  1. Or This is the End by The Doors Hello, I Don't Love You by JR and The Doors
  2. Of course the Twins are underachieving offensively with 4-5 regulars out. They have a much better defense, Top 5, better bullpen (not even close) and much more team speed/aggressiveness on the basepaths. And we are already 3-4 games behind two teams, not just one. Not to mention we hear this same exact argument every year about the Twins and/or Guardians having multiple weaknesses.
  3. 1/3 chance? It's going to be pretty miserable weather for a game...especially at night.
  4. As soon. as you lose Giolito Lynn Anderson Clevinger Grandal and most of the bullpen, how does it make sense to keep running Jimenez Moncada Vaughn Robert out there without making any changes since you're not winning anything anyway...and that's kind of the default Hahn argument, we have to wait until they're all healthy and playing together for an extended period before we can make my adjustments.
  5. They're not going to sit Vaughn, though. They'll argue he's close or leading the team in RBI's and the power will come if he keeps at it blah blah blah learns how to hit tough righties and plays the only position he's really comfortable with.
  6. Managing a bullpen. and getting the most out of the bullpen's talent, are two entirely different aspects. Anytime you have a pen and nobody really knows their roles from day to day... it usually leads to disaster. Is Lopez the closer? Well, he hasn't been used that traditional way for sure. We already know all the LH issues. They are well documented. Lambert has basically taken over Kelly's role and by many measures has been doing as well or better than Graveman. And there's no pecking order at all after those four guys (Lopez, Bummer, Graveman, Lambert)...we just know disaster is usually waiting behind the magical mystery door that feels almost randomly chosen on a daily basis.
  7. Are all those scouts, evaluators, cross checkers and baseball writers paid more to make assessments than MLB general managers? If you just went by rankings compilations and aggregators, what could Hahn do that ChatGP4 can't do even better?
  8. “Here” is the manager’s chair of a major-league team in a major city. Grifol is the fourth Latino manager in the major leagues and the Sox’ first skipper not to have played in the major leagues since Terry Bevington in the mid-1990s. An All-America catcher out of Florida State drafted by the Twins in the sixth round in 1991, Grifol made it as high as Triple-A as a catcher in the Mets’ organization. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2023/3/28/23659663/chicago-white-sox-manager-pedro-grifol-rick-hahn-tony-la-russa-terry-bevington
  9. Night games Monday and Tuesday, matinee on WED/getaway day Wheeler vs. Lynn in the battle of "what could have been if not for a certain someone's wife's preference for the East Coast?" LHP Falter vs. Lucas Giolito RHP Taijuan Walker vs. Don't Let your Babies grow up to be Clevingers Both teams enter at disappointing records of 6-10, so ranked 21st (Sox) at MLB Power Rankings and 20th respectively, Phillies desperate to quickly get back into the NL East race. Sox currently 19th in attendance in the VERY early going.
  10. Almost the exact same record as the White Sox...1/2 game better, in fact. That was supposed to be the break in the schedule, at Cincy in early May. Maybe not...
  11. A lot of critics are ruing the absence of someone portraying Michael Jordan, but I think the absence of him forces the focus on the other members of the cast, like Bateman, Deloris Jordan, Falk, etc. Seeing those names on the draft board brought back memories, especially Dinner Bell Mel Turpin. Easy to forget Stockton and Barkley were in that class as well as Hakeem of course. Wasn't a huge fan of Chris Tucker's casting, but he was fine all in all. Everyone who grew up in the 80's will appreciate the soundtrack and plethora of product placements.
  12. https://www.cbssports.com/mlb/news/future-mlb-general-managers-eight-candidates-who-could-eventually-become-your-favorite-teams-next-gm/ Porter...didn't exactly turn out to be the best choice for the Mets lol.

  14. Haber or Getz two most likely... no strong or compelling arguments for either.
  15. Solid bump/jump from 1.6 to 2 million 2021 to 2022. Result of two disappointing playoff appearances but at least they made the postseason as promised. Will now see a fall to as low as 1.4 to 1.6 million this year if the wheels totally fall off. Fans treated terribly this entire offseason.
  16. They've got MUCH bigger problems than that to deal with for the moment... the media is already turning on the team and giving up hope just two weeks into the season. And the truly challenging part of the schedule hasn't even arrived.
  17. "Discovered by the Germans in 1904, they named it San Diego, which of course in German means 'a whale's vagina'. I love scotch. Scotchy scotch scotch. Here it goes down, down into my belly." Ron Burgundy
  18. Disproving the any publicity is good publicity maxim...the mods have almost completely disappeared. Feels like everyone is just resigned to another summer of benign neglect and indifference/apathy/malaise from their favorite team and sport...one that used to provide so much joy and so many memories in their youth. Answering the question of how to allocate that time more productively.. as well.
  19. “You guys always hear from the most negative fans,” he told reporters before the Orioles series began. “The fans I talk to never come up to me and say, ‘Rick, this is the start of just the same stuff as last year.’ They seem to seek you guys out in the comments sections. Imagine that.” Need to keep repeating this quote over and over again. Negativity and not performance has been the leading cause of organizational problems. Michael Jordan would just use that as additional motivation to become even better. "What, my jump shot is too flat? That's the best you've got? Really?" To Hahn it's all yet another convenient excuse. Just zero accountability and sense of connection to the fans who make his cushy and sheltered life possible.
  20. That their payroll was essentially capped despite 2 million in attendance recorded last year. Practically guaranteeing it would shrink back down to 1.4-1.6 million again this year with a non competitive, difficult to watch product on the field. Not supplementing it with anything beyond Abreu/Liam - Benintendi/Clevinger means at best they are hanging around .500 and at worst totally imploding.
  21. Nothing to lose but time/opportunity cost.
  22. This current version is a 3-4.5 fWAR well above average MLB CFer but far from a superstar/Trout Jr. Half of that fWAR will come from defense alone. He's basically Mike Cameron, which is far from terrible but not good enough either to move the meter. Heck two true/genuine superstars and Rendon isn't enough for the Angels to break through.
  23. Sounds a LOT like 2004-2008 Ozzie Guillen...if you strip away the difficult to discern accent and political incorrectness. Too bad we never got to see Terry Francona provided with a real opportunity to put his own imprint on the organization. Old school managers like Bochy and Melvin and Showalter still can succeed...but (Francona) has learned how to deal with modern-day athletes and especially his Latin American players better than almost anyone. (That said, the Guardians' pixie dust isn't as strong early this year, their bullpen has been a net weakness.)
