/Drake/Sale Eaton Jersey Gate.
  24. But it is not a straightforward sale. Rubenstein and his group will initially purchase 40% of the team. The remaining 60% will be sold, reportedly for tax reasons, after 94-year-old Angelos passes away. Angelos purchased the team in 1993 for $173 million. If the sale were to take place now, Angelos would face an estimated $250 million capital gains tax on the approximately $1.5 billion profit. But by waiting until after his passing, the basis step-up rule would increase his cost basis to current market value instead of his original purchase price. If the team is sold immediately thereafter, there will be little to no capital gains tax on the sale. “Rubenstein and his group would also enjoy some tax benefits as the new owners. According to Forbes, if the buyers are able to structure this as an asset sale, they will be able to take advantage of any losses incurred to offset other income. However, investors who do not materially participate in the team management can only use their losses to offset passive income such as real estate rental income.” https://abovethelaw.com/2024/02/the-upcoming-baltimore-orioles-sale-is-structured-to-avoid-capital-gains-taxes/ Based on the original White Sox purchase price of just $19 million in 1981…it’s going to be closer to a $275-280 million hit with a full White Sox sale.
  25. -37 RS/RA for White Sox and Marlins already. Nobody else within 10 runs. Rockies are at -27. Check that, -19 now with 12-4 lead.
