  1. Except that would mean a team finishing #13-17 every season. We're not even approximating that standard...
  2. On H-F's Dillon Head 3 days ago (Edited) In reply to wegotbrownagain Yep, they signed him for $2.8M, below the $3.17M "Suggested Retail Value" for 25th pick. That leaves $370,000 to spread around for lower picks. I'd have given up Clemson/college for $2.8M too. Of course, back then $2.8M had the purchasing power of almost $27M
  3. Sheets as well. They were the one who pioneered the use of that pitch recognition machine...iPitch or iDrive or something very similar sounding. Connor McKnight on postgame came across like he was describing Dave Kingman-Pete Incaviglia/Burger in the postgame..."but he generates so much power and excitement when he hits the ball." WHEN being the key part of that sentence.
  4. That's not Balta lol? There was another one who seemingly took the opposite er contrasting view...who had a lot of high school and college baseball experience...name having something to do with Ray Durham or Hawk's "love to watch Ray run" saying.
  5. To be fair, most don't want Toussaint to be a starter in 2024 after his latest outing and Middleton and Kelly have lost significant (especially in Middleton's case) value compared to let's say 4-6 weeks ago. Reynaldo Lopez has actually been better than those two (whose value they also cratered compared to this past offseason)....seems they have also decided to make Bummer a 4-6 out guy with Banks struggling and Crochet possibly out the remainder of the season. (Who would take Bummer's contract besides the Sox if he was on the waiver wire? Also, pretty difficult to imagine any other organization getting this little out of Crochet and Kopech, for example.)
  6. Giants suck lol. Except every other year when they work miracles with unknown rag tag groups of players.
  7. So much for him starting next year, in all likelihood. Second shoulder soreness recurrence already this summer.
  8. Mental makeup is so important...for every Konerko, there's 100 Gordon Beckham's and CQ's who never realize their potential. Many others never experience success or have that initial positive tear of weeks or months that mysteriously disappears when scouts later suggest adjustments that don't take or failure snowballs.
  9. You know you're getting older when Tawny Kitaen has already passed away and you remember watching Chuck Finley pitch for the Quad City Angels in your teenage years lol.
  10. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/elly-la-cruz-breaks-own-211504374.html
  11. Hopefully it's not related to Kris Bryant...poor guy has gone from HoF to a lesser Evan Longoria. Everyone in the Denver metro trying to play amateur sleuth and figure out who Becky actually is.
  12. https://www.yahoo.com/news/cutthroat-messages-mlb-scoreboard-leave-152341602.html Just for the various comments...in article and then the actual reader section at the end.
  13. Twins 18-12 Tigers 17-12 White Sox 15-11 CLE 13-13 Royals 9-24 White Sox would be -21 without the AL Central/Royals. Basically the difference in the top of the standings....that and CLE pen in one run and extra innings has flip flopped from 2022 due to weaker pen and lack of timely hitting with RISP.
  14. Is there an award for that which Hahn can claim and put on his resume? Most negative fWAR outfielders added to active roster over any three year period in MLB history?
  15. Crazy Texas already on third park since the early 90s. The second one had a lot of similarity with Old Tigers except not the quaint neighborhood location.
  16. https://www.nbcsportschicago.com/mlb/chicago-white-sox/espn-names-luis-robert-jr-among-overrated-on-top-100-list/347785/ Hasn't aged well.
  17. That is on Hahn. Garcia and Eaton individually had/have two of the best RF seasons in the last decade.
  18. Like Kopech and Burger and Vaughn...those dreaded lost development years. Or he just sucks and Sox scouts thought everyone from Cuba could ball after Alexei and Abreu. Because Yogurt Cespedes and now Colas have been worse than even Leury Garcia. Vera not looking as promising as even a year ago...
  19. Yeah....closer to low 20s. 47/50 US States and 40+ countries at least...will have to do one of those European tours where you can pick up 20-25 countries on one trip, which kind of feels like cheating.
  20. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/bally-sports-broadcaster-just-lost-185013711.html Brewers next to go
  21. I just remember it's right there very close to either LaGuardia or JFK...that big steel globesphere for the Open. Have to give Old Yankee Stadium an advantage for "historicity."
