  1. Just nicely played a short hop into a DP...applauded by former teammate and WS winner Cueto. Early feedback is that he's much more athletic than anyone thought. Johnny with a 4.95 ERA that came a lot cheaper than Lynn's 6+. Marlins' broadcast just mentioned JB Shuck and Emilio Bonifacio lol...
  2. Burger and Yerminator eponymous food specials haven't been very long lasting...
  3. Most predictable thing in the world. Watch Kelly not have a blown save here on out...
  4. Narvaez and McCann were pretty much the only positive developments...Hahn generously helped with Kelvim Escobar's retirement plan.
  5. We aren't even as entertaining as the Washington Generals back in their hey day. I'd even reluctantly go with Shaquille's The General auto insurance ads.
  6. And because they were still on the hook for $29 million to Moncada, which they are stubbornly unwilling to consider a sunk cost.

  8. And Gimenez Straw Clase...Foolishly signed Bell for $33 milion/2 years.
  9. He and his mom gossiped that opportunity away...
  10. Hahn's quite fortunate Liam doesn't seem like the suing/crying over spilt milk kind of guy or there might be another lawsuit filed to take away that one positive memory this year of his short-lived triumphant return to the mound.
  11. Same questions about Hahn Haber Getz ...
  12. Back today at leadoff. Burger hitting fifth for Marlins.
  13. Kelly Bummer Ruiz Shaw Diekman Lopez Graveman Hendriks a lot higher than $35 million, factoring in buyouts too.
  14. Meanwhile, Hahn made both Burger and Tatis cry when he traded them. Or 2/33 under 27 players with 800+ in baseball. Still hasn't made Robert or Eloy cry lol. Yet. Then he would have 4-33....which is roughly Hahn's successful FA "hit rate" historically of 16%.
  15. It was more when Jose Fernandez was kind of taking too many chances in his personal life and nobody tried to talk sense into him because he was The Franchise.
  16. Worse than any 2017-19 rebuilding lineup by far. Especially in Texas in the heat of an August day game where 6+ runs are likely to be scored. Meanwhile, Burger hitting 5th for the Marlins in early getaway day game.
  17. They're going to have to ask Hahn if he takes questions again 1) why would they waste playing time on Grandal the next two months and 2) how could fans possibly squint and see a 2024 contender here without Jimenez Burger and Robert in the lineup to provide some pop??? 3) is the strategy now to try to "beat" Colorado KC and Oak in the race to the bottom for 2024 draft position? Maybe they're deliberately trying to sabotage the Astros?

  19. Words of wisdom from Cohen to Hahn “I said before, ‘Hope’s not a strategy,’” Cohen said, referencing a June press conference in which he hinted at his plans if the Mets failed to improve. “Now, saying that, we didn’t have any idea of what was possible at the Deadline, and we weren’t just going to do deals for the sake of doing deals. But we thought we got a great return for the people we ended up trading.”
  20. Looking at Top Ten pitching prospects from 1998-2001 you had the biggest impact from two lowest rated/most unheralded guys in Buehrle and Fogg. Kip Wells or Garland #3. Rauch the biggest disappointment...or Ginter/Barcelo. Padres recently had a similar pile of pitching talent (starting with Gore and Patino) when their system was ranked first and traded most of it away for Musgrove Darvish Clevinger Hader etc.
  21. Palka is a lot closer to Dan Pasqua
  22. Avi was simply the Miguel Cabrera cheating scandal...and Eloy Jimenez-esque lackadaisical attitude. Soler it was more that some felt he moped when the Cubs werent giving him regular playing time and when he was getting hurt all the time in Chicago. Whispers around both players about work ethic when they were younger. The one interesting thing to note is that the Miami clubhouse has been one of the most Latin influenced in baseball over the last 10-15 years but the chemistry hasn't usually been brought up....rather ownership stadiums budgets Jeter. . Pretty hard to believe Renteria is the only one capable of creating a positive/fun or loose vibe when our last three managers spoke Spanish fluently.
  23. And they have Soler/Avi Garcia down there in Miami...who weren't exactly players with the greatest clubhouse reps in Chicago.
