  1. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-power-rankings-week-9 Rockies and Reds passed the Sox. Only Washington KC and Oakland to go. Cubs closing in on the bottom as well.
  2. The Sox would have to send $25-30 million back to get rid of Benintendi. No way Hahn won't wait at least another year to admit he's a complete total utter buffoon and the rebuild has died a quiet and ignominious death.
  3. PADDY WINS SABR'S HEMOND AWARD The Society for American Baseball Research's Scouts Research Committee has announced White Sox international scouting director Marco Paddy as the recipient of its annual Roland Hemond Award. Paddy, 56, broke into baseball as a Braves area scout in 1994 and ascended to their director of Latin American operations in 2004 before moving on to the Blue Jays and White Sox in similar roles. He has overseen the signings of such players as José Abreu, Henderson Alvarez, Elvis Andrus, Neftali Feliz, Luis Robert Jr. and Fernando Tatis Jr. The award honors both Paddy and Hemond, who spent seven decades working in baseball, winning World Series championships with the 1957 Milwaukee Braves and the 2005 White Sox. He probably helped more scouts (and more baseball people in general) than anyone else in the history of the game. Hemond co-founded the Professional Baseball Scouts Foundation to provide financial assistance to those who had fallen on hard times. He also worked to find college scholarships for scouts and other people connected to baseball who wanted to further their educations, and he persuaded owners to approve a pension plan for non-uniformed personnel. Hemond died at age 92 in December 2021. Mentioning his name is still a guaranteed way to get a smile out of anyone who knew him. source MLB.com Jim Callis
  4. That would require, at the very least, Giolito, Graveman AND Anderson...and putting all their eggs in one basket rather than trying to get 2-3 or even 3-5 prospects back at once like the Moncada/Kopech trade. Depends on how much the Dodgers are willing to part with for Ohtani versus waiting on FA. Someone like Eduardo Rodriguez might be more attractive, but the Tigers are really in a tough position about going for it this year versus putting it off. Dodgers need a LH with Anderson/Heaney gone and Urias out.
  5. Yeah, it's not like the Orioles are going to give up Grayson Rodriguez this quickly. The problem is only Giolito and maybe Anderson get you anywhere close to Tier A prospects... everything else will be B/C level unless they also deal Cease as well. No matter what, they need to target catchers, RF and middle infielders...along with basically ANY pitching, but starters in particular. Graveman and/or Hendriks will close next year with the other (depending on performance) likely traded. Simply no way in hell you can carry that much in veteran salary for the pen with a rebuilding team. Shohei Ohtani, while clearly not a prospect, will get thrown out a lot this offseason as a smoke screen or subterfuge by Hahn IMO. If I'm Ohtani...the Dodgers have to be my clear #1 choice in FA, though. Braves would be #2 if he's all about avoiding bad weather and prefers the two coasts. Cubs seem to be fading from the picture. The Orioles would be an amazing/intrguing choice, or Rays...or Rangers. For the sport of baseball at least. Mets Phillies Yankees Red Sox all doomed by the bad weather factor as well.
  6. It's almost like they are intentionally trying to act like the A's and Reds... alienating as many fans as possible. Meanwhile, the GS Warriors have a GM that led them to 4 titles and a genuine dynasty in Bob Myers and he's still getting pushed out. Would Hahn still keep his job if he killed someone in broad daylight at 35th and the Dan Ryan?
  7. "The Blue Jays released a statement to blogTO regarding Bass’ actions, saying, "Individual player sentiments are not representative of the club's beliefs." They also reaffirmed their commitment to "providing an inclusive and welcoming experience for all." Rogers Centre — the Blue Jays' home stadium — will be at the forefront of Toronto's Pride Month festivities in June and will host the organization’s fourth annual Pride Weekend when the Minnesota Twins visit June 9 and 10."
  8. https://www.yahoo.com/sports/clayton-kershaw-disagreed-sisters-award-030159218.html Clayton Kershaw and Blue Jays' Anthony Bass wade into intersection of politics religion and woke/cancel culture as well as Bud Light controversy. "Blue Jays' Anthony Bass endorses anti-LGBTQ boycotts of Bud Light, Target Bass also sparked a social media firestorm in April after he blasted a United Airlines employee who refused to clean up popcorn spilled by his young children." https://ca.sports.yahoo.com/news/blue-jays-anthony-bass-endorses-anti-lgbtq-boycotts-bud-light-target-231355731.html
  9. They've actually been turning their season around without him, lol...at least from a W/L standpoint. Not sure about MLB talent development.
  10. Did they ever really believe C.White was a PG?
  11. Which would have been Giolito, Madrigal, Vaughn, Cease and Kopech, in theory...
  12. Well, Robert, Cease and even Kopech would have a good number of takers. Otherwise, based on contracts, not so much. Surely a number of GM's believe Anderson will be much better away from the White Sox.
  13. To me, that last Twins' game of the series they had 3-4 consecutive chances to walk it off and finally lost in the 13th was the one that REALLY stands out in the last 2-3 weeks. All Alberto had to do was not swing at a pitch that ended up hitting him from one of the middle relievers on Minny.
  14. Everyone forgets that 2005 team was on a $65+ million budget of numerous bargain bin veteran deals. Hasn't worked since of course. Required depth for F.Garcia deal and sheer luck flipping Contreras for Loaiza.
  15. 7 gb If they won the blown game against DET and Hendriks came back at 100%, but nah...just too many struggling hitters or indifferent/apathetic ones going through the motions.
  16. Combined with Grandal and Vaughn being so slow... Neto even had a beat or two to decide where to take the out.
