  1. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/philadelphia-phillies-broadcasters-picked-wrong-205954680.html Might want to avoid trading TA7 to the Phillies... that said, he would have to homer first to agitate broadcaster and long time pitcher Larry Andersen
  2. https://sports.yahoo.com/odd-year-giants-whats-new-and-whats-not-about-san-franciscos-surge-014258194.html 2010/12/14 2021/23/25? Explanations for stunning even and now odd year successes... yet another team that seems to get the most out of the least. (Note: Sox should be very grateful Twins let Lemonte Wade Jr. and Luis Arraez both get away.)
  3. They would be better off developing their own catcher internally at least once a generation of players...
  4. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/williams-ahead-cincinnati-reds-owner-175253504.html
  5. Angels 23-0 over the Rockies after 11 and 8 run innings... barely halfway through. Five homers, including Drury (Sox could have looked at but apparently out of budget) and Trout.
  6. Great, have to listen to Youkilis touting the Red Sox all game long. Might as well throw Chris Berman into the booth for good measure.
  7. Brooks Boyer put that together to hype up Lynn's trade value to a contender.
  8. Red Sox 25-7 when scoring the first run. Tristan Casas showing Vaughn what size a traditional 1B possesses, looking over him...not that he's the greatest of defenders, either.
  9. Reds should be looking at Gio Lynn Clevinger etc. Currently are down four starting pitchers...Lodolo out until at least August "Cincinnati Reds starter Ben Lively has a bum pec, and it has sent him to the 15-day injured list as of Saturday afternoon. That means he joins Nick Lodolo, Hunter Greene, Connor Overton, Justin Dunn, Vlad Gutierrez, Tejay Antone, Tony Santillan, Derek Law, and Casey Legumina in the team’s pitching infirmary, with Graham Ashcraft (dead arm/death of grandparent) having only just emerged from said list earlier today. The Reds announced the IL decision, though they’ve yet to announce who will take Lively’s spot on the roster." redlegnation.com
  10. Who are now only 1 game under .500 again...
  11. https://climbingtalshill.com/posts/it-s-time-to-give-jose-abreu-the-luis-robert-jr-treatment-01h19kc6mcr0 Tbought it was funny another Sox player was referenced to how they should handle Abreu's ($58.5 million albatross contract) in Houston.
  12. No Hamilton. No Engel. No Leury. Preventing injuries to players who can actually run...see Moncada Robert Anderson. Mysterious falls in sprint speed...see Moncada. Romy the fastest player this year but he can't get on base. Andrus too old to run. Grandal Vaughn Sheets lack the burst to run.
  13. One of the most interesting stats is that Cleveland has never been more than 7 games under .500 going back to the 2016 World Series team... the last year the AL Central was relevant until CLE won something in the post season last year.
  14. Lions are definitely on the upswing and the Knicks at least made the playoffs two of the last three years and even won a round. Maybe the Redskins or Royals/Rockies are worse.
  15. Don’t forget running Giolito out of town for no other reason than being the union rep. But at least Hahn et al didn’t lose the Brian Ball discrimination case…so yay for that? Cancelling Sox Fest, raising parking and ticket prices in some areas of the park coming off last year’s extremely disappointing season…getting James Fegan fired because the fanbase has started to completely tune out of anything to do with the team.
  16. They would be insane not to take as many minor league pitching prospects at the High A and AA levels as possible.
  17. https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance Which team is now leading the White Sox in attendance as of Friday night? We have so many excuses for Rick Hahn. Their GM didn't throw his hands up in the air and quit...he only became more determined to prove his owner how wrong he was. He learned it from weather the exact same storm in Oakland in early 2000s. Nick Krall literally lived Moneyball. Not just read about it in the Michael Lewis book or watched Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill debate with Grady Fuson.
  18. Then this year before the season started he did this: "Castellini made a presentation in front of a booster group called the Rosie Reds—a group founded in 1964 and whose acronym is Rooters Organized to Stimulate Interest and Enthusiasm—that seemed to be Castellini complaining about owning and running a baseball team in the 2020s. He once again brought up the current economic system in baseball, and it seemed his goal was to make Reds fans side with him and agree that it must be challenging to run a small market Major League Baseball franchise in 2023. Things took a turn when that presentation had a slide titled, ‘Teams out of contention by Opening Day,’ which was a chart showing how many teams since 2019 started the season with no chance of making the playoffs. Guess which team Phil is talking about? You guessed it. His own Cincinnati Reds. That kind of statement from a team’s President and COO will not stimulate interest and enthusiasm. In fact, it did the exact opposite. Locked On Reds podcast co-hosts Jeff Carr and Steven Offenbaker were flabbergasted on their podcast's latest episode while discussing Castellini’s weekend antics, with Carr saying, “What the heck was the endgame with this?” Offenbaker added, “What he’s saying is, there’s no point in watching the Reds! We haven’t even had the first pitch of spring training, and we’re out of contention.” https://www.wkyc.com/article/sports/locked-on/lo-cincinnati/reds-show/cincinnati-reds-president-phil-castellini-under-fire-again-for-comments-about-team/535-a1230c88-14ef-459e-ae3b-6073a1d79d95
  19. He said, “Well, where you gonna go? Let's start there. I mean, sell the team to who? I mean, that's the other thing, I mean, you wanna have this debate? If you wanna look at what would you have this team do to have it be more profitable, make more money, compete more in the current economic system that this game exists, it would be to pick it up and move it somewhere else. And, so, be careful what you ask for. I think we're doing the best we can do with the resources that we have. " Someone whose owner said this just 15 short months ago now has the hottest team in baseball selling out that home park just last night.

  21. The next day, the Reds moved to sign De La Cruz. Because they went way over the international bonus allotment the previous signing period to land Jose Barrero ($5 million), Alfredo Rodriguez ($7 million) and Vladimir Gutierrez ($4.75 million), they were penalized and could have no signings of players for over $300,000. Good thing no one else was really after De La Cruz. Cartagena and Jimenez signed him for only $65,000 on July 2, 2018. “Right now, everyone thinks it’s a steal," Cartagena said. https://www.mlb.com/news/how-the-reds-scouted-top-prospect-elly-de-la-cruz Very similar story to Tatis...minus the famous father and baseball pedigree. Raw/skinny athlete who wasn't noticed due to lack of power matures late physically... sprouts up almost overnight and becomes a star.
